Super rapidly drive, excellent speeds and storage for the price tag. Super tricky to get operating with Mac OS 10.6.four. I tried to get help from OCz, it was fairly a lot like running in a circle. All they could say was "have you tried it in a Computer?" Even although the mac logo is on the back of the box. Here's my video of the installation.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXlFdp2Xo60 Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you have had issues. We watched your videos and it appears that your troubles are largely with your version of OSX. Your end result appears to be fairly fantastic, and we aplogize that our help staff were not better able to help you with your struggle. Thank youExternal Link(s): OCZ Support Forums|

Quick when operating; silent Brief life span; ridiculous firmware upgrade procedure when running as major drive (must set up Linux on a bootable device and flash from there - unacceptable "solution"). Operating as key (OS) drive - Win7. Ran excellent for about 3 months then random blue screen. Following that, each time I started out up, would lock up on Windows login screen and blue screen. On reboots MB would not detect drive until total power down. Wiped drive, re-installed windows 7, now obtaining random blue screens when installing new applications. Cannot feel a drive that is only three months old is failing like this, specially for the cost. I have dirt-inexpensive standard drives that have lasted for years. Has turned me off of the entire SSD experiment. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are quite sorry for the difficulties. Rapid My 240GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD failed inside an hour of use! My new OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE240G two.5" 240GB SSD failed inside an hour of use. The SSD was installed in a brand new Dell E4310 ƘGB RAM, i5-540 CPU). I was able to set up Windows 7 64 bit, Microsoft Office 2007. On the other hand, following loading Office 2007's on-line updates, the program did not recognize the SSD any longer. The BIOS also did not detect the SSD properly. I tested the SSD in a USB dock, and confirmed that the SSD was not readable. As a result, I concluded that the SSD had failed. Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are quite sorry for the dilemma. The USB dock could not be functional with SSD drive (not all are), so this might not be a very good test. I does sound as even though your drive has developed and situation. Please RMA with Newegg for a replacement drive, and you will be operating fine. received the drive promptly from Newegg. Days 1 by four drive ran really quickly 7.7 below Windows Disk Transfer rate. Every thing seemed "fine". Died on Day 4. Solid State drives should be the most trustworthy. I just don't get it. Chips retailer information. No moving parts. Evidently really poor quality manage. What's the good of obtaining a quickly drive if it dies following four days. This drive is expensive. Now I have to go via the aggravation of returning. With zero moving components, (no platters, and so forth) drives need to last longer than any current tricky drive. Is it this brand? I DO NOT Recommend for mission essential. applications. Bought this drive for a Macbook Pro Mid 2010, core i7. Installed OSX on it along with time machining more than my profile. And it works like a charm. No issues at all. Quickly boot up and shut down. Each plan opens virtually immediately. A lot much better than typical HDD. A tiny slow to go to sleep. Nonetheless that could be due to the large quantity of ram I have Ƙgigs) not confident, but that could be writing to the HDD. If that isnt the issue the pros out weigh the cons. None.

Pros? Seriously, I can't feel of a single one...OCZ... I hope you're listening. SERIOUSLY!My suggestions? Read on, and in the meantime, DO NOT waste your funds on these drives. Their published write speeds are quicker on some "benchmark," but right after obtaining researched the OCZ forums, I'm locating Numerous others who have had related failure experiences as I have. You can't flash the F/W with RST v10+, you can't use their OCZ toolbox with Win7, the list goes on and on... Cons?? I spent over ŭ,500.00 on the fastest laptop income can obtain, (yes, a S*-NP7280) and against the retailer's advice NOT to acquire an OCZ SSD to fuel it, I did it anyhow... and how SORRY I am.The laptop manufacturer recommended I put I*tel SSD's "inside", but NO, I had to have the worlds fastest SSD to feed the planet's fastest laptop. Possessing read SOOO considerably about these latest Sandforce controllers, and seeing OCZ's published read/write speeds, I went against the seller's guidance and purchased TWO of these "Ultimate PAPERWEIGHTS" -- a 120GB for the OS, a 240GB for data drive two, and a Seagate Momentus XT 500Gb for drive š.Bottom line ş: The 120gb crashed 4 distinct occasions in 2 wks. (Windoze 7 x64, newest Intel chipset drivers, w/ RST in AHCI mode), causing Complete OS re-installs, with subsequent phone calls to M/S for however a different reactivation. In desperation, I ordered and had shipped overnight (Thank you to the EGG for such eggcellent service) an Intel X25-M 120 SSD to replace it, and 1 month later, it hasn't even taken a LICKING, yet still keeps on ticking with no a single difficulty. (forgive me for the bad pun..) Bottom Line Š: On the 4th OS install, following 200+ gb worth of FSX terrain information, the 240gb SSD suddenly forget all the data on the drive. Yep, restarted the laptop and it was Fully EMPTY -- No joke! THIS drive wouldn't remember Anything after you shut the personal computer off. I've Never ever seen anything like it in practically 30 years of making computers. A week following Newegg RMA'd THIS drive, it now As well has failed. The bios won't even recognize it. Puff... Vanished. Dead!BTW, the X25-M and Momentus XT drives are still working flawlessly... Yes, I DO know what I'm performing, and I spent hundreds of hours researching the care and feeding of SSD's, and 2 months later, my Ů,000.00 laptop is waiting the shipment of one more Intel SSD. I will RMA the 240 a second time, and I guess I'm stuck with the 120, as it's past 30 da Manufacturer Response:Hello, we want each customer to be pleased with their acquire, and will be content to assist you. Speed and capacity, great combination - when it operates. I have now had two of these drives fail on me devoid of warning. Incredibly frustrating to have your primary OS partition fail, and no way to obtain any of the information on it. Fortunately I have some great backups from between drive 1 and drive 2, but this is just silly. Either make a larger high quality drive that does not fail, or come across a way to get at the information that's on the failed drive.

