It operates. Out of the box, just compile the driver right into your kernel, and you are all set, mythtv will detect it. Dirt straightforward setup and I get HD鼐) football more than the air every single Sunday... sweet :)The half-height mount is also extremely nice. I have a lot of other half-height cards with poor or incorrect-sized brackets, but this a single was just appropriate. Is there any benefit to the PCI Express x1 interface more than a usual PCI? I would rather have this in a pci slot.No driver for the analog tuner on this card. It's been promised as "very soon to be completed" about a year ago and no news considering that then :( Super-easy setup and no troubles so far under linux tends to make this a good get.

Interface was straightforward to use when installed. Documentation was extremely poor which made installation a lot tougher than it need to have been. Cannot turn off DVR function to just watch straight tv which slows down reaction instances.

I finally have a tuner in my 1st built for Win 7 media centric pc, and it didn't price a lot. I had no concept a pci-e television card would require so numerous system resources from my Athlon64 X2 4gig ram Win7 rig. As I have discovered with most tuners, image is a small "soft". Occasionally have difficulties utilizing either hauppauge software or media center software requiring reboots. The tuner was supposed to be the component that made the build "come together", due to the fact it currently ran Win7, had a nice 22 inch monitor and wireless keyboard/mouse. Now that it's installed...I don't use it as considerably as I thought I would. Programs from Hulu and other web-sites appear greater...nevertheless keeping my old 9 inch tube television in the technique. I'll use it again next NCAA tourney for neighborhood broadcast coverage, and my "baby" for out of marketplace net coverage.

Functions incredibly well with Windows Vista Property Premium Media Center and a decent antenna. I don't use cable. none. If you're obtaining bad reception, it almost certainly isn't the card's fault. You need to have to have an suitable antenna mounted to the outside of your residence, the shortest achievable cable run, and a decent amplifier to get a good picture in most places. It also assists to get rid of any signal splitters. It may well seem like a lot of work to get it suitable, but once it's performed, you don't have a ์+ monthly cable bill.

This card isn't the finest card on the market, but I knew that going in. The installation went smoothly and it has no difficulty selecting up a robust signal from my homemade Fractal HD Antenna. I've extremely happy with the performance so far. It only has one coax-in, but I knew that going into it. For the price, it can't be beat.

Legendary Hauppauge quality; Uncomplicated driver install (only 8 files); PCIe; Return of a actual composite input; NO macrovision! Existing driver does not support Closed Captions capability; Today's television card driver design indicates no audio in "older" apps (for external sources, can use line-in on sound card, but unfortunately the tv tuner mode is useless); Bundled app is barely functional (and as stated, only it and other newer apps support the driver audio implementation) Been an owner of a WinTV-radio given that 2000. The WinTV-HVR-1250 is basically its direct modern replacement. The only significant difference is the tuner; the 1250 does not have FM radio, but now has ASTC/ClearQAM, in addition to the regular analog cable. High quality is superb as always, but I guess that depends as much on your video card, display driver settings, AND the tv app you use (some say other television cards have a better display, but that is most likely only mainly because of the computer software utilised - I do not use the WinTV's own, which is pretty bad quality-wise). Overall, this card is the ideal value you'll locate right now, till their 2250 comes out. :)

It's inexpensive. This was my 1st try at a Media Center PC so I didn't want to break the bank on an experiment. This card fit the bill. It works with Vista Media Center. Not definitely positive if it's a Media Center factor or one thing with this card, but I can't simply switch between coax input and s-video input. The s-video input looks actually nice. You can tell the video quality degrades with the coax. I'm not confident if this is a card problem or my setup. Probably if I had it all to do more than once more I would get a diverse card. This was a great proof of concept card and I'll continue to use it until I can get a card with digital audio in.

Uncomplicated to physically install. Instantly recognized by Windows 7. Nightmare to get WinTV 7 operating. I have about 6 hours into this challenge. WinTV 7 installation goes via the motions but the end result is an empty Hauppauge directory. In WMC, I had to install a virtual IR blaster so that I could total the configuration utilizing a composite input... but I still can get sound. A fantastic deal of trouble to go therough for a guy who just wanted to watch some tv on his computer though checking his e-mail

