Other than Samsung being a somewhat new organization to production of HDDs there aren't any. Purchased it for a personal develop a few months ago and I am very pleased. HDtune results are some of the very best achievable with a 7200rpm drive and its reliability under strain is unsurpassed. I get superior Read/Write speeds than with any other 500GB ive applied or tested.WD has been my corporation for numerous years but due to a greater than regular failure rate I decided to experiment.I am NOT disappointed.

It was wonderful although it lasted. Quick for price and sort of drive. Died currently. Only activity was a MSE scan and then the dreaded repetitive click of death. Drive not observed by BIOS. Tried all SATA channels to make certain. Absolutely nothing. Believed this was a reputable drive. Feel I may possibly only by WD drives from now on...

Directions are uncomplicated to follow. Vista detected and installed drivers for the hardrive automatically. Completed the installation at laptop or computer management in a breeze. Copies files quick!! 3yrs warranty. :) The HDD keeps falling asleep (or at least thats what it sounds like) either when I access files or when windows writes memory to it. I ran diagnostics and it didn't find something wrong. I'm employing it to back-up files incase the key hard disk fails. It's fantastic to have a 2nd HDD.

The Office of the CEO called me and I received an apology for the issues as nicely as the promise to send me a 25$ Amex gift card to cover any shipping expenses. The card arrived a few days later.I sent the drives with USPS and received operating replacements within 5 organization days.The drives need to have not turned sour in the very first location, but Samsung's response was superb and as far as I can tell, the replacement is a brand new drive. Its a great, cheap, tough drive that's it. So far it works wonderful no challenge even tho it's a Spinpoint, its not as fast as it could be. Transfer rate not the ideal but for the cost its not poor. Transfer rate not great

I bought this drive to upgrade an old IDE 80GB Barracuda. This drive is considerably quicker even with windows 7 on it. Nonetheless fits in the exact same metal case that my old one did and is quite quiet. I believe it has 465GB not 500GB.

Appears speedy even although it's only 1 platter. Very good price. Solid reputation. None so far. It's audible only in a silent room. Decent cost for massive capacity, if they would last. Each started to give paging errors in my Event Viewer. Beginning seeing method freeze. Checked my Event Viewer and noticed paging errors on disk that started to boost overtime until it was just too much. Double checked employing different sata ports, same difficulty. Exchanged 1st drive, then as soon as I installed the replacement drive my second Samsung drive started but it failed over a period of days, not months like the first 1. Each are exact identical drives. Right after I'm done with these Samsung drives I'm going back to Western Digital.

I have numerous of these of diverse capacities and have by no means had a difficulty with any of them. This 1 is terrific. Not much to say besides obtain it, you'll enjoy it. Tests a little low on "Windows Experience" but who genuinely cares. Was quick and trouble no cost though it endured. Did not last really long. Researched this drive thoroughly and thought I was finding a actual deal for the funds. The drive lasted approx. 1 year with out any trouble, then 1 morning it was a paper weight. I give this drive 1 egg since I gave it 5 eggs in an earlier review and so the two ratings must balance every single other out and accurately reflect the value of the drive for me. I know drives don't last forever, but I can't afford to believe of them as disposable either.

Not sure. When a drive fails within a year, you know one thing isn't perfect. And when I have to pay for shipping to return it when it's nonetheless under warranty, that's even a lot more wrong! Fast drive, good expense to storage ratio. Purchased 3 in Nov. 2010. As of Jan. 27 2011 2 of the three have failed with no warning. They were portion of a RAID with an operating program on it and minor video editing duties being performed. No where NEAR full. They're clearly not pressure testing these as part of QC, otherwise both of the failures would have been detected.