Speeds are as advertised, straightforward set up when you know what you are doing. When you plug this in for very first time use, and your installing a fresh copy of Windows on it, BIOS will see it, but the drive will not show, in Disk Management, the drive shows up, and the File Method is RAW, you will need to format the SSD to NTFS, and make certain you set the drive in the BIOS for AHCI not IDE, then your drive must show up and the install really should go smoothe. wish ppl wouldn't give this drive such bad critiques, cuz there lack of knowledge. I come to newegg, and I read by means of A LOT of reviews on goods and they do affect my overall choice when I make some of my purchases, and pretty much 90% of the SSD evaluations are ppl bad mouthing these drives cuz they dont know what they are doing..

Fast The SSD failed inside 1 hour. I ordered a Dell Latitude E4310, 8GB RAM, Core i5, 250GB HD two weeks ago; final week I ordered this OCZ Vertex 2 240GB. Each new laptop and SSD arrived on exact same day. Immediately after I received my laptop and the SSD, I imediately replaced the built-in HD with the OCZ Vertex 2 240GB and installed Windows 7 Enterprise Version. The OS installation went smoothly. The Dell drivers for network, wifi, etc., went OK as properly. Then I updated Windows and installed MS Office 2007; both went OK. Following finishing MS office 2007 installation, it recommended an online update, which I followed. The the update system restarted the Windows, even so, the BIOS couldn't recognize the SSD at this stage, technique hang with an error message: can not locate a bootable device. I took the SSD out and place in a usb HD dock and tried to connect my 3 computer systems; none of my 3 computer system is in a position recognize the SSD. I believe my new ssd is a defect product. The tech for the future. Rapidly and noiseless. Primary Partitioned effortlessly and Windows 7 installed on one particular of the partitions that I produced active. Surely in some machine in a great place this SSD will operate wonderful, that's why the 3 eggs. Two boots later, Windows 7 failed to load and the boot method gave error of "BOOTMGR is missing" which might be a Microsoft Windows issue, but I don't know. Vague facts on the Web concerning this error. Nearly sounds like the 1st "track" was corrupted, whatever that equates to in SSD planet. I wiped the partition with swift format, deleted the partition and attempted again. This time Windows 7 would not install properly. I tried one particular far more time and got the identical error as on initial attempt immediately after install of OS. Funky! I assume I was careful, I applied a ground strap and handled the device with care and had ALL power off and took out the CMOS battery and let it sit for a long time with no charges prior to device installation. But I wanted it...;so I opted for the RevoDrive X2, which is supposed to be more quickly and I KNOW it will play good with my mobo EVGA X58 Classified three. I will take my ever loving sweet time and get this accomplished. I strategy on using the Revo as boot device with two primaries; one for Win 7 and one for Ubuntu. And I have two other significant HDD for information and Windows will have to be tweaked to get that accomplished, don't you know.P.S. RMA was painless, even although I didn't want to do it. Purchased this a couple of months ago, look for my original assessment with my username right here "Delweine" Drive nevertheless operates the exact same as it did the day.. Very same blazing reads and writes The only genuine con is you can\'t update the firmware although utilizing Intel's RST driver 10 and above. For me, no large deal. I have a hybrid Seagate 500 gig in my other laptop bay with Windows 7 installed there with Microsoft IDE driver, so I can boot into that drive and upgrade my OCZ from there! Right here is a quote from a single user in this feedback chain;"Cons: SandForce Memory controller DOES NOT Assistance Power State 3 or Power State four. Power State 3 is Sleep Mode and Power State four is Hibernation Mode. If these modes are utilized the SSD will hiccup and blue screen crash. A lot of instances upon reboot the program will blue screen 5 or 6 times before the SSD gets back on track and loads the OS." I have no sleep/hibernate concerns at all, so I do not know what the heck this individual is talking about!! I use Hibernate mode all the time with Windows 7, and once more, no complications, no blue screens at all. Perhaps this individual is not making use of Intel's RST 10 and above? Intel's RST fully supports Trim command... Keep in mind, prior to you install this drive, READ Just about every SSD TWEAK AND PRIMER guide, so you know how to complete and properlty implement this technology!

