Solid, Stable rack. Abel to lock if needed. Effortless to install. Installed in a HAF 922 case. Employed 3 of the screws on the suitable side to lock it in spot. Last thought. I like the notion you don't have to lock the door to use the rack. Just insert the HDD and close the door. I'm making use of Casper 6 as my backup software program. Don't know if this is a con or not. It took me about 15 min's to get the rack to work. Tried two diverse HDD's and the rack would not see the HDD's. I was prepared to RMA the rack. The third HDD somehow turned the rack on and my BIOS saw the HDD. The rack has worked because then. Brief SATA cable for wire management. I utilized a 24" SATA cable. Nonetheless no cause to decrease an egg. I have utilized a AZIO docking station. Which I didn't like getting too push "hard" to lock the HDD in location. Then I tried a Kingwin KF 252 hot swap rack. Which seems low-cost and would move about a little within my case. It felt unstable to me. The KF-1000 was at a great cost so I believed I would give it a try. I am glad I did. Worth the money.

Once installed works great. Not actual sturdy but if mounted correct to does what it requirements to do. 1st time working with the lock method and it broke apart. Return for a new one. A little irritating since it took over a week to get new part and install it. Certain beats the objective of a how swap.

Provides a easy implies to hot swap your SATA tough drives. Really handy.. I nearly would not mount the drives into the computer and just use many of these. That way in the case of a fire or some thing you can rapidly eliminate your information drive. Pretty inexpensive construction on the door mech and several other locations... but its not like this is a โ item or anything. The item gets the job done and I am extremely tempted to get many additional... like one for my work machine and a couple of far more for residence.NOTE: your motherboard must assistance AHCI in order for you to be able to hot swap.. otherwise you will most likely lock up the method trying to add/remove. But even with out AHCI support you can nonetheless use this.. just have to turn off the machine each time.

Structure is flawless the design is freaking good. LED's tend to burn out or get really dim. I mean it isn't that negative I just take pleasure in a great solid item and the center concentrate right here is the Pro that this drive is constructed excellent. Manufacturer really should appear into altering the resistor values to the blue and amber LED/SMD's the LED on my rack three burn out and the other ones are on there way out.

Installation is good - it's a little shorter than the typical optical drive. Works perfectly for upgrading TiVo series 3/HD/HDXL PVR's. Also functions well for my low cost FreeNAS box for an extra HDD slot or two. None This is my 2nd swap rack - the 1st 1 is nonetheless working fine following more than 30 TiVo upgrades. They've improved the front latch assembly in this version - the 1st 1 I purchased has often seemed a bit flimsy. Finding another one of these as soon as the shipping is no cost once again :)

Solid construction, functions effectively. I use it to easily hot-swap drives to back-up my other Computer's. Open design lets any drive stay cool with no additional fans. Won't perform with 2.5" drives.

Easy install, worked out of box no problems with my WD Black 640GB that I bought at the similar time.Nice lights, blue Power/orange HD light. Perhaps to keep in mind to turn important. Not to be to "rough" with the metallic frame when installing it. Nice fitting internal tray, nicely packed with every little thing straight down and nicely worth the money. Feels much more high-priced.

Low price. Decent construction/materials. Superior connections. No fans (that's a plus!) LED "activity" light is kind of a joke. It's much more of a mickey-mouse way of showing activity by detecting a voltage drop in the line when it's reading/writing. Light stays on all the time and 'dims' when there's activity. Overall a great bargain. I purchased 6 of these and I'm gonna begin obtaining them for all my future pc builds. Don't feel im going to ever mount a HDD inside the case again..there's no need to have if you have a few of these. Fast and easy way to swap out drives if you continuously tinker, troubleshoot, and take your circumstances apart like I do.

Nice inexpensive hot swap bays that fit correct into my server. Solid sliding mechanism, no extra difficult drive tray to screw in. Just mount this in your server, and pop a tough drive in. No HDD energy or activity lights, but I don't actually require them anyways. I installed two of these in an existing file server, so that I could have extra storage that could be removed for off-website backup. If your motherboard supports AHCI, you will be able to hot-swap SATA drives, and it works fantastic for this purpose. Next time I build a server I'll also be purchasing a bunch of these, because they make replacing hard drives a snap and don't call for a caddy/tray for installation.

