Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders
Cons:Stupid authorized security feature UAC, endless irritating questions, update reminders, etc - needs to all be disabled right from the beginning.
Pros:Great OS, fast, stable. Not nearly as bad as everyone says it is. Haven't run into any major incompatibility issues for drivers or software. |

I'm please with this, the 64bit version works well, and I've had 0 OS related issues. Install seemed to stall for a good 10 minutes but it picked up again. Only major problem is that there isn't a single wireless adapter has manufacturer drivers for vista 64 that I've been able to find. (MS supplied wmp54g v4.1 drivers cause occasional BSODS) Suggest an ethernet bridge like linksys wet54g. This review was modfied by poster @ 06-20-08 07:23 AM |
Nothing new with Microsoft, it is bloated with too much useless stuff as usual. Takes patience to 'fine tune' the OS by turning off tons of junk, but you will find there is a stable 64bit OS underneath. I just do not look forward to having to do it all over again if I need to do a reformat in the future. I never allow it to do OS updates/patches it can really screw things up. I only will do a SP update once it has been out for a long time. And security is left to a third party firewall, router, anti-virus software and not the OS, with the one exception of its on board firewall.XP is history for me.
