Functions. Permitted me to use my trusty quiet Antec 20-pin provide on my 24-pin Mobo, a Biostar A770. None so far... just be careful not to overload your technique. In a true 24-pin power supply the added pins will be on separate rails to assure constant, even voltage. By 'jumping' onto pins of that exact same voltage, you are circumventing the design.
