SILVERSTONE Fortress Series FT02B-W Black Computer Case With Side Panel Window
Comment:
- Stunning case with great construct quality and attention to detail. I've never ever paid this significantly for a case but I can say its properly worth it. Some points you get what you spend for, this is one particular of them.- If you use the built in speed switches for the three 180mm fans, on low you'll be taking off the cover to make sure they're on, seriously they're that quiet. On high, you can hear them sure but it's fairly quiet, mostly blends in as background noise which is fairly impressive for 180mm.- I've under no circumstances been able to get that clean appear keeping the wires hidden but there is tons of space behind the motherboard tray to hide wires behind. The only spot you can see wires now is where they come up to connect to the distinct devices. -Even though the leading panel is produced with thick sturdy plastic, I feel like im gonna break the pins off everytime I go to pop it off to access the "back panel" connections.-BFG1000EX PSU intake fan doesnt entirely line up with the fresh air intake grill, about 1Ǚ of it is covered so no guarentees on that ideal alignment there.-Its quiet certain but not as substantially as I was expecting from the critiques. I'm coming from a Panzerbox that has x2 200mm fans in it. I was hoping for it to be additional quiet then it is (but its still quieter then the Panzerbox).-I have a complete 7.5 inch bluray/dvd burner drive and due to the fact of that length the top two five.25 bays can't be utilized since the drive hits the case where it angles down into the slot covers for external connections. On top of that I also run a pair of 6970s in CF and the connections on the drive are pinched in between the drive itself and the second card. If you have a 5.25 device that is 7.five inches in length the final expansion slot is blocked Even with the one egg off, I could quickly advise this situation to any individual looking for a qualit case that cools effectively even though also maintaining incredibly quiet at the similar time.I suggest to any person thinking of receiving this situation to assessment their program setup and assure that if they are going to have multiple GPUs operating to make sure that their optical drive is 7 inches or less in length OR to get a set of 90 degree SATA information and energy connectors so your not pinching wires into spot.As far as fitment is concerned, 6970s fit in this case with about two inches amongst the end of the card and the fan grills and a Corsair watercooler fits exceptionally properly and even looks actual nice in this case.Extremely Suggest working with a modular PSU to hold it hunting clean.Situation comes with adapter brackets to set up 120x2 radiator with the 180mm fans.PSU holds in just fine beneath the four mounting screws.

Wonderful new design and style where what would normally be the back of the personal computer is on the top because it is a Proper Side Window lay out. Heavy Solid construction. The only factor I wasn't thrilled with had been the challenging drive bays and lack of screws that came with them. The rest of it is built like a tank!!! All my earlier desktops have been left window with regular positioning. Because I have my desktops on the left side of my desk this a single I will truly be able to see the internals from a seated position. You got it proper SilverStone!

Incredibly uncomplicated to disassemble/reassemble. Really sturdy and rigid. You could park a vehicle on this issue. Rotated motherboard configuration vastly improves airflow. Has a committed spot for an SSD. A lot of space for all your drives with screwless bays and a hot-swap for your SATA HDD. Wire management is tight but ample sufficient to give a really clean appear. Plenty of cooling fans and the region for the PSU has the significant best-side fan port with its personal screen. 193mm Optical drives will stick out far adequate over the motherboard to avert use of a far left PCI-e slot (depending on what you put in the slot and which bay you insert your optical drive into). Can't use more than two video cards because of this. I am X-Firing two HD5780s and I most likely couldn't squeeze in one more card for anything. Air flow and heat management had been definately high-priority. This case is good for people placing together their 1st pc or their thousandth. It is uncomplicated to manipulate parts into the situation and the instructions that came with it are thorough and simply followed. The situation supports SST-CLEARCMOS installation. CPU cooler height limitation at 165mm and PSU at 230mm length. 30mm radiator thickness is allowed when working with 10.five" expansion cards ࿜mm for 9" cards). Max allowable MOBO size is 12"x11" Case dimensions are 212mm wide, 497mm high and 626mm deep.

