OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE240G SSD 240GB 2.5" internal
Cons:none

Pros:fast, compatible, low power, relatively low cost
Comment:
This is a relatively high capacity SSD which can be used as a primary OS and application drive. It would also make for a great laptop drive, as it uses less power than a rotating HD.

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE240G SSD 240GB 2.5" internal
Cons:None with my computer. SandForce still have compatibility issues with some computers.

Pros:Good size, got it for 300$, good deal when you see the 120GB Vertex 3 at 300$.
Comment:
It's my fifth SSD. It did cost less than my first (OCZ Core V1, yes, the one that stutters).I bought it to use it as temporary storage. Access time is low so it's really an advantage when you search for a file or do any manipulation with big files. I'm experienced in SSD and this was a no surprise purchase.I really suggest you to buy it if you are looking for a SSD at this capacity. The price point makes it an inevitable choice. If you have issues, don't forget to visit OCZ forum. If the SSD really don't like your computer, then it's too bad, you'll have to find another SSD that is not using SandForce controller.Oh and about the rating, please consider that every SF1xxx SSD is equivalent. No capacity is better or worse in term of reliability. The smaller capacities do suffer from lower performance because of using 64Gbit die chips.Edit:You can replace Carole_B by kensiko, it was a temporary name used for another purchase. OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE240G SSD 240GB 2.5" internal
Cons:Expensive. Not as fast as the hype led me to believe. Slow 4K reads (16MB/sec).

Pros:Faster 'disk' access. Good amount of space for apps and docs. "Free" data compression, fast 4K writes.
Comment:
To be frank, my rig is for 3D renders, so it's not exactly slow to begin with. 4 cores, 4Ghz, 16GB ram, 1TB seagate HD, etc. I found that the SSD speeds were below my expectations. I expected lightspeed. What I got was approx 2-3x faster speeds. It turns out most tasks aren't really disk-bound after all.EG: Maya 2011 still takes a while to launch.Photoshop CS5 wa salready launching superfast with a harddisk. So my life remains unchanged. Software installs are noticeably faster though, thank god. Also, data compression 'for free' is nice. It means my SSD actually holds more than the specs state!

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE240G SSD 240GB 2.5" internal
Cons: can be a bit flaky working with enterprise HBA adapters

Pros: cheaper than enterprise offerings from STEC, PLIANT
Comment:
purchased 100 of these and put them in multiple SuperMicro 2.5" chasis. Connected via SAS to our HBA. we benchmarked using FIO with libaio on 200GB random seek file created by FIO. With 4 of these on on RAID0 FIO reports 48,383 4k seek on 200GB file. Our HBA is 9750-8e. Under real work load with hundred gigabytes of index to search they seem much slower than simple FIO tests.

Cons: The Sandforce controller is great because it compresses data before writing, which helps with the performance. But I am therefore unwilling to turn on filesystem encryption under OS X since encrypted data is usually not very compressible, which would negate part of the speed of the controller.

Pros: Crazy fast. Turned a 4-year old Macbook Pro from an old horse ready to be taken out to pasture into a fast, fast machine that feels like it's new.
Comment:
Love this little SSD. The 240 GB size is a little bit tight for my liking, forcing me to dump some music and picture libraries onto an external drive on the server, but is otherwise manageable. I was contemplating buying a new Macbook Pro to replace a 4 year old MBP (version 2,2), but with this SSD I don't feel like I need to. It's like this machine is new.No hiccups in installing the OCZ Vertex 2 on my machine. (Unlike when I tried to install the first generation OCZ Vertex (Indilinx controller), which choked and died after about 3 hours in the machine.) Running 2 months now without any problems sofar.Would definitely buy again. Am gobsmacked though by the price differential between the 240gb ($400) and the 480 gb ($1800) models.

Cons: Other than the price of this SSD (like any other ssd the price will be high for awhile)

Pros: Speed, 1000000 hour rating, long warranty 6 dollar shipping
Comment:
Not much to say other than its fast reliable and able to boot win 7 ult on 12 gb of 2000mhz (oc'd to 2056) in about 8 seconds. IM LOVING IT

OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE240G SSD 240GB 2.5" internal
Cons: Pricey for the amount of storage

Pros: Fast reads and writes 260+ for bothstays cool as a cucumberDoes not make a soundEasy firmware update-able
Comment:
I recently bought this drive to edit HD video (blu-ray) for its obvious speed advantages. This is my second Vertex, I have the original Vertex in my system as well which I've had for over a year with no problems at all. I was thinking about getting the Crucial C300 240 gb. which has shown to has better reads in synthetic benchmark testing but in actual application tests they are about the same and the Crucial C300 is said to slow down when the drive is starting to fill up. These drives by the way can be firmware updated in Windows by OCZ neat little firmware application tool...nice. Firmware updating is said to be much harder with CrucialC300 drives.SDD drive pricing will eventually fall as the market getsoverwhelmed and competitiveness between manufactures continues. OCZ Vertex2 and Crucial C300 are the two that are competing for speed and price and both are worth considering. The easy way OCZ has made these Vertex2 drives to be firmware updated and the fact that OCZ drives are $100.00 cheaper, resulted in making my decision to go with OCZ once again.
