* compact* relatively strong plastic construction The unit I received is either defective or incompatible with an 8GB AData class6 microSDHC card inserted into an SDHC adapter. The Rosewill RSD-CR106 will recognize and READ my memory card just fine, but it will NOT write to OR format the memory card. Tested on XP/Vista/Win7/W2k, any Write operation causes the OS to complain that the card is write protected. Yes, I know about the sliding write-shield tab! And NO, it is NOT in the "lock" position. How do I know? Effectively, I can read the directions on the card just fine, plus, I went and purchased a Unique SDHC card reader (Sabrent CR-SDMMC) and inserted the Exact Same 8GB card and it reads & writes just fine! There is a mechanical switch inside this card reader, visible via the clear plastic case, that detects the position of a memory card's write-protect tab. At 1st, I thought that switch was defective. But the Roswewill tests fine, reads & writes, with a 1 & 2GB SD card(non-SDHC). So it's H/W defect. It's compatibililty prob! Typically I would return a defective item for refund, but since NewEgg tends to make the buyer spend return shipping, EVEN IF NEWEGG SHIPS A DEFECTIVE ITEM, it would in all probability price me more to return than I paid for the card reader! All I can do is warn other potential buyers about my encounter! But I'm half expecting my negative evaluation will get "lost" and not posted. Performs outstanding, specially with big SDHC cards and quick cards that are class 10! Good look and feel, light blue color tends to make it simple to come across in the desktop pile! I just purchased two far more simply because they are on sale for Aů.99 with free of charge shipping! The 16 gig Wintec brand card I put in it can hold 20 films or a ton of data. Tends to make it usefull as a small SSD. Tends to make playing motion pictures on your laptop use a lot less energy and tends to make the battery final longer! Not actually a con, but the point is a little larger in size than some of the other ones I have. It is bigger than a typical usb memory stick. BUT, it operates nicely and is a excellent size to keep track of and not get lost. It is low-cost sufficient to place an SDHC card in and leave it with each other and use as an SSD drive. If you get the Wintec 16 gig card, that is class 10, to put in it, it is truly quick. I can't get sufficient of these points! I under no circumstances knew there had been classes of SDHC cards, but I do now! 1=slow ten=fastest.

Was working fantastic for about a week, then my card began stating that it was locked. I figured it may possibly be my old SD card, so I ordered a new one. Sadly, it looks like the reader is just locked for fantastic. It functions out, since I was working with it to keep files that I didnt want touched, but it tends to make keeping them up to date somewhat bothersome. It still functions, but not as described. Eh, you know. Could be much better I guess.

It really quickly transfers my photographs off my SDHC card. My pictures are 16 megapixel so a rapidly transfer rate is vital immediately after a photo shoot. Very easily fits in a smaller pocket in my camera bag. Non so far. Utilizing this with my 8GB SanDisk Extreme cards that I have in my new Nikon D7000.

Pros - Value, convenience, does what it is supposed to do. Cons - I've had mine for a couple years, and it has now split in half, and will not let me to copy files onto my micro SD. It is probably not realistic to expect it to live forever, so I will be acquiring an additional.

It does what it was meant to do. I purchased it for a cousin because he necessary to swap out information from a memory card to one more. I was with him every single time hes utilised it so I can show him how it's completed. It doesnt have a WOW!!!! aspect but then once more you wont be searching at it when you use it. It does it's job period. the only factor that can be put right here is it breaking but if it does u have nobody to blame but your self due to the fact its pretty good construction. lot of people speak about the LED becoming too vivid... IT'S AN L.E.D. just look at the monitor. that mentioned there is Nothing at all incorrect with this item.
