Very Rapid Chip. The CPU fan is not as poor as it is on the socket 775 chips. I nevertheless decided to go with an aftermarket cooler, but for normal apps it wouldn't be important. None In case you are confused since its a quad core that is hyper-threadded it shows up as an eight core processor.i7 940MSI X58 Platinum2x 300gig Velociraptors6gigs Corsair tri-channel DDR3 ram.9800gtx+ SSC

Just obtain a Core i7. No matter which, you will be happy. The 920 is more quickly than the the most expensive dual/quad core cpu. Core i7 mobo costs.

Matched up nicely with my P6T Deluxe V2. Nice combination. really easy install. Considerably faster and runs cooler than my old P4 3GHz. None I will be replacing the stock fan soon. Temps are all appropriate withstock. But I'll feel superior when I get my new Thermalright 120 EX. P.S. Excellent service and value from New Egg.

I have had this chip in and out of MOBO's 7-eight occasions. I somehow got thermal compound on pins. I took a Major risk, just wiped it off meticulously, employed compressed air to clean something else off, and place it in the MOBO. I have ran this chip OC from 3.six-3.8 regularly for virtually a year and a half. It is nevertheless running sturdy without any complications. Fantastic chip! Stupid factor won't die so I can convince my wife to let me buy an I7 extreme! Some people today rave about the 920. Fine, but when OC'ing, you have to crank the BLCK to accomplish the very same OC.

This CPU is fairly the operate horse. I'm upgrading from stock clocked Q6600. And there is a noticeable difference. Nonetheless make positive you get a extremely fantastic aftermarket CPU cooler as this chip likes to run warm. I have an Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme, and my idle is about 45, and load about 69, and these are at stock speeds. Quite good to work with installation sensible. I was a bit apprehensive at the pricy mistake if I goofed up and cracked it. It runs well except for a strange error and blue screen (on very restricted frequency) I am acquiring it may possibly need to be exchanged becuase they can't figure out what it is but it has to do with energy in one of the cores only. Value OF COURSE! Lack of effortless to access help...It is running at a greater speed than the box and doc's state and I have even gotten a warning from Intel's diagnostic application that I will void my warranty for overclocking it as it believes I am undertaking. I am not! Intel needs to make assistance for difficulties above simple fixes readily available visually so folks can refer and visually see a source for services.

I purchased this to see if it would overclock any much better than my 920. Lower Bclk really should permit for a much better OC. Similar board, very same Ram, similar final results at around 4.2. Not complaining, its is a very good processor, but not worth it for OC purposes when the 920 can be had for a lot less costly. None truly. Stick with a 920 if your organizing on OC'ing

I have owned and utilized the i7 940 CPU because they were released in 2008. It has been certainly rock-solid at stock speed or overclocked! The reason I wanted to write this evaluation is simply because Newegg has created this excellent CPU readily available once more and at a great price also! Immediately after it was very first released, it disappeared and wasn't offered right here for quite some time. When I initially bought it, I did not write a overview; but now (since its' back) I have. None! Purchase it; especially with the existing fantastic pricing - I paid 軙.00 USD for mine in ང - you won't regret it! Also (if you're going to O/C), purchase an following-marketplace cooler. I have for the most part, kept this CPU overclocked for gaming purposes - It has under no circumstances failed to satisfy my program requirements for an exceptional gaming encounter!

Even even though I don't OC, possessing the ability to do so, and to do it quickly, is fairly innovative. Possibly by the time Intel releases a new cpu, my expertise level will be high enough to try OC, and this would be the 1 to experiment with. Even without having OC, this is a quick cpu. Really uncomplicated to set up, and fairly intuitive. I'm surprised Intel didn't contain detailed info about what it can do. None. Other vendors appear slow obtaining on the 1366 bandwagon. Corsair is only psu compatible w/i7 so far, need far more selection of fans/heatsinks.

Extremely quickly, I imply Actually rapid, however stable. Pricey. This chip gets very hot, particularly when you're doing some thing intensive like video-encoding; I was hitting 90 C though encoding with the stock cooler. Factors are a lot far better now that I have a Zalman 9900, but be warned Certainly recommended. But buy a distinct cooler; the stock 1 sucks.

Ideal bootup from the first time I powered it on. This CPU is rapidly! I believed that my OC'd Core2 Quad was fast, but this provides a really good boost. The stock heatsink is a tiny clunky to install, and the fan is not silent. I'm waiting for a good aftermarket CPU cooler. Make certain your DDR3 is rated at 1.65v or lower. The memory controller is integrated into the CPU (vs the chipset for earlier generations), and if you crank up the DDR3 voltage, you could blow your CPU. Asus Rampage II Extreme, 6 * 2GB GSkill DDR3 1333 1.5v, BFG nvidia GTX 260 MC OCX, 2 * WD Black 1TB 32MB cache in Raid stripe, LG BD/HDDVD drive, Vista 64. Heatsink/fan has a bigger footprint than 775 heatsink/fans, so I can\'t reuse my Tuniq from my old process.

Assembled easilly, worked on first boot. This issue is Quickly. Stock Cooling fan was a little funky to get seated, but not a massive deal. This cpu is sweet! I combined it with a 150 WD Velociraptor system drive, 6 gigs of Corsair memory and GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD5 LGA Mobo. Operating Vista 64 ultimate. Machine purs & nearly nothing slows it down - Vista installed in about 14 minutes.Coming from a Dual cpu single core 2 ghz opteron process, this is a Big upgrade. Extremely happy.

I purchased this chip with the Asus Rampage II Extreme, and 6 gigs of Dominator RAM. Easiest overclock ever. four.2Ghz Stable, attained it with less then 10 minutes of studying the bios and a couple of reboots. I could probably go higher, but this chip runs warm even on water and I decided that rising the voltage for just a small much more power wasn't worth the heat tradeoff. none

This processor was below my severe scrutiny when I bought it and it has totally lived up to it's hype. Excellent application speed, Vista begin-up is quicker as well as shut-down. I can watch a Blu-ray movie and have FSX playing in the background, though performing a anti virus run and witting this critique. I f*ing enjoy this processor. NONE - She's excellent in just about every way. Seeking forward to altering the stock fan and implementing a fanless heatsink for ultra-quiet operations. Complementing this processor with the atleast three gigs of memory is a massive plus, at least for my circumstances due to the fact I'm a die challenging FSX fan. I might go X64 and add another 3 gigs.
