Comment:
Works as advertised. Finicky power cable. I've been employing this irregularly for almost a year now. From the start the power cable gave me difficulties, not liking to be touched through use. A bump could mean a power interruption to the device. If you keep your hands off, even so, there are no concerns and the drive works perfectly as lengthy as you'd like.

Functions well XP and Ubuntu decent thoughput. I like the rubber drive enclosures for three.five and two.5 drives Did not perform with my Quite OLD 250 MB, 340 MB, 1 of my 850 MB drives, and 1 of my 1.2 G drives. Truly did not care about those old drives, got the data off of them long ago.

Tiny, Effortless to Use, works with Windows, works with Linux (Debian, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Salix, and Linux Mint). Works with SATA and IDE...even old IDE drives. I bought this one since I like Rosewill excellent and value. Rosewill has superior top quality even though keeping the price tag lower. None so far...I wish the power brick had been smaller that's about it. Purchased this to recover data that I lost when I formatted a 250GB drive. Employed in conjunction with photorec (windows or linux version accessible) and it did just fine...plugged in it appears like a USB drive...if ext2Ǚǚ photorec will detect but windows won't...just run the program.

* Quickly* Solid build* USB activity LED* Power provide switch LED * Wish it came with its own SATA cable... I had plenty to spare... but it had all the other adapters included... ought to have that cable too.* Would like to have a carrying case to maintain it all together This is a fantastic product, had mine for more than 7 months and use it in my Computer small business often. No troubles at all. Really like the LED indicators so I know when it is powered up and operating. You'll require to invest in a pouch or little box to maintain every little thing together and clean.

All in one particular IDE ƒ.5Ǚ.five) and SATA connectivity.Power adapter functions effectively, good snug fit.Cool LED light.Notebook IDE drives powered by USB.It just works! You Need to remember if you are hooking up a three.5 inch IDE drive to power it up Just before you attach the USB cord. It WILL NOT operate otherwise and give you all sorts of errors. Aside from the above con this is a wonderful adapter, have had no other problems.

It's kinda cool getting a device that you just plug into any piece of junk drive and test it out or swap files with out messin with installing it and by just shoving it into your USB port The order of events to do to make it function isn't extremely clear, somewhere between plugging into the USB and plugging in the power provide or turning the power provide on it's not precise each time - it will always work - but takes a small acquiring applied to it - a case would be good Again, a case would be nice. I'll almost certainly pick up a plastic pencil case to cram all the junk into or try and come across a cigar boxThe two rubber sleeves are rather useless as us folks carrying out this sort of function aren't the sort to dick around attempting to get our drives into these sleeves if it's a temp thing and if it's a perm thing we need to have to mount them

Straightforward to use. Like the on/off switch on the energy adapter. Super flexiblity for all types and sizes of drives. Like the rubber drive caddies, a nice plus vs. some of the other adapters. Non so far. I required a USB adapter for a consumers corrupt Sata drive. Tried plugging it into an esata port and it would crash or locj up the program. This device allowed me to mount a poor drive and use a information recovery plan to get files off it. Extremely recommened for any IT pro. thanks Newegg!!!

I like this. It is modest sufficient to get stored away when not in use, but not tough to set up when you need it. I was organizing to get a desktop drop in dock, but I really didn't want an additional device on my desk that I would use once a month at ideal. You do have to think about what you are laying the hard drive on just before you use it. Difficult drives were never developed to sit flat on a table. The docks leave the challenging drives hanging in cost-free air for cooling. These make you lay it flat so heat can be a difficulty. When doing big transfers I put a desk fan blowing on it to maintain it cool. Also make positive the boards don't short against anything. If you use a bare drive as a routine backup a dock may possibly be much better. I use these just to test drives, and a way to move info from an old drive onto a new drive that is why the IDE/SATA is good. I still use a actual external hard drive as a backup device. The case acts as a heat sink, and you don't have to be concerned about shorting the boards.