Easy to plug in, modest card. The analog from this card is HORRIBLE. It takes forever to alter the channel which I was hoping would be quicker on PCIe, but it isnt. WinTV is also very poor quality software. It picked up a bunch of spanish speaking and residence shopping networks in QAM channels on my analog cable, but not HD-ABC, HD-FOX, HD-NBC, HD-CBS, or HD-KUED. Funny, my HD television picks up those channels just fine, no cable box, exact same specs as this card. My prior tuner card picked up those HD channels over the analog cable just fine too. Downloaded the Wintv software from the web, installed wintv, and it errors on a number of feature installs (nothing essential) and doesn't install them. I figure maybe this card doesn't assistance those additional capabilities fine, but to put up a screen box that says "Error XXXX failed install". what poor quality programming suitable from the get-go. This is my 3rd tv card and as usual the included software is pure junk junk junk. And in this case the hardware is poor quality too. And dont get me started on windows media center. Windows Media Center has however to be of any use to me. It doesn't choose up the clear-qam or the ATSC HD channels over analog cable. So why don't I just go get digital cable? It's 50 far more dollars a month...THATS why! And if I have to have a digital cable box...what do I need to have a Tv tuner card for!? Receiving a PVR cable box is only 6 a month additional which means I don't need to have a Tv tuner card, or MCE, or a router or extenders...NONE of that. MCE is way behind the occasions and MS better pull their heads out soon or I'm accomplished worrying about this.

The good: single RF input (nice since local cable has each analog and digital programming), appears to decode clear QAM substantially superior than my AverMedia Hybrid Volar USB tuner. The bad: picture excellent is only fair. The ugly: on this XP Pro machine, the install CD installs the driver, and _says_ it has installed the application, but it has not. The updated driver/app package fixes this dilemma, but the item isn't even _mentioned_ on the Hauppauge USA web site!!!Fortunately, the NewEgg product link takes 1 to a web-site that does essentially have the updated software.

When it works, it's fairly cool to have Television on my personal computer desktop. After reading the newegg critiques, I installed the existing driver directly off the Hauppage site. It quickly hung up my machine requiring numerous reboots. I lastly got it to recognize the card and get it running but kept intermittently got driver glitches. If I run in any powersaving modes, it hangs up and sometimes gives me the blue screen of death. I replaced this card for a although with a 1600 model, but had the identical (or worse) difficulties and switched back. Now that I'm 贶 into it ƒ cards), I wish I'd have thrown it all away and gone with a various corporation for the replacement card... while it seems that all reviews are quite poor for any manufacturer's card. Intel quadcore q6600, 4 gb ram, GeForce 8800 GT operating two LCD monitors. Vista Premium.

Its Low-cost! Its Cheap for a reason!! The software is absolutely useless. So is the customer support. Immediately after you tell them that the drivers won't load, that is the final you will hear from them. I am surprised that Newegg would sell such a piece of junk. That is not like them. I wish I had tryed to install this Prior to the 30 day reeturn ran out but I was on vacation and now am stuck with this piece of junk!!

This thing is working great. QAM channels in winXP, appear wonderful. I'm employing the remote wonder from my ATI card with a winTV plug-in. Works good too. Install went well. The remote that came with it, didn't function. And I believe you ought to have a superior CPU also. This card runs on software, so a core2duo or such is in order. Its has a audio plug on it,but I'm not employing any wire for sound. Its running thru the PCIe bus. I guess. Unencrypted QAM picture is wonderful!

Awesome tuner, gets OTA HD channels wo/ any hiccups. Depending on if you are employing Vista or XP, it may well not be the easiest to setup. Neither XP or Vista has the ability to use a QAM tuner. You will want to do some analysis on the Windows Tv Pack to get it to work. Considering that this is not a dual tuner I am only able to see HD channels w/ Windows Media Center. Not that large of a deal considering that the Digital transition is coming soon. I hate working with 3rd party programs to watch Television on my pc, that is why I had additional trouble using it then most. I was finally able to get Windows Media Center to tune in HD.

WinTV identified channel 60 that was broadcasting my Dish Network, so I'm watching Dish on monitor Š whilst surfing on monitor ş. Picture from a coax is mediocre. Windows Media Center was not a fan of this card. It picked up no channels. I would appear into far better options if picture excellent is a high priority.

With Vista MCE, it was a clean and quick install. Vista MCE recognized the card, scanned channels, and downloaded my local program guide. Slick! I've already set several Tv recordings, and the interface rivals TiVo. Great high quality picture, and QAM comes by means of nicely with their included computer software (QAM support does not exist in Vista MCE but for some reason...) Their software package isn't quite great. Non-intuitive channel browsing - slow. I don't use it, simply because Vista MCE does it WORLDS far better. Also, I haven't gotten the IR remote to function yet (and it doesn't work with MCE, so I'm in all probability not going to bother). Other critiques have stated that the SD excellent is terrible - I'd wager that they'd by no means seen SD on an LCD just before, due to the fact I get identical SD top quality on my 37" LCD HDTV via my comcast box as I do with this card. It is not the card, it's the reality that SD is just poor searching, IMO.
