Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:Don't expect that fancy design on the mouse to stay there, after many hours of use it's discolored from the oils in your skin.

Pros:Very accurate allows me to move the mouse only an inch in either direction to sweep across the entire screen, Adjustable weight to keep it planted to your mousepad
Comment:
I'm very pleased with this mouse, it's quite comfortable to use for extended gaming sessions multiple buttons allow me to switch weapons/fire grenades on the fly and the fact that you can unlock the scrolling wheel for web browsing is another plus as it allows you to fly through the webpage in a matter of seconds.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:-To small of a mouse-I do not need this high of DPI

Pros:-Adjustable DPI, all the way to 5700-Hyper-fast scrolling-Back/Forward buttons
Comment:
If you have a G5, stick with it if you do not need the DPI increase. I only bought this since my G5 broke but the G5 even felt better. I wish I had bought a SideWinder X8, I had used it and it was much better for larger hands. Not worth the price at all.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:-Shape and feel for 'claw' type users still isn't great. Mind you, a huge improvement from the G5.

Pros:-Very Smooth-Excellent Tracking-5 On-The-Fly Adjustable DPI's (200-5700)-Dual Mode Scroll Wheel (I've found this very useful)
Comment:
I've moved from a G5 to a G500 and I'm very glad I made the move. The overall shape and feel is much better, although it still could be better for 'claw' style users. I'm not sure I could ever be comfortable using 5700 DPI (too touchy), but if the need was there, I have that option.Overall great buy.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:Game detection seems hit or miss, but that is a software issue and can be fixed. (They are aware and have passed it along to the techies.)Wish it had the multi colour LEDs the G9 has, but it's a minor gripe. (My PC is black/blue themed.)

Pros:Buttons, lots o buttons. (3 thumb buttons being the cats meow.)No battery swapping! (Used G7s previously.)Did I mention the buttons?Comfortable.
Comment:
I went from the MX 1000(x2), to the G7(x2) and loved both mice. I recently bought a Razer Lachesis, but it is back in it's box. I much prefer the feel of the Logitech mice I have used. I am a palm gripper, not a claw gripper and the G500s shape is ideal for me. This review was modfied by poster @ 12-09-09 12:24 PM

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:Little expensive, but on sale it's worth it.

Pros:Excellent feelCustomizable buttons in the right placesScoll wheelVery comfortable5700 dpi
Comment:
I love this mouse. All of the buttons are in the right places, all customizable. 5700 dpi is a little fast for me right now, but it always takes a while to get used to a different speed. Software is excellent. Got it on sale for 69, totally worth the money for a quality mouse.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:Configurable weights not heavy enough compared to G5, Thumb button placement

Pros:Insane DPI (normally running at 4000dpi), Lots of buttons,
Comment:
Purchased this replace my dead 1st gen G5. Has the same great feel as the G5. The triple thumb buttons take a bit to get used to. Also took a few days to dial in the settings for the mouse for gaming. It was worth the extra money to get the g500 over the g5.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:-Not a big fan of the software-Thumb buttons could have been placed better

Pros:-Comfort-10 programmable buttons-Crazy high, adjustable dpi-Braided cable-Configurable weights
Comment:
I went from a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse to this and I'm very happy. The Microsoft was a bit uncomfortable in long gaming sessions, but the G500 has been excellent. I can see the software being confusing to newbies, but since this is a gaming mouse most people should have no problems. Adjustable dpi, tons of buttons, and great looks make this a mouse that will serve me well for years to come.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:- Not as comfortable as if should be- Only 1 profile

Pros:- Superb tracking- Very good weight- Smooth gliding- Rough textured surface for thumb rest prevents slippage- Extremely customizable- Very, very high sensitivity
Comment:
Perhaps one of the best palm grip style mouse there is.Feels slightly larger than the MX518, and waaaaay more sensitive, that's for sure. Glides more smoothly as well but does not slip as easily, attributing this to the weight of the mouse.I'd rate this 4.5 stars since the ergonomics of the mouse isn't the best and that it has only 1 profile, but this is just due to my preference, and your mileage may vary =)Note: My hand spans 8 inches from the base of the wrist to the tip of my middle finger.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:- None

Pros:- Weight tuning- Sensitivity adjustment- Extremely comfortable- Great tracking- Dual-mode scroll wheel
Comment:
The G500 replaces my dead Razer DeathAdder, and it's a great upgrade. Tracking is perfect on a Razer Destructor pad, and the shape of the mouse makes it really comfortable.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:Color schemeMouse wheel is a 'tad bit sensitive when set on free spinMouse wheel feels a bit flimsy

Pros:Ability to change weightChanging mouse DPI on the flyStronger material used on mouse wireAbility to change the scroll wheel spin speed
Comment:
Overall a good mouse, high DPI and pretty decent software for changing options how ever you like (much like most mouses aimed at gaming). Also, while I have yet use it, you can change what DPI your mouse runs at for each level instead of it being pre-determined. Honestly not a fan of the color scheme, but I prefer solid colors so take this with a grain of salt.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:-no led change option like the g9-unit makes faint buzzing noise (ala televison hummm)..could just be a bad capacitor in mine.

