Will function with some of the 2.5" (laptop size) drives out there, and if it does, then it does function fine. **Way too easy to reverse energy connector and burn up your tough drive circuit board.**-and-**Some challenging drives like the ones I attempted to use didn't obtain power from this adapter. The tough drives have two ground pins and 2 Ƴv pins. This adapter delivers Ƴv to only one of those pins.**-and-**Out of the 9 that I purchased, one had the plastic molding reversed. Could confuse some folks and they could plug in energy backwards and fry a drive.** I bought 9 of these, one had the reversed plastic molding, none had a reversed power connector, none provided Ƴv energy to both of the challenging drive's power pins, so the particular model challenging drives I had didn't energy up until I modified the adapter to wire Ƴv to each Ƴv pins to make it like a various manufacturer of 2.five" adapters that I already had. Then all the drives worked fine.

Nothing fancy, but it functions wonderful. It is very delicate; just be careful and it's fine. Good for reinstalling the OS on my tablet with no CD drive.

Wonderful cost and worked perfect! I was in a position to save files and pics off crashed laptop. none so far I had to make a temp jumper on the laptop HD to make the drive a slave so desktop didn't attempt and boot to the laptop HD.One thing to feel about if you have a problem with the desktop seeing the drive or not wanting to boot at start off.

Item functions flawlessly None! You would be surprised at the amount of User error I read in these critiques on some of these products. I have in no way had a problem with anything I bought here. But just before you folks come in here and down the item, take a look at how you put it on and see if you're to blame.

It works to suite the purpose. Not a quite sturdy create and when I got the unit it had corrosion all over the contacts, bummer, immediately after cleaning and carefully installing this unit in my PC it operates okay, if you are working in the case you will need to be cautious not to hit the ribbon cable simply because the pins on the unit bend incredibly easily. Use for a temporary resolution only.

None. This adapter seems to have fried the circuitry on my laptop's tough drive when I attempted to attach it to my workhorse PC. Useless.

-Works as advertised -None yet I've read the other evaluations here about getting to modify the adapter to get it to function correct and that produced me a bit skeptical about it but when it came in the mail, it hooked up just fine to my old Sony Vaio laptop and interfaced fine with my PC. My guess is the way I received it was the intended product from the manufacturer and these other people that have had to do some thing to get it to work are the product of either poor excellent control from the manufacturer or just that small percentage of acceptable deviation getting the loudest. Either way is almost certainly a likely culprit.

This adapter worked as described I had no problems with it. The only factor I had to do was switch the jumper on laptop HD to Slave. None other than pins can bend straightforward if you're not cautious. Low cost solution for retrieving files from an IDE Laptop HD. My uncles laptop died and he had a lot of documents / loved ones photos and so on. on the HD that he wanted saved, this adapter created it effortless.

I've utilised these on all kinds of laptop drives whenever I need to hook them up to a desktop for diagnostic/imaging/etc. Never ever had a difficulty. It could be a little a lot more substantial so it was less difficult to handle. It just works. What a lot more can you want, truly?

OK, at very first I thought "man this factors looks so chinsy! It's by no means gonna function." but indeed it did and I have had no difficulties with it! Its a little fragile esp. with the power connector like that, but appears to hold up OK. I applied it to convert an old 80GB laptop HDD into a backup HDD for my desktop.

I have had two of these in occasional use for more than a year, figured it was about time to give feedback. They each work properly and I've employed both at the same time as master/slave without having difficulties. Cost/performance is correct, don't realize the other complaints. Maybe they don't fully grasp jumpers. None. I wouldn't call it low cost, but you do have to be cautious in handling and inserting in the mating IDE connectors.

As soon as I got these cleaned up, they worked good! I was able to add both my old dell laptop drive and the new drive I bought to my junk rig and directly clone the old to the new employing the Seagate Disc Wizard. BE WARNED!!! As I received these, brand new in their bags, the pins were so dirty that only one of the two adapters I purchased was functioning, and only intermittently. The other, not at all. I cleaned both sets of pins with a papertowel and alcohol. BANG! each function like a charm. Cleanliness is next to godliness. Look at the plugged pin location for orientation. Don't rely on the power's getting near the red stripe----it's on the other side with these puppies.

Great adapter... worked perfectly and did just what I wanted. My laptop had crashed and I was able to retrieve all of my information... it has been handy to have around because then, and have helped pals out too. Effortless to misplace. Wish it had a case to put it in so it would be much better protected. I don't think it is as "flimsy" as some other critiques say. I've employed it numerous times and it's as sturdy as ever. Just be gentle with it as you would with any other piece of laptop or computer hardware.

Finally use those old tough drives stuck in broken laptops! ...and have the adapter break soon after trying to install it! Seriously, these adapters are fine but only if you're particularly gentle with them. I bought four, only two stay. Extremely shoddy workmanship on these factors.

It works as expected. Had an old laptop die on me and I needed to get some info off of it. Hooked this poor boy up to my desktop and transferred all information onto my other HDD. Restored information for ŭ instead of paying HP a 跌 fee. Superior 'ol Eggy. Not the most sturdy product Ive bought, but it works as intended. Wouldnt advise utilizing this for 24ǝ. Buy it, its easy to install and works as advertised.

Does precisely what it's supposed to do !!Have used it to clone or transfer data off of numerous laptops with zero troubles.. It's not actual rugged, but for the funds what can you expect ?? Use an old ATA33 non-keyed cable and leave the adapter end permanently on there. and be cautious with it..

It works, converts a two.5" IDE to a three.5" IDEyou require a MOLEX 4-pin energy for this device it appears a bit flimsy, also adds a excellent 1ǚ" to the back of the 2.five" drive, just before you factor in the major IDE cable, tension could get to be a bit a lot for your drive It works, its affordable, but i purchased it and then sold the drive for about the identical quantity i paid, i nonetheless have the adapter, but no way to use it, oh nicely

None. A affordable piece of junk that didn't work, just like quite a few others skilled. Every little thing. Even the power pins would not stay inside the connector. Don't waste your dollars on a cheap item that demands you to open your case to connect something temporary. There are external enclosures that allow you to insert a hard drive and connect either a SATA or PATA drive to an external USB or SATA port that cost only ฟ a lot more. By the way, the drive that didn't function with the inexpensive adapter worked fine with the enclosure. This is the second DOA product I have received from Newegg.
