Right away did a diagnostics examine on the drive, went OK. Partitioned it into three drives. 50 gig OS, 50 gig for swap, encoding, temp stuff, and the rest media. Installed XP, Boxee, and off it went. Been excellent so far. The situation is noticeably cooler. I have a very cramped mini itx situation, the smallest I've ever noticed. I leave the lid off b/c it was receiving too hot, now I'll possibly put it back on. not the fastest, but we know it's not meant to be. I got 50 MB/s Read/Write of my media from an additional SATA- to this 1 SATA transferred. Boot time is fine, seek/ opening of programs are ok, as good or greater than my old 80 gig SATA drive. No complaints right here. Worthy of 5 stars, but I reserve these for incredible merchandise.

I decided to replace my two 160 gb hard drives with failing RAIDS for this a single. Regardless of a little trouble on my element getting the BIOS to recognize this new drive as the major, it is now up and running with no issues. None that I can feel of I had to google a couple of instances to figure out how to get my Pc to recognize that I had swapped two drives for this one particular. I just reset the BIOS to factory settings, and POOF! It worked.

Appears properly produced and is quiet. Rapid enough for processing backups speedily (I use in USB/SATA hard drive docks). It does what I require it to do and Newegg's value was acceptable at the time. There is no documentation to inform what the jumper pins are for. It was rather a procedure to acquire software program from Samsung to verify and/or transform its settings (the offered documentation is outdated) - an unnecessary hassle. You can transform the SATA mode and quiet level (speed) if you can get the necessary computer software from Samsung. I have 4 of these operating in RAID 5 for virtually 6 months without having any troubles. They don't run also hot and 5400 keeps the noise somewhat lower for my server. Non therefore far

Don't know of any. the item came in nowadays as a DOA,it got stuck at 11% for an hour and half for the duration of the partition formatting procedure, then it failed the diagnostics test. it's going back to newegg tomorrow. newegg has the best client service in my opinion.

Very good price tag, low energy, low noise. Not advanced format like newer WD Green drives, so this may possibly be a better selection for an XP box. None so far, bought two for computer software RAID 1 and they are working fine. Had an HD103SI in yet another program that died on me after about six months of use, even though. Hopefully these ones last longer. NewEgg's hard drive packaging appears to be somewhat hit or miss. I was pleased that these disks arrived packaged fairly properly. They were in their plastic clam shell, wrapped in bubble wrap, each place in a smaller box, and then these boxes were placed in the shipping box.

it's a tricky drive and it performs like it's supposed toi've in no way had any problems with any of the hard drives i ever bought ahead of from different producers, internet sites and shops and i don't expect to have any troubles with this one particular.whats neat is that this hard drive runs at 8-ten degrees celsius lower than any of my other tricky drives. this a single appears to run at about 37ish degrees. hmmm, ought to be the ecogreen? don't know, but whatever it is it's cool no cons. this difficult drive was supposed to be bare, but mine did come with 4 screws, so thats cool

Lots of room to shop information. Sata. Straightforward install. Quiet. Not ideal for running applications or an os from. Didn't pay for that either nevertheless. Haven't owned a Samsung drive before. I'm pleased thus far with the drive.

None actually. Unwrapped it, plugged it onto my motherboardand it didn't work. Had to RMA for a different a single. Genuinely hate to pay shipping for anything that must function to replace anything that didn't perform. I been buying from newegg for quite a few years. Lots and lots and lots of bits for not a lot of dollars. It also runs incredibly cool and really quiet. Perhaps half the temperature of a common 7200 RPM drive you'd get these days. It is slower than a common 7200RPM drive .... but for massive amounts of archival storage, that's actually not an concern. Its a fantastic challenging drive, burn in for couple hours no difficulty. initiated in OS X without a difficulty either, appears sturdy. Have it in a Coolmaster external, operates ok for this purpose. Also for 49.99$ 1tb, not bad. transfer speeds reduced due to 16mb / 5400rpm but appropriate for these desires. wouldnt advise for internal for OS.

its 1tb and it works and the price tag wasn't poor its freaking LOUD it sounds just as loud as those challenging drives in our old pc back in 5th grade. and jeeeez i can really feel the challenging drive operating three feet awhile via the table i have it sitting on. it just sound like a deep bass grinding. each and every tiny amount of information that is applied causes it to be super loud, opening windows,programs,moving the mouse, its wretched. perhaps i just had a negative pick.

Affordable it ran rapidly, quiet, and cool inside a freenas server for about 6 months then a few clicking noises and that was it. I did manage to pull the data off test the drive (it passed with samsung tools) and then move the information back on prior to it completely quit. Lost 600 gig in HD films. Samsung RMA seemed painless, but I have to spend shipping to samsung, they pay the return. It Quit now I gotta lot of torrents to go come across and endless hours o replacing what I lost.

Quiet drive. Turns off when not in use. None For only 5400RPM it's a wonderful back up drive. Don't need to have anything too rapidly just to use it to back up MP3's and other data.

Runs coolNice price tag None however found Precisely what I was seeking for. Inexpensive and low operating temp. Installed in a linux server as a RAID drive, and runs regularly between 29C-31C temp ࿴F - 88F). Using it to store videos for my media server, so speed not a factor for me.

Drive is actually quickly, doesn't appear to have any issues, and is genuine quiet. That's all I want out of a storage drive, as massive I/O isn't necessarily that significant for it's purposes. It could often be a tiny more rapidly. :)

This hard drive is very quickly! The difference in between this 5400 RPM and a 7200 RPM drive is hardly noticeable. Lots of space at an insanely low price tag! Doesn't come with a sticker LOL I may acquire it again for another construct.
