Extremely good worth per MB, practically silent operation (not sure about the problems other people have had), works reliably. According to Win 7, this is the "weak link" in my make as far as "experience" is concerned ƕ.9 on the Windows meter). Generally that indicates it's not a 7200 RPM drive, but it's labeled as such, so you really should know what you're acquiring. I wouldn't downgrade it an egg for that.

i was expecting a thing like my four year old caviar blue, but i was just blown away when it was faster, as i sort this i am moving a 100gig file in less then 28 minutes at a rate of about 65 mbs write time. nevertheless nothing like my raptor. i never believed a 5400rmp hd would be quick soon after operating a 1000 rmp, but for video and television shows this time function fantastic. I am now thinking about geting two more to replace my 500 gig cav blue.

These are running cool and quiet in my residence server. I haven't ran any speed tests on them but I can stream my 720p videos off them with no problems They had been just barely too wide for my actually old case. I'm not confident if it is the case that is too narrow or what but I bought a cheapo rosewill case and they fit fine.

Lots of storage, affordable. Drive has a superior reputation for being dependable. Picked it up on particular for ๆ shipped. Didn't come preformatted so I had to boot employing a win 7 CD to partition the drive and format it for my program to recognize it. Not actually a fault of the OEM, and it's probable it's a dilemma with my method, so no eggs deduction, just some thing to be aware of. Dive is NOT the fastest, although I knew that going in. It's a 5400 RPM drive. That getting said it's excellent for what I intend to use it for - network mass storage for digital media. Sustained speeds of ㆆ MB/sec. This is fairly solid for a five.4K RPM drive.

Nice, quiet, great value 2 out of 3 have failed. When contacting Samsung support I have been repeatedly lied to and given all sorts of runarounds. Emails tell me to call. Men and women on the call tell me to email. Then there is the web submission form that does not work. The latest update from them is that the warranty is invalid if installed in a non-samsung personal computer and that the technique builder have to be responsible for any warranty. In impact the 3 year warranty does not exist. What a shame - I have over a dozen Samsung drives in service and 2Ǚ of these failed. The runaround from Samsung is the most disappointing aspect. Newegg is attempting to help but who knows.

-Recognized simply by BIOS and OSes (Linux /Windows 2008 R2)-Performance wise no complains here, it was holding the job nicely for what it meant to do.-quiet not noisy would be nice if shipped at least with sata cable, it came bare naked. the product is not leading of the line don't expect too significantly, F2 is fantastic for this size, and the spead isn't that wow, 5400 with 32MB Cache is just about performing very good job here.

no problems none I use this as a backup drive (not raid or primary drive everyday)so i didn't care that it was 5400 rpm, when I run my backups I am typically not at the pc and just come back when its completed , typically when I have a thing else planned for that time to do,I have not had any file issues with the drive

Cheap Slow, this drive is considerably noisier than other drive that I employed in past (e.g. Maxtor, WD, and Segate) Lots of looking for/reading noise throughout initial Windows start or any other load procedure. If I have the alternative to choose again, I will pick key brand like WD and Segate.

These drives just run - day in and day out. They simply do their job which is some thing Seagate and the other guys can;t say any far more. Some noise when they are reading and writing. A lot better than the "Click of Death".

Cost and low power consumption. 6 out of 6 had RAM errors according to Samsung's tools. I started with 3. Was having challenge with random boot errors. Ran the test and got RAM errors, AJ41. Attempted a drive in one more pc with diverse chipset and CPU, identical error. Sent them back for replacement. three replacement drives show similar error. New Egg treated me well and refunded my obtain cost with no restock fee or shipping due to the fact the drivers had been defective. Both shipments had been packaged incredibly properly.

