MSI 890FXA-GD65 ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons:NB heatsink not as robust as it could be, no front USB 3.0 header onboard

Pros:great features, good quality components, nice overclocking ability
Comment:
Overall a great board for the budget gamer. Great overclockability and you can even throw an FX processor in it if you want (not tested myself, but have seen it online). Dual x16 in crossfire and USB 3.0/SATA 6Gb/s to top it off. Would definately recommend to friends.

The specs on this board appear incredible. I ordered but do not have it but. Will post once again when installed. If I do have a issue, it looks like I have an email for tech assistance from the earlier posts here. Three eggs for optimism. Nicely, I was feeling confident about ordering an "open box acquire" from Newegg. Even so, it looks like I might be getting one particular of the prior posters board that they RMA'd. Now I also see that that the price of a NEW board with totally free shipping is practically the very same value I paid for a utilized one particular. Oh, My Goodness ! I am a tiny nervous. Dear MSI, I promise to give you a glowing critique if my board works as it must. If I do have a challenge, then I expect it to be resolved swiftly with tech help. If not, then I go elsewhere. That is my guarantee. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued MSI Consumer,We would like to apologize for the concern you have experienced with this certain mb. New make, motherboard is wonderful so far. Anything worked suitable away. Phenom II x4 965, G.Skill 8 gigs, evga gtx 460, 10k WD HDD all fired up the initial time. Glad I went with Sata 6./USB three. just for future-proof-ness. My personal computer is muuuuch more quickly than my 7 yr/old pentium M 1.6. None so far. Becoming the initial make in a lengthy time for me, I had some difficulty attaching the stock AMD phenom ii heatsink. Ended up loosening the plastic mounting bracket a quarter turn on each screw in order to get the second metal latch to set. Then meticulously snugged it up after flipping the lever over.

MSI 890FXA-GD65 ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons:No Firewire ???

Pros:Lots of USB ports
Comment:
Bought this motherboard in a bundle (with a Phenom-II 1100T Black Box).I replaced an ASUS A8N-E / Athlon 5000+ Black Box and all I did was wait for Windows 7 to finish installing the new drivers, and except for 2 peripherals (network and USB 3.0), all went automatically. Windows re-activated itself. Best and easiest update  I ever did ! (and I've done a lot).

Installed without having a hitch. Overclock and core unlock features perform flawlessly with AMD Phenom II X4 820 and G.SKILL Ripsaws although I didn't max out OC settings with either CPU or memory. No temp/performance monitoring software? Cmon MSI, you can do it. As opposed to other people, I had nary a fuss with USB devices (using Win 7 Pro 32) even so the USB 3. ports do need the driver to be installed just before becoming offered.

How many folks basically own a 1366 board and cpu and use it for something other than gaming? If you have the programs and information base needing raid anything needing fastest speeds, go intel. If not, it's a waste of money. If you game and/or do some video editing for your self that is not on a enterprise scale, then AMD is all you need to have. Paying outragious costs is stupid just so you can tell other people in the know that you have an intel 1366 rig is idiotic. None. I like beer......didn't get any so I bought my own. Amd with ati graphics in any kind of xfire is all most men and women need these days. Unless you have dollars to burn and like bragging rights, the xxxFX boards will do any individual quite effectively. I have two 5670's in a software xfire and it owns period! Of coures I use a hex core cpu and 8gigs of ram, but I'll tell you one thing, it was a third much less then this thing referred to as intel and high finish nvidia graphics!.This board is incredibly capable and will do everyone incredibly properly. I don't even care what a bulldozer can do, this board and am3 cpu's will rock for along time to come. Waiting for programs to catch up.......makes this priceless. two pcie 16 slots operating x16....incredibly nice! Make your rig about a excellent processor, 8gig's of ram and your vid card will adore you.

This board had everything necessary to be a solid long term performer. MSI's military grade components are just the very best in the sector and do a wonderful job of being forgiving of some my more than-clocking blunders and does a good job of dealing the truth that the 890FX chipset runs a little hot. I would like to have observed a third PCI-X x16 slot to enable Tri-fire and the location of the sysfan3 fan header makes using it a cable routing nightmare. Each of these are "knit-picky" and not really adequate to take an egg away given the price/performance of this board. I am obsessive when it comes to cable routing in my case and like to use all of of the fan headers the mother board. That being the case the sysfan3 header has presented a fairly huge challenge in a HAF 912 Advanced. This may possibly be much less of a challenge in a diffrent case or if you are not really as fanatical about cable routing.

