Comment:
Properly, I thought it was a excellent item notion. I needed an internal header for a three.five front bay replacement that had a 9 pin (actually, I feel they are known as 10 pin or 2x5 and one pin is missing for orientation). Seriously I didn't require the additional external port, but whatever. It does not get recognized by my mac G4 AGP operating ten.four.11, so I can't use it. Effectively, I'm on a mac g4 AGP (the blueish one particular with the speaker in the front) running 10.four.11 and I wanted to replace the zip drive with one thing essentially valuable. I bought an internal card reader factor and necessary an internal 9 pin header, properly, it would not get recognized by my mac (checked "about this mac" and it didn't ever come up). I read that the card was finickey and may function on a various port, but because the internal header is facing perpendicular to the card, I can only place it in one particular spot (I have two graphics cards in there so I have no additional space). I am bummed. The MoBo in the G4 doesn't have an internal header, just an internal firewire port. Not certain what I am going to do subsequent. It was low-cost anyway. Oh, and so I was going to return it to NewEgg so I requested an RMA and they credited my account and told me to hold the card. I Guess restocking fee is not worth the price tag ofthe card. Yay NewEgg. Outstanding customer service. Manufacturer Response:Dear Client, Thank you for purchasing our products. Please verify if your internal card reader demands a USB 9-pin header or Firewire 9-pin header. If you have a USB internal card reader, it does not function with the internal Firewire header on this card.We attempt to offer the most trustworthy products to our customer and all our products come with at least three years warranty. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us at support-us@syba.com for replacement or if you have any question.Regards,Syba Client Service 1029

Only way to make use of a front panel 1394 connection. External connector requirements to be located further up a fraction. It hits the capacitors on a Biostar MATX M/Board. This signifies it will not fit in the bottom PCI slot. I have purchased a couple of of these items. Wish I couldlocate 1 with more outlets.

Supports internal 9-pin IEEE 1394 connection for front panel firewire. Functions effectively with GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L motherboard. Gave plug-n-play outcomes, and has been working well for various months. None. Needed an internal 9-pin IEEE 1394 connection for front panel firewire, and this card was best.

Comment:
None This card is really finicky. It only functions in One of my PCI slots no matter what other cards are installed in the machine. Unfortunately, the header is mounted in such a way that it blocks the next slot. (I purchased the card specifically for the internal 1394 header.) My motherboard, Biostar TForce 6100-939, only has two PCI slots. This card will only perform in slot ş. It blocks slot Š with the internal 1394 header. I require my raid card so I'm pretty substantially out of luck. It's not worth returning right after shipping, restock fee, and so forth. The Via chipset that this card uses is recognized for being picky about slot and PCI chipset. Do some internet searches for "VIA 1394." I believed that PCI slot problems like this were a factor of the past. I guess not!

Adds a firewire portMakes that front panel connector useful Not enough firewire ports... I guess. lolTakes away a useful pci slot Tends to make your pc case complete if you don't have onboard firewire. It's just a shame it 'wastes' a pci slot. I could have used that for a tv tuner or sound card. Oh well.

Simple to install - works with no difficulties. The 9-pin internal header connects simply to my case's firewire front panel port connector. None If your MB doesn't have firewire, and your case has a firewire front panel port, then this is your man.

Header for front panel firewire This did not function for me in my Vista X64 Computer. It recognized my FireWire external DVD burner and would show the directory for the disk but if I tried to copy from the disk, I would get errors that there had been insufficient resources - and this on a Vista X64 dual quad-core Xeons with 8GB of RAM and a lot more than a terabyte of totally free disk space. The drive operates fine on my other Vista Computer that has the firewire built into the Intel motherboard. I'm just disappointed it didn't perform. I need to have the firewire DVD drive to work since this dual Xeon machine is loud so I preserve it in my pantry-turned-data-center and was hoping for the firewire drive to keep me from having to walk into the other room all the time - I punched a hole in the wall and ran audio/video/keyboard/mouse/usb/firewire/network cables from the pantry to my office. The drive functions on the USB from the Pc but not the Firewire. I just didn't want to tie up the USB capacity on the drive but I can live with it.

