While the speed is not exceptional, it does come with SmartCP to help with large files. There's no more starting a download over. If interrupted, this modem may be able to start up where it left off. What a timesaver! The connection rate is very high over bad phone lines, and line noise does not disconnect it. It's not overly fast on small files and E-mail, large files, such as Windows Update and anti-virus update are extremly well done--very quickly.