A great mother board but keep in mind (if you have to use it) that the pci port will be cover by a videocard if you make a SLI or CrossFire configuration. Didn't think about that when I brought it. But that is my fault

Good overclocking board. For the funds spent, I really feel you get a "LOT" for the value. OC's my 1055T to three.6GHz with hardly any troubles and low voltage. The layout is best IMO, and the Best function which most motherboard vendors overlook is the northbridge and southbridge heatsinks ARE BOLTED DOWN!!! They don't use the low cost plastic push pins!!! really nice feature, assures even pressure on those chips for decent cooling. Since this board is so "NEW" there is however to be any BIOS updates. I spent a couple of hours figuring out why my 6870GPU was running in 8x speed, and I found there to be a bug in the bios. FSB (HTT) speed from 201-217 puts your card in 8x mode (for me atleast) and HTT from 260-xxx puts it in 8x mode. So I have mine @ 259x14 multi for 3.6GHz and PCIe is @ 16x speed. MSI, please update the BIOS!! I called your tech support and told them about this, hopefully somebody will fix it, and feasible enhance other OC'ables too, like ram!! Excellent board, SOLID VALUE, and would buy 100 more if I required them!

MSI 890FXA-GD65 ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons:none

Pros:Great features, OC genie, price!
Comment:
A truely great board. I am very pleased with this purchase! Got it on sale with an 1100T and I have no complaints. A very durable board with great heatsinks, USB 3.0, etc. OC Genie works fine, although you can definently overclock better yourself. (OC Genie clocked to 3.8Ghz, while manual clocking got stability at 4.3Ghz.)Keep in mind that while the board does support RAM clocks up to 2133Mhz, Phenom II procs will only handle 1333Mhz, so right now that fetaure is largely useless (although it is futureproof).

I just want to ask the people today that already received it how quite a few SATA cables did it come with inside the box? Also, for those that have no problems installing win7 Ultimate 64bit... did you load the RAID drivers initial working with F6 for the duration of windows install? Did you switch the SATA drive you're installing win7 on to AHCI very first?Sorry for too a lot of questions... I just truly want to know since I'm trying to avoid as significantly difficulty as I can when I start off constructing with this mobo. I've searched for critiques about this board but there's hardly any right now given that this board is nonetheless kinda new...Thanks in advance for anybody who would reply! :D-ranze-

None This garbage motherboard was defective from the get go. I was not able to play any games on it they would fail before running. Prime95 would fail correct away. I verified the CPU was working on my older personal computer it would run Prime95 fine. I also test my RAM with Memtest86+ and The Windows memory diagnostic tools so I know the problem was the motherboard. I RMA it back to Newegg and now they are shipping it back so I can send it to the manufacture even though It’s not even one month old. Newegg customer support is extremely unhelpful I hope they burn in hell. Uncomplicated to follow instructions with all the right functions with out going cheapo. all the tools you want to unlock the core in the bios setup. had trouble receiving it to work at very first. would get stuck on core logo screen but following putting in a brand new dvd rom and diffrent sata cables it powered up just fine. Not certain if i set up crossfire right either I read alot of bad critiques but this product is truly solid. i got discouraged at initial when it didnt work, i had put it together right after i got off work, and on leading of that this is my initially construct. none-the-less i got it up and running all by myself.

Pros:Good price, good specs, good mid range board

this is actually my second attempt into the realm of crossfire/ddr3, and so fair I'm impressed. My only gripe is that if I were to run two cards in crossfire, I would not be able to use my wifi pci card =/ minor gripe on a very capable board. Two 16x 2,0 PCI-e rails, 4 DIMMs of DDR3 up to 2133, and for under $140, tough to beat!

Every little thing you need in an enthusiast motherboard,Install went ideal, completely no complications.!Great to see heatsinks with screws instead of plastic push-pins. no black AM3b socket-we will see about the AM3+ support down the road.I would like to see some stronger springs on the heatsink screws,a small too weak for my taste(like every single other spring out there)
