great buy
Comment:
feature rich device that can be complicated for the same reason. no documentation included so you have to go online to get it. cable and wireless are much faster then previous wireless g router. mine was missing the support stand so it doesn't stand well.

Exceptional Deal
Comment:
I replaced an older netgear router because we needed the speed and wanted to elimate the hard cable connection to our other networked PC. Extremely fast wireless connection to our PC using the netgear WN311T PCI card adaptor and as a bonus the connections to our other 2 wifi laptops with standard 54mbps cards are faster as well. No problems with set-up. Only in use for 3 weeks, so far so good. Even if this router has reliabily issues as some indicated after a year it's still worth it. But don't expect to get the plastic base stand. I sent back first router because it was missing upon arrival, only to find the base missing from the replacement router as well. With other reviews saying the same, don't expect the base. I figure for the money I can get by without it, and don't want the hassle of sending back a perfectly functional router just for a base.

Fast - But Poor Compatability and Support
Comment:
misspelling below are to make the filter happy. i purchased 1 of these recert for $34 2 months ago. figured, even with no DD-W R T for it (not Broad com based) gig switch and 300Mb justified it (150Mb default, have to set it if you want 300Mb). i will say that aside from the quirks, the overall bandwidth seems great. it won't D H C P correctly from my cable modem. so i put a link sis router between them. free support from net gear is email only, stinks, and if they find anything wrong only choice is to return it to the selling vendor. it works fine with d s l. also some wireless cards lose connection at random. a dd-w r t client bridge is able to connect flawlessly, though. regardless, currently using it and find the performance and stability to be great aside from the quirks. hoping for a firmware that resolves all the quirks. until then will be last net gear product i buy. would rather have paid the $29 it is now.

This is a great router for the money. I sat it up fast, no cd needed with windows XP and up. It is in my basement where I have 2 wired desktops and a network printer. It reaches wirelessly up one floor to a desktop and a WII. I am only getting 135 out of my 300 wireless card, but the old card was only 54 so it is still a step up. Not sure why it doesn't run at 300. The signal is strong. Probably something I need to do. The 300 card was cheap and not a Netgear.

CD??
Comment:
This is a very good router for the money. I was reading one of the reviews and they said something about a cd. I have set up I dont now how many routers and never used a cd yet. if they would of read the directions they could of typed 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 they set up the router that way.

Good Router, great price
Comment:
Setup was very easy, I also was missing the stand (not in box). So far no drops...something that was happening daily with my old Linksys router. Seems to be somewhat faster as well.

Great Router
Comment:
This is the second router purchased. It works good but I had to reorder the router twice because the parts wern't in the box. The second order didn't have the stand. I needed it right away so I am using it without the stand. The products I usually get have no problem and this is the first problem I have had. I could have sent it back again but I needed it so I am using it the way it is.

Cheap great wireless router

Hooked it up and updated the firmware, and it worked great from there on. Easy to setup, and great range. At least 120 feet and still a good signal.

Not bad for the price
Comment:
Bought this a week ago even with many negative reviews on the net. Wanted a N router with gigabit for under $50. Tough to find, most were at the $100 range. And even those had a few negative reviews. Thought this might be a bad purchase when I opened it up and it was missing the stand. Tested it anyways by upgrading the firmware and going through the setup. Shortly after my router successfully updated and I was back on the net. Checked my laptop that was one floor up and that connected no problem. Was able to surf and stream music at the same time with no dropped signals. Tested my wifi pda in the bedroom 2 floors up from the router. Again no problem surfing. Tested the gigabit ports and was happy to see my files on the other computer appearing quickly and easily. All in all, I think this is a great router...for now. Heard after 6 months many of these routers die so we'll see if this will last. But for now, solid purchase at this price point.

Worked great right out of the box
Comment:
My last router was a ZyXEL and my laptop wouldn't find it when it was within a couple feet of it. Most of the time I connected to my neighbor with more strength than my own router. This router was great right out of the box and my VPN connection stays up all day long instead of loosing it several times throughout the day.

Works Great IF It Works At All
Comment:
I have purchased three of these- all recertified. The first two provided outstanding performance out of the box. The third was dead on arrival and didn't come with with the stand the other two had to prevent falling over. But, the working ones have offered outstanding range and speed and represent a terrific value at the recertified price.

Great deal on a good reliable router.
Comment:
I received this router and it worked perfectly right out of the box. I have been dealing with Netgear equipment for many years now and have always been pleased with their features and performance. I run a home-based IT business and I also run the entire IT/IS operations at a mining company with three mine sites. I use Netgear equipment almost exclusively and our networks run flawlessly fast and have had no downtime at all due to equipment failures.

Netgear WNR854T Wireless N Router - 300Mbps, 802.11n, 4-Port, RangeMax
Comment:
Purchased router and had to return after less than one week. Router became totally unresponsive with just the power light orange, which I have read is a very common issue and has been nicknamed 'orange light of death' Wish more reviews had been posted before I bought this, I would not recommend it. Replacement router drops 10/100 connection when transfering files/downloading but has no problem with the 1000 mb connection. LOVE the 1000 mb wired and N wireless, but wouldn't recommend this router for the job. I really wish I could exchange it for better.

This item seemed like a good deal when I bought it. I find now I am recycling the power every day or two when I notice the wifi stops working. Range is no better than my old Wireless G. This one will be going in the garbage soon.

Netgear WNR854T Wireless N Router - 300Mbps, 802.11n, 4-Port, RangeMax
Comment:
STAY AWAY! I bought this router in December and after a month and a half, the router began dropping connections until it finaly stopped working all together. With no serial number (refurbished), getting Netgear support is almost impossible. I have read similar problems with this router around the internet. Not a reliable product.

Netgear WNR854T Wireless N Router - 300Mbps, 802.11n, 4-Port, RangeMax
Comment:
I bought 2 of these around christmas for 2 family members. First off i got 2 different models. Both of them were plugged in and both were sluggish and disconnected constantly. I looked at them and found the fireware was many versions behind and the default settings werent great. After upgrading, tweaking the settings, both have worked perfectly. They are well worth the price if you take the time to set them up correctly.

Netgear WNR854T Wireless N Router - 300Mbps, 802.11n, 4-Port, RangeMax
Comment:
Bought mine on Dec 05, 2008. Didn't connect it up until after Christmas. Once or twice a day it just drops everyone off wireless and wired. Upgraded the firmware to the latest with no change. The one I purchased doesn't have a serial number sticker on it so I can't register it with Netgear and without that there doesn't seem to be a free way to contact them and find out if it is something that I might have set up incorrectly. Since this is the dozenth router I've set up, I have a hard time believing it's me. Going to ship this back or burn it as I'm driving out tonight to pick up a replacement LinkSys one. Don't even care which model. I've purchased Netgear switches for quite a while and have never had trouble with them but I really can't deal with this level of customer support.

Comment:
Bought this to connect up my new wireless printer and start my houses wireless networking. Just slipped in between the DSL modem and the rest of the network and then run though the setup pages. (Yes you will get annoyed by saving 2 parameter changes and waiting a minute to change some on another page!) No problem with the G level networking, but I have no N devices, can't comment on that. Considered buying another just to use as a 4port switch without the wireless turned on.