* Massive situation, effortless to install elements.* Stock fans are quiet, so are Silverstone's 180mm blue fans.* Cable management is fine, in a position to route all cables behind the mobo for that clean qualified appear. It did take some preparing even though to allow the left door to close appropriately, not a con, just forces the builder to perform a little harder.* Place of power supply is great and rotation of mobo is genius. These alterations also allowed for less difficult cable management.*If you like huge solid instances then this is the case to buy. Properly worth the funds. No cons Silverstone has created one particular of the ideal cases I have ever worked with. Installing components was a breeze however I did have to program out the cable management behind the motherboard tray. As an instance, I removed all of the four pin molex connectors from my NZXT Sentry fan controller and just applied the three pin connectors. The elements look great through the windows, my Cooler Master V8 looks little inside this situation. To jazz up the situation I utilized Silverstone's 180mm blue fans, looks great and these fans are just as quiet as the stock fans.As extended as the market keeps generating ATX mobos for newer and more quickly processors I'll by no means need to have another case!

This is the very best case I've ever owned. The air flow design is second to none. The looks are really clean and specialist. The dust filters are good. The situation looks fantastic with the side panel off too. Sliding cover more than front panel ports is an elegant touch. Cable management is adequate. Very good quantity of room to operate on the inside. Sound deading foam is excellent, the situation is quiet. Mounting hardware and accomodation for 1 SSD out of the box. Cable managemnt cuold be greater. Challenging drive caddys ought to also have a spot for SSD mounting; but they dont. Back plate cutoout need to be a little larger. It would be nice if the side panels had a latching mechanism with a button to push. If you need a lot of drive bays this may not function for you. 90 motherboard is a Good notion and silverstone did a excellent job executing it.

Roomy for a situation of this style. I like the system board placement. HDD mounting is layed out well. Lots of sound dampening foam on the interior. More than enough room for anything such as 1 honking huge cooler. I wish there was just about a half inch more clearance behind the system board tray and the side of the case. Would have produced wire management a bit easier. the top two optical bays are usless if you are going SLI or Crossfire. Im sold on the 90 degree turn of the technique board. It tends to make the method look muche neater with the gfx cards vertical and also supplies much less tension on your PCIe sockets if you have some of the bigger heaver cards. I have 3 EVGA 280s on an evga x58 board in this case and have a lot of room. I also have a Megahalems CPU cooler with a 140 mm fan inside this case. Plenty of room!

This is THE case to get. I have had a number of. None will ever measure up to this bad boy. A lot of space. It can hold the greatest, baddest of something. Cable management inside is a breeze. Frame is super sturdy. Undercarriage vent makes it possible for to be set on carpet without having be concerned. Heat management is one of the prime considerations in this rig. Enormous fans and really uncomplicated access and attention to installation of liquid cooling, SSD, and power supply (even the power supplies that have the enormous fans). The fans even have screens to hold out dust. and the screens slide in and out for straightforward cleaning. The 3 primary fans on bottom draw air in and push it out an exhaust fan up top rated. The 3 intake fans have their own switches near the exhaust fan so that you can manage their speed. The situation disassembles and assembles with ease. SUPER QUIET. Certainly none.

This is the nicest situation I have ever worked with. The thing is sturdy! Love the 90 degree motherboard mounting. Positive air pressure design functions genuinely nicely. Has fantastic air flow without getting also loud. The aluminum exterior isn't standard brushed appear, but has a texture to it. Really high excellent. Images don't do it justice at all. The pricing is a bit high. Cable routing behind mobo tray is a bit tight, specifically with foam on the side panels. Would like to see a situation of this excellent come with at least two hot swap brackets. Cable routing is slightly tedious, but effectively worth it to see the final outcome. The case is quite lengthy. Had to cut out a section beneath my desk so I could push the case all the way underneath, lol. Can order added CP05 cables from Silverstone for added hot swap function if you like them.

The MB is rotated 90 degrees and all heat vents from the leading of the situation. The 180mm fans can be witched among complete and low speed with buttons at the prime of the case. The 180mm fan cables are well dressed but for some cause the 120mm fan at the best is not. Nice, Large, window offers wonderful view of pretty much all the inside of the case. Filters on fans is a excellent feature. The major challenge with this situation is the back does not enable quite a lot room for cables. This complicates every little thing unnecessarily. The HDD drive bays would have been better if they had been upside down - as it is the angled SATA cables will be point the wrong way (away from the course they need to have to go to get to the MB) and have to be bent back doubling the thickness in currently cramped space. Documentation for this situation is a thick book that says completely absolutely nothing. No joke. It's pointless. Why place the work and expense of producing such a useless document. Case came in with some poor paint work at the bottom of one particular side - newegg gave me ฟ discount for this blemish. They also presented to RMA but I was also eager to get developing the method. I have wanted this situation for about a year. Mainly simply because of the way it draws air in from the bottom making use of 3x 180mm fans and vents almost everything from the leading of the case. Air cooled hot cards like gtx580 benefit significantly from this layout IMHO. There is no turning of the airflow - comes in from the bottom and blows out the prime.

