Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:Doesn't seem to have many outstanding featuresMay have to download 64bit drivers for some devices.

Pros:Got it at a price that compares to XP priceVisualsEase of transitioning between windows with the scroll feature
Comment:
Vista is a great looking OS that really improves navigation, but that's about it. I didn't have much issues with getting 64 bit drivers. Most of the 64bit drivers are provided on the manufacturer's website. If I was given the choice between XP and Vista, I think I still would go with Vista in the end.

Cons:64 bit is sometime difficult

Pros:Vista is great, all the bugs and initail big trouble are gone and the support is good.
Comment:
Bought this in special for about a 100 $. Really happy with my purchase. I really prefer it over XP, prrettier, more friendly. The only limitations is the 63 bit parts.... was a pain with a TV tuner card. Recoomend it to everyone !

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:drivers, its like a whole new OS

Pros:Aero features, 64 bit makes 4gB of ram usable
Comment:
I am very satisfied with Vista so far.I can't understand why people are having so many problems with it. The only thing I don't like is the lack of support for x64 bit drivers. I couldn't find anyway to hookup my printer to my computer, no drviers available (and its a lexmark), but other than that, it runs super fast

Cons:takes a 1gb to run vista smoothly, takes up a large amount of space on your hard drive,

Pros:directx 10being able to use more then 3 gb ram
Comment:
when trying to install vista it was a pain in the butt but i think it was cause of my hardware, you need to have sp1 to make sure you can run 4 gb or more correctly. I have not had any major problems with vista,

Cons:lack of 64bit programs

Pros:64bit Service Pack 1
Comment:
Been using this for a week now and after disabling a lot of the stupid user account control pop ups it is A whole lot better. Somewhat annoyed that zone alarm doesn't have a 64bit firewall. Everything that I do have seems to work fine. I gues SP1 fixed most of the bugs.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:- some older peripherals wont be compatible- haven't had any big problems yet

Pros:- supports 4gb ram or more- nice new features- set for many more years
Comment:
I heard many people had problems with vista 64, for me, there were no problems and vista 64 is running very stable. I could use most of my old peripherals and video games. I am glad that I chose 64 bit instead of 32 bit version because it supports all of my 4 gb ram and if I wanted to upgrade the ram in the future, I would have no problem. I also like the new features added in vista compared to xp. The gadgets you can add to your desktop are cool and useful such as ticking clock, weather forecast, calender, cpu/ram usage and news feed.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:-older hardware is sometimes not supported-User account control can be a pain

Pros:-SP1 makes it very stable-DX10 for games-new look
Comment:
I am glad I waited for MS to finish it's beta test with Vista. For me the OS is solid. My new hardware works without issues. The new interface is nice, XP was starting to look a little tired. And I haven't had a hard time finding the things I need, most programs are in a logical spot. For certain though make sure before hand that you can get drivers for all your hardware. Also do a search on how to disable User Account Control. It's a pain to use... just know what software you are allowing to run on your computer.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:I'm biased

Pros:Fast install, no floppy required(A+++ here and about time)
Comment:
So in order to get DX10 I had to switch to Vista, was happy with XP, and had negative feelings towards vista from experience with other people's computers. However after using Vista, it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, and very comparable stability wise to XP or even better. Only downside had to replace my scanner. No vista drivers(bad HP)

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:compatibility issues with old hardwarewireless issues

Pros:quick installfast, smooth operation
Comment:
Overall, I like this OS. As long as you have new hardware, you'll be fine. Software compatibility hasn't been an issue yet, but hardware has. No drivers available for my old scanner, and you'll have to be careful about getting a wireless adapter if that's what you need. Many mainstream companies like Linksys don't appear to have a single 64-bit compatible usb adapter. Otherwise, this was the fastest Windows install I've ever had. Very smooth and quick operation. I like certain Vista programs, esp. the new Windows Movie Maker. So, if you have a new computer, go for it!

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:Nothing worth noting yet.

Pros:Fast, Stable, very clean looking interface
Comment:
I actually received the SP1 version of this os which was a very cool bonus. I had no issues clean installing with 4gb of ram. Vista formatted my 500gb WD in about 15 seconds, there is no option for a deeper format. You also get a 64bit and a 32bit version of IE7 in case you are at you-tube or similar as flash won't play on a 64bit browser. My chipset and graphics software are working very well. I think Vista makes XP look old, and after using it for so many years Vista is just such a nice change. It's just so fast. Direct X10 shouldn't be overlooked either. I have already been running some programs, all seems well so far. This is by far my favorite operating system and I have pretty much used them all. I highly recommend the change.evga 680i mbintel q66004gb pc6400 ocz platinumevga 9800 gx2tagan bz1100 psusamsung 2493hm

Pros:Expanded memory 4 plusnice face lifebetter security
Comment:
In all I am having good luck so far (knock on wood).some of the down sides are not too many old hard ware works well the 64 bit. But that's a good excuse to upgrade more things on your computer. When buying the 64 bit version I knew a few things would need to be upgraded. Plus as time goes on this OS will get better like XP did.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:A lil glitchy off the bat.

