Patriot Xporter Magnum 64GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable)
Comment:
More rapidly than most flash drives, even though it hardly ever achieves the advertised speeds. This seems to vary by laptop or computer although, so not the drive's fault.Lots of space: amongst other factors I use it to retailer multiple substantial games, as properly as my 12+ GB music collection.Includes short extension cable to counter it's big physical size. Just now I attempted to take the cap off, and *pop* the complete factor came apart; the plastic part around the plug came away from the metal housing. It all went back collectively nicely, and it nonetheless works fine, but if that had happened in my pocket things may not have turned out so properly..... It was exciting to see the inside of it.It nonetheless performs, and I use it every single day, in truth I hardly ever go anywhere without it, so I feel I will just glue the pieces back with each other myself, as an alternative of bothering with a RMA.Formatting the substantial size drive gave me a little trouble, given that FAT32 only supports files up to 4GB, and exFAT isn't widely supported but. I eventually settled on FAT32, given that I usually use public computer systems like at a library or lab, and they do not help exFAT.

Great looking enclosure, quickly transfer, lots of space, I loves me some patriot goods. I expect to lose the cap any day now, a retaining cord or a thing would have been cool. Certainly has to be formatted ntfs, operates like a dream with truecrypt, I strategy on drilling a small hole for a smaller cable so the cap doesn't disappear. Was introduced to patriot rep at a Lan game out right here in PDX and simply because of her friendly nature and answering all my queries, i switched to patriot and haven't looked back. Fantastic client service.

this thing is Major. capacity-wise and physical dimension-wise. I purchased this to use for storage on my pogoplug and it has worked out good so far, plug it in and forget it. The case on this thing is the most heavy duty I have ever seen on a flash drive and I was worried it may not fit behind the pogo. No issues. its major and heavy duty? thats not truly a con for me, but for some it may possibly be. massive and heavy duty comes with a value i guess. if you require high capacity and heavy duty with some critical girth, this is a very good one to pick.

Storage Capacity. Price tag point. Speed seems acceptable. Chubby. Not weather/water resistant. I got this as my initially 64 GB drive. I knew it was going to be a bit fat and block space but I preserve a tiny extension handy to take care of this. Seems quick enough for now. Nevertheless waiting for an individual to put out a 128 GB version... Manufacturer Response:Dear Ududidj I'm satisfied to announce that we have a 128GB version now. A lot of space. This truly aids negate the need for an external backup drive, if 64GB will meet your needs. I take this factor around everywhere I go, and have images of my difficult drive and installable software program prepared-to-go for consumers or when traveling. Some ppl have complained about speed, & whilst not as rapidly as a challenging drive, it's rapid enough to get the job performed without the added bulk of a large external big. The price tag. And it looks like it's gone up because I bought it! It does have a small faint red led/flashing light to show activity. I discover some ppl mentioned it did not. It wasn't a deal breaker for me, nor was its size (which is only about 2x the size of your common usb thumb/flash drive).

Patriot Xporter Magnum 64GB Flash Drive (USB2.0 Portable)
Comment:
Higher capacity, quick, properly constructed, limited lifetime warranty Virtually twice the width of a slim usb drive. As of this writing, there are now slim higher-speed, high-capacity drives on the industry (though substantially far more pricey). I've owned quite a few usb flash drives more than the previous couple of years, and use them each day. This drive is amongst the fastest drives I've owned, has huge capacity, and has held up perfectly under difficult, every day use for 7 months. I carry it in my pocket in between work and home and the cap still stays on either finish.People today have complained about the sturdiness (mostly soon after abusing the drive) and losing the cap, but the drive has a lifetime warranty! They moan about it's width, but at the time this drive reached the marketplace, all higher speed 64GB drives had the wide form factor, while the narrower ones were reduced-speed (and generally a lot more high priced with flimsy plastic cases). This is a single of the greatest quickly, high capacity drives you can buy.

This is an remarkable small storage device. I function in the IT department and we joke about putting our entire information mart on my flash drive. It's rapid, I put all of my documents on it and I back up my laptop with it. I'm really satisfied. As a lot of other reviewers have stated, the cap is quite loose. This is the only reason I gave it four eggs as an alternative of 5. Please make the cap tighter fitting for future releases. I want yet another 1 but I'm waiting to see if the cap issue gets resolved. Wonderful product. Manufacturer Response:Dear ALI I'm sorry for the issues you are having with your cap. this drive does what it says and works properly. it's quick adequate so as not to be frustrating to use, provided its capacity. its greater capacity -- for now at least -- means it's going to be a tiny larger, physically. ahead of you order this, read the product specifications. it's amazing to me that someone wouldn't bother to read the product specs and then complain about "surprises" -- clearly stated in the specs. if you describe your tech level as "somewhat higher" and then have the audacity to be annoyed by how your 64GB drive is only 59GBs... you do not, indeed, have a tech level that is "somewhat higher". please return to your gerbil wheel and roll elsewhere. the concern of drive space and storage overhead has been beaten to death in these (as well as other) testimonials.