rapidly, reliable, trim support --ease of electronic backup pricey, you can purchase 3 x-25m 80 g drives and put them in a raid array --and get twice the read speed and the same write speed. But you can not do simple backups with this. I replaced three 80 g x-25ms in raid with this and don't really really feel a hit. appears like the boots go more rapidly even. But the ease of backup is why i produced the alter. I was reassured by the 1 million MTBF but my CFLs aren't lasting 7 years either, so I believe in backing up.

Quickly and stable... when working with the right Intel chipset drivers. If you are getting performance problems (sub-par 4K writes) OCZ recommends turning off C1E and other CPU attributes which really should be left on. These recommendations are ridiculous. I could not use the Intel 10 series RST drivers, which for me result in Windows 7 not to boot. I also could not use the 9 series Intel INF drivers since these will cause a BSOD when resuming from sleep. My remedy: use the latest Intel INF update for your chipset. These are not the RST drivers. OCZ support is poor. Recommending that users turn off CPU functions to achieve maximum efficiency is ridiculous. How about a FW update that really fixes the poor 4K write performance when C1E is getting utilized? Manufacturer Response:Hello, we are sorry that you have had driver concerns. SSD drives are becoming well established, though as with any technology, correct support ought to come from the chipset and motherboard manufacturers, as well as the drive manufacturer. We continue to develop new firmware and present help for our buyers. Our help staff could advocate temporary fixes for customer issues. Our shoppers can select to implement them or not. Last summer, I purchased an OCZ Summit 256Gb drive. At that time, it looked as if it was the finest resolution available. It had a Samsung controller and came with the greatest performance specifications. On the internet tests have considering that showed that the drive would get slower more promptly than other drives and at the time, it was not recognized if the firmware could get updated. Now, a year later, I have contacted OCZ to get the drive firmware updated to the most recent version, given that the drive had decreased in speed mainly because of lack of TRIM assistance in Mac OSX. OCZ set up a RMA and I shipped back the drive. The similar day they received my drive, they supplied me with the tracking information for a new drive that was shipped from Taiwan. The new drive was the newest version Vertex2 240Gb. It’s very quick and when again, I’m a really content camper. Essential a lot more space in pros:The reason I’m writing this evaluation is due to the fact of the exceptionally excellent consumer service and friendliness I’ve received from OCZ. This is the single ideal manufacturer encounter that I’ve encountered in years and my next SSD buy is going to be from OCZ - for sure. PS. The Summit drive always performed to my satisfaction. The snappiness of the drive and the speed when launching applications by no means felt like it was decreasing more than time. It was when operating X-Bench that the numbers looked like they had been obtaining slower, but the drive often showed a lot of that SSD-expertise you anticipate from these drives.Results⑾.72 System Information Xbench Version [.3 System Version Ύ.6.4 ྪF569) Physical RAM 𖾐 MB Model MacBookPro5,2 Drive Type OCZ-VERTEX2 Disk Test⑾.72 Sequential⏶.34 Uncached Write␣.24⏂.26 MB/sec ΒK blocks] Uncached Write⑈.32⏋.13 MB/sec 𖑸K blocks] Uncached Read⎐.95΢.71 MB/sec ΒK blocks] Uncached ReadⓇ.23⏸.69 MB/sec 𖑸K blocks] Random𖎂.84 Uncached Write𖓄.18⎵.03 MB/sec ΒK blocks] Uncached Write┥.79⏋.20 MB/sec 𖑸K blocks] Uncached Read𖰰.74Κ.91 MB/sec ΒK blocks] Uncached Read𖎼.91⏮.34 MB/sec 𖑸K blocks]
