Good deal for cost
Comment:
My OEM fan died and needed to be replacemented. Most of the other fans would not cool at over 3 GHz, but this one does up to 3.4 GHz and comes with the thermotransfer paste already installed which makes for an easy install. I would recommend it to a friend.

Nice copper heat-sink. Quiet fan, and it works better then the old one that crapped out on me, what more can you ask for...?

Nice and quick and clip is just fine
Comment:
No issues at all to report. Quality product and easy install. Also, important note: Don't need thermal grease -- as the heat sink comes pre-greased. Bottom line: Good deal.

It Died!
Comment:
I purchased this fan to replace the factory installed CPU fan that ran for years without a problem. I purchased on April 24,3009, it died on September 4, 2008. I didn't even make through the warranty period. Except with it dying, I did not have a problem with it. :(

Not for me
Comment:
I bought this to replace a older version of the same fan. This one is too large and the small assembly screws contact the plastic CPU mount. You will have to cut out groves for the screws to clear so that the heatsink/fan can contact the CPU. No, not for me. At this price, it should of been flawless. It's on it's way back and I will have to eat the return shipping, which I don't mind, if I am at fault.

Was well worth it for me.
Comment:
I was a little skeptical. I was running an older ASUS mother board combo that I had originally purchased with a P4 2.0 ghz processor. I had upgraded to a 2.4 ghz processor and shortly after saw a Prescott 2.8 and was still having a little trouble gaming with a 512 meg APG video card so I spent another $30 bucks. Man I saw an improvement for about 10 minutes until my power supply smoked. I found out after running the ASUS probe that I was reaching processor temps of 170! Well after purchasing this cooling fan I dropped my processor gaming temp over 10 and my idle temp from 155 to 145 or less. Very easy to install and I found the clips that I read some complaints about to be easier than the annoying P4 478 socket clamps to install. The fan is as quiet or more quiet than the factory P4 aluminum heat sink block fan which ran at about 3100 vs the 3800 rpm this fan runs at. Well worth it if temp is your issue and you have the old original aluminum clunker of a heat sink and fan.

So Far So Good
Comment:
I thought I burned up my Prescott CPU at 92F. Replaced the stock cooler with this and it is holding at 50-52F. In use for 2 months...so far so perfect.

Good Product
Comment:
Very good cooler for a pentium 4 478 up to 3.4 Ghz. Ordered this after seeing some reviews. Works like a charm right out of the box. The clips are thumb busters but got it to clip on after a "litle" strugle. I've order several thing from here any never had any problems. Awsome company with very good products.

Comment:
First one arrived damaged, but they replaced it quickly. Fan is kind of noisy, I think they all are. It works good. Appears well built. I like the copper heatsink all though the fins are delicate.

Good value, cools well, lousy tech support
Comment:
Price is right and it cools my wife's computer 10 to 30 degrees lower than the stock HS/fan, depending on the load. HOWEVER, the instructions that come with the unit are lousy, and tech support is not helpful. We figured it out on our own, and it works well, regardless.

Excellent cooler for P4/Prescott CPU
Comment:
upgraded to P4/3.0GHz/Prescott "478" CPU. Was running 46degC no load/60degC full load. This heatsink/cooler dropped it down to 43degC no load / 55degC full load. It's quiet compared to near stock aluminum heatsink/fan. Fan runs about 3800rpm. The Prescott CPU's run hotter compared to the Northwood and this was the best rated CPU fan combo I could find short of going water cooled. Highly recommended for anyone seeing heat spikes in full load processing!

Masscool / Soccket 478 / Intel Pentium 4/Celeron up to 3.4GHz / Ball Bearing / Copper Core / CPU Cooling Fan
Comment:
This is an excelent budget cooler, works better then most high priced coolers. My dad loves the new cooler shaved 10*F off the cpu temp.. About the clips.. If you have trouble putting them on try shaving some plastic off the P4 bracket (not weaken the metal by bending it) if you ever want to remove and re-install, that is. just shave the plastic bracket down where the clamps hold on so it isn't so hard to pop in. then you can remove for cleaning etc.. again DON'T bend the metal!!

Masscool / Soccket 478 / Intel Pentium 4/Celeron up to 3.4GHz / Ball Bearing / Copper Core / CPU Cooling Fan
Comment:
This fan is a great if you are looking to upgrade an existing 478 CPU or, for whatever reason, you are building a system w/ a 478 mobo. Pros: The stock Tyco fan that came w/ my VAIO was a P.O.S that sounded like a leaf blower so the Masscool works great because it is whisper quite. It also cools better than the average stock fan (45c running multiple apps - 53c w/ a fairly heavy load.) Also, this fan is almost the same dimensions of stock 478 fans so fitting it into even a micro tower is not an issue. Cons: The attachment clips are a huge pain (thumb breakers) and I had to mod. one of the clips slightly by bending it to get it lock in. Took more time than I wanted by a long shot and killed my thumbs.

Comment:
It does cool down my P4 HT 3.06gHz CPU, and its better than the stock fan that came with the CPU originally and is definitely quieter, but not to the point that its noiseless. Very easy to install, tho taking the stock fan out took me a bit of looking into. Overall I am pretty happy with it.

I have over 2,000 systems I have built out in service over the years, this is a very good fan and quiet. dropped the cpu temp from 41-44C to 30-33C in gaming w/ a celron 3.2 compared to the fan that was orginally recommended by Tiger which fried after 13 months, bearings failed

Everything is awesome about this cooling system. One thing I am very upset about is the fact that it doesnt come with a compatible supporter ''bracket that fastens it to the motherboard''. Altho the cheaper $10 coolings systems do. I was really upset after finding out I couldnt use it until i get the new brackets. other then that. its a nice cooling system and is relly heavy duty IMO

This product runs very cool AND quiet. It replaced a stock fan that ran so hot it 'melted' my video card. (I had to replace them both.) I'm really happy with my purchase and will be getting another one for my husband's computer to replace his stock fan. Installation was fairly easy (I didn't even need to look at the instructions), although the clips were a little tough, but that's a good thing -- it means when you get it in there, it's secure.

Masscool / Soccket 478 / Intel Pentium 4/Celeron up to 3.4GHz / Ball Bearing / Copper Core / CPU Cooling Fan
Comment:
The fan howled on this. I inserted a 18ohm 1Watt resistor in-line with the 12V. This lowered the noise and the RPM to about 3100. The CPU temperature only rose a few degrees (from 42 to 44degC); I also beefed up some of the case fans, though. This was the lowest dBa fan in store when I purchased it. I am glad I got the copper core. I think this lets you reduce the RPM with the better heat conductivity.

It's no quieter than a factory cooler, but it does offer a significant drop in temperature. Even under full load I rarely break 40c.

I bought this fan not because it is quiet but because it keeps my p4 3.0 at 47C underload playing fear with settings maxed. its like a sports car, its not quiet but who cares it performs like a champ even after 2 years.