First points very first - this point is Awesome. The rotated motherboard just Tends to make SENSE (hot air rises, so cool intake in bottom). Fans are quiet and move lots of air. Love the separate air channel for the power supply.Filters on the bottom do an excellent job at trapping dust. Have currently cleaned them twice in the three weeks I've had the case - my residence is quite dusty regardless of continuous cleaning. Interior of case was nevertheless clean.Enjoy the cable management. Assists install look clean and specialist, as nicely as aiding in airflow.I don't comprehend how the I/O being at the best of the case can be a con. This permits for uncomplicated access! Only two cons I can think of is that it was larger than I expected, I had to be inventive with desk space.Other 1 is rather trivial - but I wish the power and hdd leds were red rather of blue. Oh well. Extremely heavy, but solid. I didn't have any complications with running cables behind the motherboard.Pc specs:SILVERSTONE Fortress Series FT02B-WEVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KRINTEL Core i7 Processor i7-930OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 1600COOLER MASTER V8 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler 2xEVGA nVidia GeForce GTS 250 1 GB 01G-P3-1158-TRWESTERN DIGITAL VelociRaptor 150GB 10000 RPM SATA - program HDDWESTERN DIGITAL WD10EACS-00D6B0 1GB - storageLG Blu-ray Disc Combo UH10LS20 SAMSUNG SyncMaster 2343BWX

Let me start out off, this case is a BEAST! It weighs alot coming out of the box which I'm OK with. Tells me the case was built sturdy. There is a lot of room to perform with as far as GPU's, CPU coolers, and cable management goes. The Tough Drives were too tight of a squeeze with all 4 rubber grommets on the tooless challenging drive bay, so I necessary to take two off per tricky drive. I tried out the hotswap tool and it worked fine, for a few days. Then my personal computer would not boot. Ruled it down to faulty connections on the Hot Swap factor. Not worried about it. The sound dampening foam is a nice function and does a pretty nice job of lowering the noise emitted from the case. There is a massive amount of airflow in the case which is amazing. The leading bezel can at times be a discomfort to yank off, but its the nature of the beast. Dust filters are great and block everything except the very fine particles. All in all, remarkable case. There are only a few Cons I have. One particular of them becoming one of the bottom 180mm fans. There is anything wonky with it so it refuses to work at the "High" setting and when switched to the "Low" setting takes awhile to essentially turn on, then goes fairly slow. I'll end up replacing the bottom three 180mm fans with Silverstone's 180mm AP181 fans. They are pretty expensive, but will be worth it with my two GTX 480's. A different gripe I have is the cables from the fans. I would have expected them to be sheathed but they had been not. I would have also expected the front panel connecting cables to be sheathed, but had been not. The only other complain I have is that my PSU cables will not reach all the way to the prime Optical Drive. Also, for the Best Optical drive, I Extremely recommend you purchase some 90 degree angle power and sata cables. Otherwise you are gambling on no matter if or not you break the connector. Purpose getting is that it juts out and is a tight fit against the housing for the Graphics cards output. All in all, awesome case. It is a true tank and I am happy I have it. Wish a few issues would perform proper, but I'll just obtain replacements. Oh, another point. This case WILL ACCEPT motherboard sizes UP TO 12 inches by 11 inches. Thats EATX sized. So for example, it will fit the EVGA X58 Classified, the ASUS Rampage II and Rampage III Extreme Motherboards. This is Extremely good because I will be shopping for a Rampage III Extreme this summer time. Manufacturer Response:Thank you really significantly for purchasing a SilverStone. Relating to a single of the 180mm fan not operating up to full speed, please double examine to turn off any fan speed or voltage control from your motherboard BIOS. The 180mm fan can only run complete speed if the power supplied is at 12V.