Quick, high capacity usb drive. It operates incredibly effectively as advertised. Fast rebate turnaround.Minimal inconvenience by each Newegg and Patriot. (See other thoughts)Thank you both. A 'con' produced excellent.. My initially was faulty out of the packet but Newegg honored a rapidly RMA for a replacement thats been operating fine. As talked about in 'Cons' the drive was faulty but was swiftly replaced by Newegg for a new unit in a few days.Thank you Newegg. My rebate was sent in and was fulfilled in less than a single month. I'm suitably impressed. (A Citi Visa card) Thank you Patriot.I was going to drop an egg for the DOA but I'm reviewing a working device and the great 1 offers me no cause to mark it down. I consider a poor device in thousands is somewhat inevitable and doesn't truly warrant a demerit against every single one made.

Relatively quickly writes and decent read rates.Possessing employed a faulty OCZ model, I was a bit skeptical moving forward. This device, nonetheless, has been performing flawlessly. I have loads of tech stuff and images and its nevertheless only half total (or is that half empty?). I'm about to reformat it and add a boot sector/ Bart PE. Metallic case is a plus. No built-in encryption and its not as sleek as OCZ's for instance.LED is hard to see due to its placement (why contain a LED only to hide it?). Its cover either requires to be more translucent or the diode itself a bit brighter. To their credit though, its not 1 of those annoyingly bright ones. Comes w/ lanyard and is a solid device general. Cant wait for the 128G - although I dont know how I'd fill that up. Manufacturer Response:Dear jimbo I'm sorry that you did not find the aesthetics of the drive as sleek as you wished but I would like to thank you for acquiring our item. Love the 64gb capacity. Formatted NTFS and utilizing it for a 50gb TrueCrypt encrypted container. Operating like a charm! Only con is the width, won't operate with another usb device in side-by-side ports. Not worth knocking a star off though; use it in a port by itself, or use the included brief usb extension cable. I'm prepared for a 128gb version!

Comment:
This factor is beefy - big storage and big structure. It's definitely incredibly nicely created of some pretty durable metal. It traveled with me via winter weather and it got Very cold, so you can inform it's got a robust metal exterior. I also truly like the construction of the cap - it's incredibly sturdy, snaps onto the front or back so you won't shed it.So far it formatted reliably and has copied files reliably. I formatted it NTFS and I've been carrying out some incredibly significant file transfers lately.Echo the final poster - this factor is physically Big. Strongly recommend you use the extension cable that comes with it and not just plug it straight into the Computer. Won't even fit if I attempted on the back or front USB ports of my Computer. I use a tail. It's not precisely super rapid. Whereas my 16 GB Corsair will usually bring files down at about 11 or 12 mb/s, this thing taps out at about 9.five. It almost certainly varies for what you're copying - but I'm not positive how. In case it's handy to know, I was copying a couple 15+ GB .mkv files. It's acceptable for such a giant size even though. One tiny quibble about the style - I like the cap and how it snaps onto each ends, but if you're working with the talisman tail, you can't snap the lid onto the back, so it can float about and get lost in all that laptop or computer junk.

It holds a lot of bits; fairly rugged; does not heat up through use Cap is quickly lost I put an SSD in my notebook so I was genuinely looking for further space. This drive is big sufficient to hold something, truly. You can load an whole operating technique, programs, and so on. It's fast adequate to view 1080 movies directly. And it's physically huge enough not to heat up throughout use. The cap is quickly lost though. I heartily advocate purchasing one of those silly small thumb drive instances to maintain this in. I also suggest utilizing the extension cable when plugged into your portable in case it gets bumped (it'll almost certainly bend the USB plug).

