the LED could turn red when burning, like lite-ons.High Speed CD/DVD burner. OEM (meaning cheaper, screw the box), sata, works well wih xp, windows 7, and 7 64bit. quite 90% of the time. |

Have used LG for many years with good experiences. Burned countless CD's and DVD's. LG's seem to be more user friendly than some of the other brands. Every manufacturer has some good and some not so good. |

This DVD writer is not Lightscribe-enabled. Which, if you're like me, is 'exactly' why this product is so attractive.With all the cases touting 5.25" tool-free installation bays, there isn't much worth saying about installation.This optical disc drive functions as it should: without issue.Have bought several for different builds.Will surely buy again. This drive is great if you use it for desktop application. It is not an extraordinary drive but it does the job if you only need it to read dvds or write some. It seems to have some problems with dvd-rom . |

This drive (at least mine in particular) seems to take issue with reading DVD-ROM discs. It takes one and a half to two minutes to rev up to full speed. It then runs as you'd expect, but it always take that long to get up to a proper speed, prior to that it crawls along.The included software (a bonus for OEM) is garbage really. It's got LG branded all over it, which just serves to slow it down when loading, as you have to sit there and watch the LG logo animate a few times. The software is designed for Windows XP and includes a mix of Nero and Cyberlink products. |
this drive is very nice to use, it handles nicely, no reading errors, and same with burning. no problems with the drive at all, i highly recommend this drive to anyone building a discount system.