In BIOS locate Storage Config and change SATA port 1-four to AHCI, this will adjust port 5-6 also. F-ten to save and restart. W7 ought to open and then install device driver software again. Immediately after software is install a restart is required once again. This ought to permit you to now use hot swap without having rebooting. If you use an additional HDD like I do for video editing with W7 install you will have to do this all over once more. Just recall if you do this for one more HDD you will have to open BIOS and reset the Storage Config back to IDE from AHCI just before you rerun the setup again. none Hope this assists all that want Hot Swap to function with out rebooting.

Really valuable - no issues ater I finally mounted it. Proved to be very durable. Trayless style is fantastic: I have too a lot of swappable drives. Retainer program is secure and convenient, important is not needed to preserve the drive connected. As I wrote prior to, it needs access from each sides to mount. I wish it had U-shaped portion underneath instead of two separate mounting plates. Too significantly function to replace. Otherwise, I'd be buying three far more of that: all my situations have access to the drive bays only from one side. Not utilizing the molex connector, and not employing the key - it works excellent with no them. When I retrieve any of my drives following extensive use, I can still hold them, so the fan is not essential.

Trayless, activity and energy LEDs, easy, superior ventilation of drive, works. Good quality problems. Had to RMA two units. 1 had an unassembled locking mechanism (loose ball bearings and springs), another had damaged LED wiring. Lost 1 egg rating due to defective units. With no the defects mentioned in cons, this is a fantastic trayless HD rack solution.

works well for swiftly swapping SATA drives. if you use three.5" drives they slide correct into place and lock down, type of like in a RAID array, only not so properly built. unlocking the drive and totally opening the door pushes the drive out a small bit so it's uncomplicated to remove. this requires no trays, which is effortless to set up. shutting down and swapping drives is simple as altering those old nintendo cartridges. none really. it's not as nicely created as the hot swap racks in a storage array, but that's to be expected for the price. i like that it doesn't use a tray, but it indicates you have bare SATA drives laying around my desk. hang on to your anti-static bags :-) i use this device to swap the boot drive out of a machine i use for different points. i have a drive with windows on it for gaming, a drive with linux for significant stuff, and a drive with solaris x86 just since i can.

Solid build, rubber bearings, smooth operation. This unit needs mounting by screws from both sides. Unfortunately all my circumstances have one-side access only. Attaching one side doesn't work: it wiggles about. My fault - no eggs off. It is very good device and I will believe of a way to mount it.

No far more trays, quick install on some systems. Anti-vibration construction, has rubber mounts among the challenging disk part and the case mount portion. Can be challenging to install in a case with "tool totally free" technology. Because of the anti-vibration mounts, the unit is not rigid adequate to install in a typical tool no cost case. I had to remove the tool no cost hardware on the slot where I mounted mine in order to install screws. Overall this is a excellent option for those of us with many data drives that don't need to have to be in the personal computer all the time. Good bang for your buck.

This is a trayless, hot swappable rack. Nothing additional and nothing much less. It appears flimsy at very first, but as soon as you appropriately screw it into place its solid. The closing latch feels weak, but works properly. The new Rev.two rack with LEDs is a genuine plus. The front wire will catch one Velociraptor and comparable drives. Sticking a piece of paper into the rack above the drive before attempting to pull it out, fixes the dilemma. I've bought about 15 of these more than the past three years, or so. One was DOA and all the others have served me well. I'll acquire more...in reality that's what I'm here to do now.

This product is one of the finest hot swap bays I've ever worked with. I'm a computer system technician and will be recommending these to all of my co workers/customers. Some individuals feel its flimsy but thats just the rubber gaskets that maintain the drive from vibrating in the case. Incredibly secure in there, it doesn't shake around or have significantly room to move about. My case isn't huge sufficient to hold 12 of these :(. For a 1Ʌ scenario (one 5.25 to 1 three.five) this is a fantastic solution. Just wish they produced twoɇ or 3Ɉ,3ɉ versions.

Power and hd activity lighting with selection of not having any lighting altogether by not plugging in a connector. I have 3 of these exact units and they all work nicely. Hard drives don't heat up any a lot more than if installed in internal drive cage. The data connector on this unit does not accommodate the metal latch on equipped SATA2 information cables. It's nonetheless the old SATA1 style. Also, would have preferred the crucial lock to also serve as a power switch as properly as securing the drive from accidental release. Completing any electrical connection (in this case, swapping a drive in and out with the pc already powered up) need to usually involve a manual switch of some type, be it through a key switch, push button, etc. This unit works fine, but hopefully a future upgrade will resolve what I mentioned as cons.