It's a usb drive Awful write speed (ɝMB/s), lots of negative interactions with OS partitioning tools (there is no way to use this drive with multiple partitions that doesn't make it unusable for two of windows/osx/linux). Bit bulky as other reviewers stated. You are greater off purchasing multiple smaller sized drives or a transportable HD. Greatest disappointment I've had with hardware in a extended time, and no way to return for a refund. That'll teach me to be much more cautious ordering in the future. Very rapidly, although with a continuous mixture of reads and writes, it's only slightly much better than average. When plugging into a Windows XP or Vista Computer, about half the time, the device shows up as an Unknown Device. Repeated unplugging and plugging in will eventually get the device recognized as a mass storage device.I'm concerned that, at some point, the device will not be recognized and I'll shed all my information. I have two of these and I have, now don't laugh, Dallas the television show seasons 1 - six on a single of these and 7 - 12 on the other 1. I nevertheless have to get a smaller sized a single for the rest of the seasons when they come out. The video top quality is excellent and almost everything is great. I wish the value would come down much more on these sorts of things. This is a good way to preserve movies and stuff like that. I know it will outlast DVDs and every little thing else. I'll be watching Dallas shows from this drive for the 80th time or much more 20 years from now!

Comment:
Owned this for quite a few months now and still operating effectively. The write speed isn't the ideal of the flash drive I've attempted, but its reasonable. The principal point is the huge storage space. It also have a sturdy body perform. Slow transfer speed if formatted as NTFS (see below). For some cause this flash drive have horrible speed if you format it as to NTFS, I imply noticeably many times slower than if formatted as FAT32. So you want to maintain it as FAT32 to hold the quick speed. I consider most folks complained about the speed mainly because they don't realize this. The dilemma for most users is the moment they currently reformatted the drive as NTFS, Windows doesn't let you format a drive this big as FAT32, you will want to use Linux or Mac or a partition software program. I haven't tried exFAT format however.

Comment:
I/O is above typical for this class of device. Thin sufficient so that one particular can use other ports when USB ports are stacked. A wee bit wider than I'd like, as it will consume two USB ports in a lot of side-by-side configurations. Cap does NOT keep on. The plastic collar that holds the PCB board inside the admittedly nice metal housing neither stays within the housing, nor does it maintain the PCB board in spot. Even though this has no apparent effect on overall performance, there is NO WAY that this will final a lot more than a couple years, as it persists on separating into its 4 pieces in my pocket - already as soon as resulting in my having to bend the USB port back "straight"; I'm not a lanyard sort of guy, so it will have to endure sharing pocket space with other USB Flash drives, spare modify, and lint - none of which bode well for longevity. If YOU are a lanyard type of person, beware that the lanyard loop is of the very same suspicious plastic that the PCB collar is produced of.I have dozens of USB flash drives, and though this Magnum nonetheless performs properly, I predict that there's no way it will last - my preferred USB Flash drive is from competitorX; a survivor *hint hint* with a great water-tight screw on cap for a completely metal housing. I think all my USB Flash drive purchases in the future will be of that type.- as a last thought, I noticed what appear to be burn marks on the exterior of the chips on the PCB; even though there is no apparent overall performance concern, they undoubtedly don't fill me with confidence. I think I'll be undertaking an RMA on it.

Fast, a lot of storage for transfering files from computer system to pc, lifetime warranty. Of course the cap, but, if you do loose your cap customer assistance will send you a new a single...so not that large of a deal. The aluminum situation came appart from the back piece of plastic (which is connected to the memory chip) I place a drop of Gorilla glue on the plastic slid the aluminum situation back on and left it to dry for a handful of hours. In no way had an additional challenge. Upgrading from a 2GB to a 64GB tends to make all of the distinction. I save whatever I want now...from ISOs to every single update for Windows XP to my complete music collection. General Extremely Happy!

Big capacity, affordable cost. We bought this device since it has huge capacity and was shown as rated for ReadyBoost with Vista, which generally implies compatibility with Windows 7. Apparently not! It won't function with Windows 7 64-bit on two extremely different machines, 1 old laptop and 1 new workstation. It's also too wide. I had to get rid of other usb cables to get this into the slot. What the heck? Don't get this for ReadyBoost. Manufacturer Response:Dear dribble,Due to the fact of the big capacity of the drive, the usb flash drive will be physically bigger than drives with much less capacity. Readyboost is host-dependent. Depending on how fast the technique is, Readyboost could not perform. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.Sort Regards,Patriot Memory SupportSupport@patriotmem.com

-Large space... recognizes virtually 65gb on my MacBook Pro, I use it to backup my complete iTunes library-Rapidly-Well built: the create top quality is fairly fantastic. It feels incredibly solid in the hand-The string on the finish of the stick is handy for travel.-Price tag, for the size, this is (or at least was, when I purchased in Jan 2010) a great deal. -Physically huge, if I have this plugged into my MBP straight it blocks the other USB slot. BUT my Magnum came with a USB extender which fixes that. Unlike other reviewers I haven't had a issue with the cap. I have applied it pretty consistently and not had it break or fall off on me. Good USB if you are looking for big capacity. I purchased this for reliable and super transportable backup. It hasn't dissapointed me.
