We paid โ for one of these at function. I kept stealing it to use at property over the weekend. When I saw the low value on this one decided to just get my own. Haven't had any complications but haven't had much opportunity to use it however. Tried out a pata laptop drive and one of the sata drivers from my system and both worked just fine. None

I wouldn't know because it by no means worked, but I guess it was fairly inexpensive. This product did not function when I pulled it out of the box. I attempted two unique OS's and two various tough drives and followed the instructions that had been included to the letter.

I have utilized 1 of these on my test bench PC for more than a year with no troubles and ordered a second one recently. Throw the power supply away right away. Why would any person trust this power supply. Just picking it up you can feel the cheapness of it. Get a Decent PC Energy supply with more connections than you require and basically use this as a USB to IDE (or SATA) Adapter and it works fine. Or much better nonetheless uncover an old energy provide and jump it so it will turn on without having a personal computer and use that for power. Aside from the energy provide this thing functions fine.

Dirt low cost. Best for cdroms and the occasional harddrive. Not the very best luck with harddrives, but I by no means applied it for that too a lot. Commonly worked about 60% of the time with a harddrive, but 95% of the time with a cdrom. I have an older model that I picked up on Newegg more than a year ago...about 15 months now. I'm not sure how a lot as changed due to the fact then.

low cost doesn't function hardly ever. tried 10 drives, only five spun up, and only 1 transferred information. employing yet another brand of cable all the drives spun up and all mounted as drives. absolutely junk. unless I got a dead unit. but from the evaluations I see that u r just destined to get hosed acquiring this factor. it worked when so i know it isn't 100% dead, but come on...poor excellent... no QA or something....I give it 1 yellow zit

It works! Power plugs tend to be a pain in the side to get into tough drives, these ones went nicely in. The installation disk (for 98 and 2000) came cracked. I only noticed it as i was dropping it into the garbage, becuase ... seriously ... who makes use of 98 or 2000 anymore? Just buy it!

Works perfectly with my hard drive and DVD drive (watching a movie on it appropriate now). No noticeable speed loss when opening files off hard drive. Drives remain cool so no be concerned about over heating. Didn't like one of my CD drives, but I'm leaving that 1 inside the personal computer, so it won't matter. Arrived early, during Christmas week no much less! Can I give an additional egg for this?

Plug and play on my Ubuntu 8.10 machine till... I noticed the sadly too familiar scent of burning electronics [SATA CD Rom drive] and the CD drive and the power cables were hot to the touch. I haven't had the guts to attempt anything else for fear of ruining something. Never got a likelihood to see if anything would truly read/write...

Good small device. Hooks up straightforward. All cables required. Driver Disk if needed. None so far that i can see. It is operating one of my SATA 250G Difficult drives now. If you do any kind of computer repair like i do you should own 1 of these. I bought two and just love them. No pc tech must be without having one.

Easy to use, self explanitory implementation. plastic style makes it very fragile. also somewhat sketchy efficiency on specific drives. Decent for beginners, do not depend on this tool, have a distinct one and use this strictly as a back up in case of emergency

Not certain why I didn't get 1 of these points earlier. Beneficial tool for diagnostics & data recovery. I didn't have any trouble with it during the first month. Haven't needed to use it considering that. Labeling on device could be a small far better. I hate wall warts and messy power supplies. Could be a small neater, but no worse than several others. (Didn't pay a premium for 'cool' engineering.) There are other people marketed under other names that appear precisely the exact same as this based on on-line pictures and descriptions.

It seems to function with IDE CD-ROM, Difficult Drive with both Vista and Windows XP. Made in China Top quality. When I connected it with a SATA challenging drive that I hoped to recover data from, it did't do anything regrettably. Instead, it stopped working in a couple of minutes. The adapter failed in such a short amount of time, which I can't comprehend why. I have a different item, which is quite much the same as this one except the names of the firm that produced it. They function about the same, but the quality cannot be trusted. I purchased this item since of high rating, but I regret getting this product because of poor quality manage for Produced-in_China items.Newegg only refunded me the original cost of the defectivfe product excluding shipping each techniques. They lost nothing, and I spent shipping each techniques in vain for a non-working product.I have been a consumer with Newegg.com for many years. But simply because of this nonsense policy, I may by no means come back to Newegg.com if they don't give me a credit for shipping each techniques for a defective product that did not function the very first time.

works properly, high speed the sata power connector is type of challenging to attach to the key power connector mainly because the holes moves a bit and it doesnt fit nicely. It doesnt have a power shut down button like other people simple to carry, the power adapter really should be smaller

This dongle can handle IDE or SATA drives. I employed it on XP to image a SATA drive. No problems. Drive showed up in XP with no drivers (was able to recover some data too). It comes with everything you need to run such as drivers for Win98. I wish it had LEDs to indicate drive activity. When I initially plugged it in, it didn't show up and I did not know if the drive was faulty, the device was faulty or what. I had to put the drive to my ear to hear it spinning. It took awhile to recognize the drive in Windows - you require to plug the USB cable in last.It also has a weird dual USB plug cable on one finish. Maybe there is a reason for this, but I don't see why I require two USB plugs. I didn't know if I needed to plug both in (you don't) or just 1. I have't tried and IDE drive however, but it looks like the energy input will be quite close. I hope it fits and will come across out in the future.Power brick is kinda large, I wish it was smaller or much better but, integrated into the dongle.Overall, superior for the cost.

It lets you hook up fairly a lot any drive out there, Sata, pata 3.5" and pata two.five". I think on 2.five" pata drives it even supplies energy from the USB side. GOt about 35MB/s so it's as fast as other USB solutions. Be incredibly incredibly carefull with the adapter. I had mine blown up on me and take out the fuse. Opening up the adapter showed me a pulverized fuse. Only the ends exactly where partially left. The adapter was filled with glass dust. On the backside 1 of the copper trails was burned out/ripped appart going from 1 pin to the diode (the fuse is connected on the other pin) It's cheap it does what its supposed to do, but the adapater is seriously poop.

Does specifically what it's supposed to. For the cost, I got nothing to complain about. Plenty of utilizes for this thing.Excellent for: emergency information retrieval, when you need to have IDE on a machine that only has SATA ports, connecting an old two.5" IDE drive for low-cost and straightforward, multi GB removable storage.

I've only tested two harddrives: a 3.5 SATA and a three.5 PATA. Each worked Wonderful! Just plug the drive in and then the USB and presto! No drivers required in XP. The packaging and physical excellent of the item has a very low-cost really feel to it. I've noticed McDonalds toys that are built better. I'm also a bit warry that the energy supply might fail since it appears so low cost. But an ATX power supply can be employed to energy the drives also. For PATA drives the device plugs directly into the back of the drive, so no IDE cable is necessary. A Serial cable is included.

Work fine unless you use the power supply, then it fries drives Fries drives, therefore losing useful data!!! These are hit or miss no matter whether they fry your drive or not. If you don't care about your information, roll the dice, but if you do, remain AWAY from this product. I run a team of 8 IT technicians at a Fortune 100 corporation and we utilized these, we fried four challenging drives in less than a month! Returned for credit.

Absolutely nothing Absolute junk. I plugged this into my challenging drive, and the thing started smoking and one of the chips on the bottom caught fire. Afterward it wouldn't work at all, and neither would the USB adapter. Newegg mentioned to contact Link Depot, Link Depot by no means returned my emails. So far I'm out a USB adapter and a tough drive.