Fairly and cool whilst it lasts. At least it's a common form factor so I can replace it with one thing else :\ I've been making use of the drive as a backup/mirror destination. It received extremely light (once a week) use for 6 months until just the last couple of days when I utilised Windows 'robocopy' command to mirror directories on my user drive and refresh them periodically. Now Windows and Wise are reporting the drive as failing. Sometimes difficult drives fail, that's a reality of life. What doesn't have to be a truth of life is a useless internet site. I've bought about two dozen Samsung tough drives and prior to this I only had 1 fail. That was years ago and at that time it was trivial to pop on the Samsung web site and request an RMA. Not any additional. Very first of all, their internet web site is broken for the F series drives, it doesn't present any model numbers so you can't even check to see if they have a diagnostic tool. Second, when I try to submit feedback on the web page, it reports that there is a challenge sending the e-mail. You can't chat with an agent mainly because difficult drives aren't supported that way. Oh nicely. I've stayed with Samsung mainly because I've had really couple of troubles with their drives and the 1 time I necessary to RMA 1, it was a no-hassle event that took less than five minutes to accomplish. So far I've wasted 20 minutes trying 3 various browsers to make sure the web page truly is broken and that it's not my browser. It's not, model numbers show up for all the other drive series except for the F series.I think I'll see how WD is performing these days, haven't bought 1 of theirs in a though. A warranty I can't use mainly because the site blocks me from accessing any facts about the drive is successfully no warranty at all, and a half hour of my time is worth additional than the price of a new drive so off I go to attempt a different flavor. If everyone sees Samsung walking down the street tell them my primary workstation with the HD103SI, HD300LD, HD501LJ and two HD642JJ tough drives in it is about to trade get a non-Samsung disk in it. I'd tell them myself but their site doesn't perform either.

This drive is wonderful! It seems to be fairly quickly for such a huge drive and only 5400 rpm. It is practically silent, I cant hear it more than my fans. It runs about the same temps as my WD. 1 factor I notice is I get a Air Flow reading from this drive also, My additional pricey WD does not do that! None but, I have only had it a week... This thing is wonderful so far! I anticipate it too last a number of years for me and if it does that it could not be greater!

I got four of these on the low-cost a though back to run in a Raid 5 on my property server. They have been running nearly 24ǝ considering that then (I don't even let them go to sleep for the sake of keeping superior response times). Transfer rates tend to be over 50 megabytes / second. Tough to say what the limits are as gigabit ethernet can only do so a great deal, and I haven't run any benchmarks. I had to pay for them.

Wonderful price. Quiet drives. Quickly NewEgg. Ordered four@ 54 clams apiece. All 4 returned "AJ41 RAM Error" working with Samsung ES Tool, retested with a cable I know works. All 4 returned for refund. I'll foolishly give the Sammy 1.5TB drives a go rather. They're only 15 clams additional.

Cheap cost! Quiet when it did run. To save power this drive does goes to sleep when it not getting accessed. A slight delay is evident upon resuming. Would had been a decent drive if the factor worked. Well the initial one I got did not show up in the bios or windows.Sent it back out of 10$. The second one did show up in window and the bios but reported the wrong size in windows. I had to use the disk management tool in window to activate and format the drive, after that every little thing was fine for about a week. 1 day I turn on my computer system and the drive was not there. It died taking a different 1 of my drive with it. Well needless to say I was ticked off. I contacted newegg and informed them about my circumstance. They agreed to pay my shipping fee and granted me a full Refund. When you acquire from newegg and your bought does'nt work wont work or just plain conk out, you wont be mad for lengthy since newegg take excellent care of it customers. Newegg Guidelines!! I know from time to time a lot of us acquire items that are refurbished or on sale to save cash. And a lot of time this is a roll of the dice, you could get items that work and last a long time or get some junk and you wonder why you purchased it in the very first place. Reading critiques and getting from a known manufacture will assist you immensely.

When they function, they function. Bought 4 of these based on the high ratings from here and other web sites. 1 of the four arrived with failing the Wise test, so I had to RMA it. I've had all four running in a RAID five NAS for about two months, and three days ago the NAS notified me 1 of the drives once more has failed the Smart test. I removed it, tested it in a desktop, and nonetheless failed the Smart test. So it's useless and I cant RMA it mainly because it's over 30 days old. The factor that really sucks off is that I want dependable drives because I can't have my NAS down for much more than a day or two - and when a drives die, I have to get new ones ASAP so there's no time to wait for an RMA if I could've gotten one, and specifically not a manufacturer return. I've had drives from WD and Maxtor for YEARS, and they've never as soon as had an issue. Now with this, in much less than 60 days, makes me absolutely not trust them. I would go with a WD Caviar Black.

I've filled it already. But then I delete a couple duplicated files, and free of charge up 200GB:-)Carried out that a couple times already. It replaced a setup of 2 160GB + 1 80GB + 1 120GB HDD, and Ithrew THEIR contents onto this 1. A Wee bit slow, but I knew that going in (That's what she said!) just so ya know, apparently, 1 gigabyte indicates 1 billion bytes (When talkin' hdds); Nicely this has... 1,000,097,000,000 bytes, so you get a little bit far more bytes for your buck:-). The reason I mention this, is that in RAM, flash drives and such, 1 gigabite is 1,024,000,000 bytes, so that small difference makes it show up in windows as around 931 Gigabytes.