Pros:-fit snugly for user who like to rest their whole hand on the mouse.-the improved mouse wheel is a joy to use and the placement to switch between hyperscroll/normal setting is logical and convinient (unlike the g9...)-side buttons are firm but at the same time not overly hard to press-additional side button in the middle increases overall customization-adjustable weight to keep the mouse on the desk during those clutch moment in games.-colour scheme is sooooooooooooooooo much better than the 2nd generation. easy to fit with the rest of my gaming equipments-rough inner edge (where u rest ur thumb) on the side for improved grip on the mouse.
Comment:
made the switch from razer deathadder to this a couple weeks ago. Have been happy so far with my decision as the mouse's shape are identical enough for me to feel right at home. i wish ncix would have allowed a better replacement plan as my mouse emits this high pitched hmm during operation. Given my silent case setup it was easy to hear when i am not gaming/listening to music. i was able to exchange it once for a brand new one but was denied for another exchange as the replacement also hmms. i guess i'd have to take this up to logitech and hope for the best... not exactly something i'd expect to run into straight out of the pacakge but i guess thats just life.in brief, this is an excellent gaming mouse if u are a palm user. Although one should be minful of the limited ncix coverage in case of QA issue on some of the units.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:Well I had hoped that we could change the LED colours, but we can not. =(

Pros:Seriously? Everything. If you are a fan of their G5, then you will love this. This is a solid mouse. Improved form to better fit and support your hand, new free-scrolling wheel mode, extra thumb button, great software with custom profiles [app detection, dpi switching, binds].
Comment:
This mouse is pretty much exactly what I've wanted from a mouse. I previously owned a wireless Logitech MX1000 and when I made the move to the wired G5 for gaming I missed the fitting form and the extra buttons. I especially missed having a third thumb button. Then I test drove the G9 and fell in love with their scroll wheel but felt the G9's size to be too small, more of a laptop size. Now the G500 is out and I'm in heaven! The only improvements short of shedding the wire without loss of performance or making the free-scroll wheel somehow [magic] switch modes automatically would be the build quality of some parts. I see some other Logitech mice and see their "metal" "chrome" buttons which actually seem to be slightly sturdier than the plastic wheel and side buttons here on the G500. If they added that feel to these buttons then it would be perfect.Oh and bring back the LED colour option as seen on the G9 please!

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:none

Pros:adjustable weight, 5700 DPI, comfortable design, programmable buttons, microgear system
Comment:
I bought this mouse to replace my VX Revolution, because I was tired of replacing batteries. This is the first 'gaming grade' mouse I've ever owned and I have to say I'm impressed. It is very comfortable for long term gaming and features such as the adjustable weight system allow for an even more custom feel. The programmable buttons are a breeze to set thanks to the included setpoint software. Although 5700 DPI may seem to be overkill, it's nice to have the option to go up all the way there if needed.

Logitech G500 Black Wired Laser Gaming Mouse
Cons:shape, scroll wheel

Pros:Tracking, button clicks, scroll wheel, durability
Comment:
Well Logitech, I decided to give you a second chance and I am very happy I did. As much as people hate to admit, the g5 was a terrible gaming mouse. Just like all first gen "gaming" grade laser mice, it was horrible. It couldn't track for its life. A very well built mouse with a gimp sesor. The g500 is a similar shape, a bit better in my opinion although I hate the logitech shape in general, it forces a "palm grip" which reduces accuracy. The sensor is located very high up on the underbody of the mouse to compensate for the palm grip it forces, and, with a slight adjustment it works very well I would say. the scroll wheel is buttery smooth although it does have that anoying sideways scroll. Tracking is unbelievably better than the g5. It tracks very well and its lack of angle snapping predictions is very noticeable. A great sensor from Avago technologies indeed. This mouse can track well at any dpi with a good mouse pad. I have many but the 9HD is my most recent and it tracks like a dream, even at 400 dpi, and 1.0 in game. Something the g5 couldn't even dream of. Other mice I own and use are the Razer Mamba, deathadder, lachesis, g5 (unfortunatly), and the coolermaster sentinel. This mouse is on par if not better than all the rest. While The Mamba, the main competitor, has a much more accommodating shape, arguably better design, and many more features, however the hight of the sensor on the bottom of the mouse is much lower than the g500 which makes it feel slower at equal resolutions. If you are a palm gripper this mouse is good for you. If you arent, like me, it is still useable and very precise, but it isn't the comfiest. The mamba and deathadder are more comforatble for various handgrips.I play counterstrike competitively and this mouse would more than satisfy me if it was the only one in my house. I realize I gave more info than you probably needed. Sorry for wasting your time, if not, I'm glad this long post helped make an informed decision.

This is an amazing mouse. Bought it to replace the G5. Kind of pricey if your G5 is in good condition. Mine was worn and torn so it was definitely worth it. Got it on sale too so it was cheaper than replacing my G5. But this mouse is probably the best gaming mouse in the market to date. Pretty much everything a G5 has, but more.
