Very easy to use. Worked instantly with older drive installed and Windows 2000 Pro instantly recognized the drive and mounted it. Can't beat the price!

WORKS GREAT: Only needs 1 USB port NOT 2 like some reviews stated eventhough it has a Y cable, only one is needed(the thicker one). Used 40 gig bought at same time from Tiger. AWSOME to get files off site and keep with you(incase of fire or theft). Only weighs 6 oz. with HD installed. Driver disk only needed with Windows 98se. PLUG AND PLAY with XP!!

Slid the 40gb HD from the junked laptop right in, closed the case, and plugged in the USB cables. Worked right off the bat. barely gets warm, so cooling isn't a problem.

The enclosure worked perfectly. The hard drives slid right into the case and were recognized instanly by Windows XP. They work on both the USB 2 and 1 connections with just a little noticeable difference in speed. Great product for the money.

I have used Sabrents 3.5'' enclosures and love them. There seems to be two versions of them sold by TigerDirect (one with switch, one without) but thought I'd try the 2.5'' since I have two old notebook harddrives that are just lying around. I bought this enclosure and neither of them fit. I tried everything to get them to go into the enclosure but they would not. Maybe it's the older drives but whatever it was I destroyed one drive because I thought I had it in there and it scrapped the back control board so deep it wouldn't read from it in the notebook anymore. So if you have a really old drive, mine was a 3.2gb IBM, it might not fit. Really wanted something small and portable but this apparently is not it.

Comment:
It worked fine with my old 6GB IBM/Hitachi notebook drive. Everything enumerated properly under WinXP (SP2) without need for the driver CD-ROM. But it has a few mechanical problems. First, it needs a more rugged method for strain-relieving the actual hard drive's connection to the case's internal header. And the connector scheme is a bit cheesy. The siamesed connectors at the host end weren't required with my drive, which spun up just fine with less than 500mA of starting current and 125mA of continuous current -- which is inside the USB spec for a single port. But the drive uses an ''A'' connector on its housing where a ''B'' connector is appropriate. (Somebody at Sabrent needs to reread the USB spec...) The connector on the drive case, aside from being the wrong gender, is poorly made. Because it worked with mimimal fussing with the OS, and it was only $9, it's worth three stars. To get the other two, the fit and finish needs some improvement.

I tried a couple of 2.5'' HD's and none of them would fit in the case. It also needs two USB ports for it to work and was never told in the description.

Spectacular! It literally took me longer to open and unpack the shipping box than it did to install and use the hard drive. It comes with a three-headed USB cable; one for the drive, one for your computer, and the other for power. I didn't need to even use the latter, it powered on right from the first USB port. My old laptop's motherboard and power supply died. I salvaged the memory and the hard drive from it. Because the drive was already formatted, I was using it with the enclosure in under two minutes after removing it from the box. Installation is that easy! My family is not keen on sharing files over a network, so this was a perfect solution. One of the best investments I ever made! Comes with a nice leather form-fitted carrying case for chic mobility. I highly recommend this product. Now, I'll proably buy a few more 3.5'' ones for my old desktop drives that I've been loathe to part with.

Works awesome. Watch the screws though. They're really tiny. I just put in the hard drive, put in the screws and plugged it in. No questions asked.

Added my 100 GB drive and had it working in minutes. Had no problem understanding instructions or using dual USB cables. Can overload a laptop USB port if you only use one connector. Best to use a powered USB 2.0 hub.

Works flawlessly BUT (1)Requires newer 'slimline' hard drives - Will not accept older 'thicker' drives (2) Documentation does not clearly explain the purpose of the Y cable supplied - It has 1 long/thick and 1 short/thin branch - Instructions state you plug the 'power' one between enclosure & PC - and only the thicker one works!

This is junk. Ships with a special USB cable with 2 USB ends so it needs 2 USB ports - just sucks power from one. I used a 40gb Travelstar drive & couldn't even get the cover to fit on right. Drivers come on one of those mini-CD's which won't mount in any of the CD drives on my desktop.
