Quickly. None. For the cost this is by far the best processor you can buy. I personally don't believe dropping 1000$ on a processor is a smart decision, and this 1 is in the excellent price tag range if you're nevertheless prepared to spend a hell of a lot on a new gaming rig. Runs something I can throw at it with ease, operating max settings on any game 2560x1600. Couldn't be happier, and I personally don't assume its worth it to purchase something far better than this.

Grrrrr you beast. I purchased this sexy like biznitch about a month ago and the cream is still flowing. This issue is faster than a Ū crack-ho looking for a fix.In all seriousness... Just built a technique following have an Athlon 2200+ XP for 7 years. To maintain that one particular cool (below 60 deg C), I had a big cooler that sounded like a vacuum. IT SUCKED.This poor boy blows the doors off of anything out there (except the ridiculously high priced 965) and stays beneath 40 deg C with the stock cooler and is monumentally quieter. Now I can watch adult cinema and not wonder if the maid was vacuuming the set at the adult cinema studio. 軐.... Probably 赨 by March. If you stick your tongue in a light socket you will die....

I opted for the 940 as a middle of the road choice of the i7 chips. The chip runs ~ 37 degrees with an aftermarket Noctua cooler ƒ fans). The ability to multi-activity various applications at when w/o general technique slowdown is sweet. I purchased an early chip, so I paid dearly for it. My only hesitation is that I know I am not pushing the chip as much as it could be pushed. So, if the chip failed today, I may well drop to the 920 chip. Played Crysis on this, and no concerns. My son opted for a 9550 and saved some coin, with reasonably close overall performance. This is nonetheless going to be cutting edge for one more 6 months to a year, so it is a future searching investment.

This CPU is quick. I run CPU intensive CAD simulations for a living, mainly on multi socket, multi core machines, and some in cluster configuration. I'll have to run some far more formal benchmarks, but this single CPU is keeping up with and surpassing the monster Xeon machines I am utilized to! Welcome back hyper threading! Overclocking and fast path are limited by intel on this CPU. go to the Extreme edition to ease the restriction. Quick! The is far and away the very best processor I've ever owned. Stock cooler just OK. Their book says warranty requires 38C, but it idles at 37C to 40C.Won't allow high speed memory. Could have saved income with the 920, but I wasn't organizing on more than-clocking.

I haven't o/c'ed this negative boy but. Not only is it stable, but it is very rapid. Even though, my other parts of my system .. may possibly be a contributing element as nicely. Yes, value is a little high, but that's our price tag for getting the higher speeds as soon as it is released. Due to the fact it is newly release, incredibly restricted on parts...but that doesn't weigh to the overall rating. Runs at three.8GHz with no raising voltages, with Thermalright Accurate Copper heatsink idles at 27C, maxes at 62C in the course of Prime95 strain test. Room ambient temp 20-22C. Stock heatsink is garbage, but we know that, the price could have dropped by now. 950 came out a week later, eh... I also have 920 that runs at 2.6GHz but warmer and I was wondering if 940 is worth the additional price, but heck, why not. Neither CPU will run at 4GHz without significant enhance in voltages and I don't like that thought, I'm not a challenging core overclocker I want speed and stability. So I'm pleased with 3.8GHz, Photoshop CS4 chews by means of 200MB files without hiccups. Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, 12GB OCZ XMP RAM, CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W power supply.

This factor is super rapidly, Super good. Handles almost everything just fine. Can run Cod:World at War, running itunes in the background and getting some downloads going on, and not a hint of lag. Adore it Very worth it. Value, but you spend for what you get. Didn't purchase an aftermarket fan, but you actually don't need to have one particular, the one particular it comes with is pretty major. Works wonderful!

This was a good upgrade more than my Q8300. In stock form the i7 was a slower GHz than my OC'd Core Duo but significantly faster performance. I was able to overclock this CPU to four.1GHz with small trouble but on air it was fairly hot so I ramped it down to just under four. GHz for everyday use. A small pricey. Stock fan demands to be replaced for any overclocking attempts but that really should be expected. My stock fan on stock settings would reach 66C on Prime 95 blend at 70F space temps and idle at 29C. Wow... came from a AMD FX-55 to the i7 940. This chip is wonderful!. Super fast, mid priced (in the i7 line-up). i7-920 is a bit more affordable and performs close to what I have read... so it was a toss up. Dont know considerably about OC, but have read it is uncomplicated with this chip. I would like to OC the chip... BUT no require to. The chip is smokin quickly and takes every little thing I throw at it. Perhaps I will revisit OC down the roadPc Setup:i7 940 2.93GHzASUS Rampage II Extreme LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB Ɠ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (will go to 12GB inside the next month)COOLER MASTER Actual Power Pro RS-750- 750W ATX12V two - Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0GbATI Radeon X1800XT 512GB DDR3XCLIO A380BK ATX Full Tower Computer Case Not actually a con, but I Cant figure if CPU is operating hot or not with the stock CPU cooler. This is a quick chip. I upgraded from Core two Duo E6850. Not performing considerably overclocking, no will need to. Runs stable at three.6 Mhz. Gaming is awesome. For overclockers, you may want to go with the 920, but did overclock to three.6 and operating stable.

I am running Libronix (logos software) which is a Very large data base. This chip plus two WD VelociRaptors in a RAID configuration is unbelievably fast. Functions that I would clock in minutes now takes seconds, without having OC'ing the chip. I am in heaven.... ...but the heat feels like hell. Cores at 47 degrees or greater with the highest core at 52 at idle. Typical load puts them in the upper 50's and 60's with Video rendering putting them in the upper 80's and 90's. I am running the stock heatsink and paste now. Going to alleviate that this afternoon. Nonetheless, for the added dollars, this chip is Nonetheless WORTH IT. This CPU is really fast. I can now convert NTSC video in really small time. Very stable and suports several fantastic characteristics such hyperthreading and energy saving. QPI speed is only 4800. Not sure it is worth the difference in price of the i920. I think that the 960 could be worth the added money just to gain the faster QPI speed. This CPU is not blazing fast when converting high definition video.