I wont go into all of the pros since I feel this case currently has fairly a reputation. I will say that this is very easily the finest case I've ever owned. Also some persons are saying that the side panels are thin or "cheap" but I dont see that at all. 1st con is I was surprised to see the best cover to be made of so significantly plastic. This is effortlessly the least expensive component of the complete case as far building goes, however it is not talked about typically. The back element of the cover obstructs the use of a nice heavy AC power cord such as the type that came with my HX850 PSU. It is possible to use this cord and nevertheless get the top on but its not a great fit and its not excellent. Not a massive problem but to me this is a big oversight given that there is no reason for the plastic to be so obstructive and in reality it is thicker at the back end than the front end which is entirely unnecessary. Cable management is fantastic but not good as in not enough locations to tie items off to. Receiving your cables cleaned up sufficient to get the side panel back on is quite time consuming and for me was the longest aspect of my construct. As others mentioned optical drives dont have considerably room. Difficult drive bays must be spaced out a bit additional. They are cramped, makes cabling them tough Paint chips off the corners of the side panels rather simply, take added care when removing/replacing them. Would have preferred the fan controls to be up front someplace accessible with the top cover on. Type of discomfort to have to get rid of the cover just to get to them. General I'm really pleased with this case but for 趚 there is surely some room for improvement, and yes I am picky.

Superb qualityLots of features None I have to say that this case was pretty awesome to perform with. I received it the other day and I couldn't have been a lot more impressed. I did have to take away 1 egg, because the hot swap bay has an "arm" on it, and the molex connector on mine had two pins come out of the housing. It's now impossible to use that hotswap bay until I replace or mod the part. But i moved one particular of the HDD's and routed those cables. So it wasn't that poor, just a minor annoyance genuinely. If I could have taken half an egg, that's what I would have carried out.Asus P6x58D mobo can be tricky - if you have huge hands like I do - you may possibly want to take the bottom fans out of the case to install SATA cables.Fits two Radeon 5870's devoid of matter. Again, excellent case.

Exceptional develop good quality and style. Great case layout and MoBo orientation. Silverstone really DID believe of everything right here on the FT02. Every single panel has sounde dampening foam installed and the fans are top notch with dedicated filters for every single one. The 120MM fan has blades that are pock marked like a golf ball to lessen drag and increse air flow. QUIET case!! A really little gripe...... for men and women with huge hands/fingers, it is a small bit tight when attempting to eliminate the side panel thumb-screws. They are pushed to the corners on leading of the case. No other concerns at all with this case. I purchased this case to replace my aging Coolermaster Wave case. The case was nonetheless functional but with currently's components acquiring bigger; it was time to move on. The case is greater priced than other people that are related but Nicely worth the additional cash. This case created my Wave case look low cost in comparison. Every thing on the FT02 is just performed the "right" way. Each aspect feels like it was accomplished the way you would have carried out it it you built it your self. It seriously says alot about a organization and the quantity of time thy devote in style stages when they put out goods like this. The case, style, construct, top quality, and capabilities are top notch!

In concept, this chassis really should present reasonable airflow, the big fans seem ideally able to supply a good deal of air circulation with low noise. There is an intake for the power provide from the outside and all of the intake fans all have dust screens that are not tough to clean (though the inner filters are not accessible with out removing the chassis covers). The chassis will accept a significant power supply (but note the concern I raise in "Other Thoughts"). This case arrived from Newegg undamaged in shipping and appeared to be as intended by the manufacturer. However the build excellent of this case leaves much to be desired especially in comparison to other chassis that are in the exact same price range. The chassis of the FT02 is rather flimsy, and there had been burs in some places. The painted metal parts and the many plastic portions do not match nicely. The location behind the motherboard mounting panel intended to be utilised route cables is not adequate for the purpose. The fan wiring is rather sloppy. The fans can be run at one of three constant speeds. At the lowest speed the fans are ineffective and noisy at the greater speeds. The fans would want to be replaced and will require supplementation with a fan controller. Yet another unfortunate aspect of the design is that there is really small space given to the external drive bays. Overall, the chassis the chassis falls far short of the expectations set by the advertising hyperbole and not very innovative. One other issue with this style is that if it is applied as evidently intended, with a full complement of 3 graphics cards, a large power supply and a significant heat sink, all of the weight will be close to the best so the installed chassis will be best heavy and prone to tipping. Because all of the cables are at the top rated of the chassis, undue tugs on the cables (something that very easily occurs) might trigger the chassis to tip. If the chassis falls it will most likely deform. It would be dangerous to put such a method on a desk.Do your homework ahead of you obtain this chassis. I strongly advise that download the item manual (take notice of the quite a few caveats relating to the fitment of external drive bay components). By all signifies attempt to see a sample prior to you acquire. There have been few innovations in Pc packaging, all follow the same program as the first. A mobo with cards, card with connectors that have to be attached to the back of the chassis for support. Many mobo's can be fit into an original