Does what it's supposed to - turns a "raw" hard drive into a USB external drive. The silicone drive covers are a nice touch, but I'm really pleased about the basic little thumb operated power switch on the power cable - I had one of these a couple of years ago that didn't have that function so you had to physically unplug the power supply from the wall to turn it off - which usually made me uneasy about what it may possibly have been performing to my drives... The cost is nice too. Can't genuinely locate any fault with it; the most I can come up with is "it'd be good if they included a felt drawstring bag with it to hold all of it (the silicone situations, power supply, the gizmo itself) when not in use that's simple to carry around"

Not very high priced, which is a superior thing, given that I will be eating the price of it.Other than that I wouldn't know. The product doesn't work with Windows 7 as I had hoped, even if I attempt to force Vista drivers on it. Spoke to tech support that told me to update Windows so that newer drivers could be accessed. No dice. Drives all come up as invalid in the manager, even although they perform perfectly fine when installed internally. Then was told to use it on a unique OS or RMA it. Total waste of my time. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,Thank you extremely much for invest in the RCW-608. We strive to present the most dependable and highest good quality items to our shoppers. 1. Works exactly the way it's advertised to do and seamlessly properly in a Win 7 environment with no any additional drivers or software program.two. The silicone trays are a fantastic benefit in securing & handling the challenging drives you are operating on.three. In brief, delivers the ultimate in flexibility in accessing any 3.5 or two.five inch IDE/SATA drive4. Its transfer rate hovered about 28 MB/sec. It copied 5.60 GB size information (two files) in specifically three minutes and 45 seconds in a Win 7 Pro environment.5. Attractively priced (I bought it throughout promotion) None. Just beware the included driver CD is for Win 98. I believe this kit is an "essential" for any techie but will be equally valuable to all users who have more than 1 computer or laptop to manage. Kudos to the designers and manufacturers.

Very nice kit. Better then the old Bytecc adapter I have.-Power cable has an on/off switch.-The adapter lights up with a nice blue hue to signal drive activity.-Comes with protective case for two.5 and 3.five in drives [in black not blue as in the photos.]Great for a quick hdd hook-up for replacing/cloning old drives onto spanking new drives. -none definitely.some may complain its not most recent sata/usb interfaces. Should have tech tool of the year!!

Comment:
Cables and wires are hefty and decent quality for the cost, connectors fit nice and tight, on-off switch is great. I have a couple of these kind adapters and the style-style of this model has created this my preferred adapter. I've utilised it on 4 distinct PC's all operating diverse OS's and it has worked flawlessly every time. For the cost, there's not much to complain about. Very same design except metal housing rather of plastic would be fantastic. A carry case is the only thing missing from this package, its an awkward device, and a fold-zip carry case would be tremendously appreciated. If you have a PC repair business, this will be a too you use on a daily basis.

I applied this with an IDE HD and a sata HD. Worked just fine with each drives. This makes it less complicated to move information off or on to a drive, with out turning off and opining up the pc.I had no issue partitioning/formatting either the sata or the IDE drive. Sata cable is brief, so I just used my own.Not a massive deal Nice to get some use of older disks laying about.I employed them to hold backup disk images.Cost was low-cost enough, I hope it lasts.

Affordable, cables are a excellent length for a workbench setup, compact, came with rubber housing for the drives as a bonus. None so far. I had a hard time choosing a brand/model for a IDE/SATA to USB adapter. I ended up selecting this 1 and am very pleased with it therefore far, it's read multiple drives no issue. As long as it doesn't suddenly die or fry a drive I will have definitely nothing bad to say about this item.

lots of flexibility to deal with just about any widespread laptop or desktop drive power switch doesn't click positively. Wouldn't stay on.casing around power switch fell apart almost right away This one's going back and I'll attempt once again. I like the design. Perhaps the second 1 won't have such a junky power switch

Not only is the style additional streamlined and compact than the other systems, it has a lot of blue leds to indicate issues are 'on'. The soft rubber boots (one for each of either a laptop or desktop hdd) to protect the hdd though it's becoming utilised externally is a simple but required stroke of extra care. There is a on-off switch for the power supply source. Once again, kudos. The switch to turn the power supply on-off was a little touchy at first, but right after some reps of flexing it on and off it finally stabilized. whew! I would have hated to send this back. Rosewill has been coming out with far more goods lately, and they've shown they make a pretty excellent style choices. It's a very good time to get pleasure from their item line, prior to they get too consumed by their stockholders needs and forget ours.

You get what you pay for. You get what you pay for. The power supply was DOA. Unit looks fantastic, no obvious harm, just no DC voltage. Newegg's on-line RMA is a snap, and I'm sure they'll get me a working unit eventually, but I'm now out an additional ten bucks for shipping the DOA unit back. So..if you're doing a price comparison between various models, add บ to this one up front. You could be far better off spending that ten bucks on a higher-top quality model to start with.