Pros:Its simply Xp with 64bits and some extras.
Comment:
I haven't really had any issues with it. Since I don't have internet except on my wireless I haven't upgraded it yet. But it is seeming fine with the exception of some 32bit stuff I have added to keep me busy til DSL kicks in. I spent a few nights looking through it all to tweak performance and simplify it. Not hard as it is just as simple as XP to me. 64bit is future, may as well get into it now.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:Does not support my Audigy 2ZS

Pros:Runs smoothNice Appearance
Comment:
This is my first time with Vista, and I had no clue what to expect. My only apparent compatibility issue is the Audigy 2 ZS sound card apparently is not compatible. And, since installing Vista, I cannot get my Adobe programs working, invalid serial errors, which I never encountered before.Overall, I've been able to figure out most features of Vista that I would need access to, and the changes from Windows XP Professional are mostly subtle. It's mostly self-explanatory, but I can see some things are going to need just a bit of research.

Pros:easy to installcomes with SP1no bugsfasthigher ram capacity
Comment:
I've been using this OS for about a week now, and it seems to be a solid OS, but i don't know if i would say its better than XP. but i haven't ran into any problems yet. it recognizes all 4g of ram which makes me happy. the only thing i don't like is that i have to learn a new lay out of windows again, but no biggy. I'm really hoping this OS will work out for me. i would recommend to anyone looking for a cheap 64bit OS

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:Slower performance in some things.

Pros:64-bit, nice features, stable (for me anyway)
Comment:
I've been using Vista for quite a while, and I haven't really had any problems with it stability wise or really any problems worth mentioning. I went with this edition since I already have Ultimate on my main rig and I don't need the extra features, compared to XP especially in games some things do run slower but it's not really noticeable in my machines luckily. One main reason was to use more than 4GB of memory.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:-Very few nit picky things

Pros:-Everything works fine-No driver issues-Looks great
Comment:
No problems at all, supports my 4GB of RAM, all my old 32bit applications work fine on this, havent found an application that isn't supported by it. A lot of ill informed people complain about RAM hogging but really what it is doing is taking the unused RAM and using it to run faster, and when the RAM is needed by something else it gives it away. which is primarily what DX 10 does in a 3D application (supporting DX10)

Cons:Not for the timid

Pros:FastSecureLooksFeatures
Comment:
I'm probably the perfect candidate for Vista 64 bit. All of my hardware and software is relatively current.I was held back by XP Pro in that it would not fully utilize my memory.Timid users may be confused and annoyed by the constant warnings Vista gives for running programs. After years of working with XP I actually like being warned whenever something is trying to run. I'd rather be warned than not know that something is going on without my knowledge.Besides that it has been fast (4GB Ram, E6600 at default), looks nice (Aero), and some neat features like the 3d windows selection and toolbar windows previews. I can also run Age of Conan without memory problems. For the current price would i recommend it? Ya i would if you have the hardware to support it.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:-No 16 bit

Pros:+Fast(honestly)+Stable (with the exception to a few Nvidia issues)+Higher ram capacity+32/64 bit apps work well together.
Comment:
Figured it was time to give Vista a try and so far so good. There where a few issues with some games(8800GTX). They all went a way when i tried my X1900XT card. Running the GTX 2XX drivers INF modded seems to have fixed almost all problems. Other then that 32 bit and 64 bit apps work well together and once you get used to the new interface its actually quite productive. Superfetch works well too if you have lots of ram.16-bit apps no longer work on Vista 64. Most users should not have any more of those apps anyway, but some older games that are 32 bit still have a 16 bit installer. some times they are just compressed and can be extracted with WinRAR.DX 10 is still a work in progress. some games use it well, others do not.I personally had more problems 98->xp then xp->vista

Cons:Direct X 10 is a mess at the moment.

Pros:Looks great, driver support is good, all the little extras add up to a nice package.
Comment:
Vista is XP with a face lift. If building a new sytem I'd go with Vista 64 for sure, but if your just looking at upgrading from XP, I wouldn't bother.Direct X, while it looks great if you can get it to work, has a ton of issues right now, but sure to be fixed up in the future. Pros:driver support is fantastic compared to how it was at first release, more options to run 32 bit or 64 bit apps
Comment:
64bit windows really should be the only version sold, it is much more secure allows far greater amounts of memory and finally is getting very good driver support from all companies. really should be your first choice

Cons:If you change your motherboard you are kind of sol.

Pros:Nice price point if you won't change motherboard and don't want an illegal copy.
Comment:
I haven't had the issues with Vista that others have had, and wanted a 64 bit OS. XP 64 has issues, so I went with this. Kind of sucks that you can't carry it between motherboards, but if your mobo breaks, they will give you a new key.