1st off, this thing is Massive, program on having a quite large quite heavy case! But I adore it! the 180mm fans at the bottom are Enormous! This factor is quieter than I could have ever imagined! The spacing for wires and just for the common layout is incredible, no dilemma putting something in! The dust filters work superior than any I've ever noticed and they don't compromise air flow. The amount of dust I clean out weekly is crazy! and my desk area and space are CLEAN! the price is a bit steep, I was debating between this and the CM Storm Scout and ultimately went with this. If you have the dollars get this case if not then maybe it's not for you. Also side clear panel is quickly scratched up. Absolutely not for your LAN nights! This really is a fantastic case, I mean what additional could you ask for. The Screw-much less style makes issues a snap to install in particular hard drives. They even included a mounting plate for solid state drives, which worked flawlessly with my OCZ Agility two 60GB SSD. Here are some of the crucial attributes of this case that truly made a difference and truly created me happy to own it. 1. Flawless design in looks, and performance 2. Lots of space to work on the inside, not when did I ever fill cramped or deprived of space. 3. Wonderful airflow, I have never observed greater airflow in a case, the three 180mm intake fans on the bottom (with dust filters included) are quiet and cover the entire length of the case. Creating airflow the most effective I have ever knowledgeable in a case4. Rotating the mobo 90° clockwise makes the airflow very easily pass the cards and hardware. As hot or warm air tends to rise, this is the best solution I have ever observed. Pros Continuedɉ. Acoustic dampening material also makes this case even quieter. 6. There are cable management holes included to make cable management simple. Which will boost the airflow efficiency, and will make your pc appear Amazing. The only con I have is the “hot swap” bracket in the back did not line up with my 300G Raptor. I have the H50 water cooling, the only challenge was is the radiator is 120mm. Easy enough I removed 1 of the 180mm fans, mounted the radiator to the bracket(which have 120mm mounting holes in the bracket) that sits between the 180mm fan and the filter…yeah I’m down 1 180mm Fan but the 120 is nonetheless filtered. Roomy. Motherboard connections facing up make it effortless to connect/reconnect every little thing. Simple to assemble everything. Instruction manual that comes with this Silverstone is typically horrible. (This is my second Silverstone case.) Why is it so hard to put together a halfway decent manual?Only two front USB connections from one connector. (My Gigabyte motherboard has two USB connections, so I could have an additional two front USB's if the case supported it. Maybe there's an accessory I can get? Require to investigation...) Up facing connectors on motherboard and external SATA connectors may be a issue since connections are unprotected from collecting whatever falls in them. (FOD collector for those that comprehend the term.)Not thrilled with clear side panel. (Personal preference.)Power supply exhaust fan is partially blocked by case due to mounting location. (Cooler Master 600W). Doesn't appear to have any negative effect, so this is a minor complaint.

As you've noticed in other reviews, do watch the length of the optical drives... if too long and they'll physically bind against the motherboard. It's a huge case; however, it is smaller and lighter than the [Dell XPS-720H2C] case that is replacing. The monster air cooler I'm making use of really fits with space to spare. Although already large, it could have been one more threeǚ" deeper (front to back) to allow for longer optical drives/room for straight SATA cables. The energy leads for bottom fans are all the very same length, requiring the excess to be gathered - ideally the style would have them all terminate in close proximity to each other for cleaner connection to the power provide (that's a pretty minor nit). Wireless devices (USB & PCI cards) wind up having their antennas shouded by metal case and wire mesh screen.. that needed me to add external antennas or USB extension cables to move them outside of enclosed location in order to improve signals. This isn't your standard "throw stuff in a case" develop... in the finish I identified that following I'd spent some time working on it and later re-ordering / replacing a couple of components (BluRay drive, PCI wireless A/G/N adaptor, USB left and right angle SATA cables) , I was seriously incredibly satisfied with the build.