Wonderful cost, efficiency, and design. I bought this card just for the internal header since my motherboard does not have one particular. I wanted to use the firewire jack on the best of my Antec 900 case. Operates exactly as expected. It's not free of charge The firewire internal cable length on the antec 900 case is just lengthy sufficient to go via the back of the case and come up by way of the PSU cut-out slot and attach to the header if you place the card in the bottom PSU slot. My motherboard is a gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l but really should be the identical on any motherboard.

Operates great for my program, I just necessary internal Firewall connector pins, my case had one front port. and my systems mobo did not have a single. Its my parents old dell dimenstion 8300 I through into a new case to use as a HTPC, I built a new method for my parents and they gave me there old 1. Only necessary the internal, not external, but nevertheless could have additional internal. Nitpicking, not worth subtracting a egg.

Only card that I found that has both external port and internal pin header. Perfectly connects to my IO-FPM520 multi card / port front panel IEEE 1394a cable/pin header connector. Functions in PCCHIPS P23G V1. mobo. Verified that the pin header faces the subsequent PCI board and not up parallel to the card. Wires on pin header connector are a tight fit with the adjacent PCI card, but ... it operates! The manual has two images: Ƒ) of a two port external / 1 port internal and ƒ) of a 3 port external / 1 port internal. There is no picture that has an internal pin header, although that is what this unit is Ƒ external and 1 internal pin header).

Has 1 external FW port and 1 internal FW port using a regular motherboard header connector, appropriate for use with circumstances with front FW ports, and so on. Worked fine straight out of the box below XP SP3. None I've encountered so far. For this value, if it functions, you ought to be content.

Terrific Card, I installed it in my Pc because my case has a firewire port and I hste unconnected ports on my ComputerThis a single cought my eye since of the 9 pin header on the card. The engineers at SYBA have to be geniuses becuase they realized there is no use for an external port inside the case. WIndows Vista house premium recognized the card and set it up on initially boot. Plugged in my external hard drive and it works like a charm. Excellent value Only two ports is not a con for me right after all how several external gadgets you gonna hook up. A single on the front of the case and the a single on the back meets my requirements. Though this card may possibly not be listed as vista compatable it is working fine on my P35 Mobo with Vista Residence Premium.. Some have had problems with this card but preserve in thoughts some items like cameras will need their own driver to use this card in addition to the windows 1394 driver. if you have issues look at updating your items driver initial prior to throwing in the towel.

this is terrific if u got a mobo with out a 1394 hub to connect your front pannel to because it supplies a internal header to do so. all i had to do is plug it in and away i went no brainer it would be a outstanding card if they would have the header point off the back of the card or side so it doesnt interfer wit other pci instalations properly get this it functions with out a hitch the shipping a little spendy but i got a 10 ft hdmi cable with it to make shipping far more worth although

I researched and identified that this card and GX940 are what I want to make it function. Not a laptop guy I am, but i was able to open the personal computer ( for the 1st time), connect the card to the cable, plug it into the PCI slot, plug the other finish of the cable into the pc slot... in 10 minutes. Turn on the pc and it works. Wa!

Internal 9-pin header, no drivers necessary in Vista If you need to use the internal header location the card in the last PCI slot. Horizontal placement of the header can run into any cards beneath this 1. A vertical internal header would be nice.

Works fine with my Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3. Plugged it in, WinXP located the drivers and off we went. As for the internal pins, for hooking it into a case, why the heck are we still stuck plugging in 9 tiny little separate pins? Shouldn't a new common come out already so its just 1 straightforward plug=) Quite basic instructions, but it is plug & play. There not considerably to it. The names of the internal pins on the Firewire cable inside the case didn't specifically match up with the instructions for the card. 4 of the pins were all named the identical so it was a toss up, but I guessed proper=)

I didn't even have to go by way of the "add new hardware" procedure to make it function in XP. I was afraid Windows did not detect it simply because there were no prompts upon rebooting following install. Then I plugged my external HD into it and the HD was instantly detected. If you are reading this you most likely already know that Newegg is king! Mine did not come with a driver disk. This was not a difficulty for me, as I am operating XP but could be a issue for others. This was THE ONLY add-on-card I could find that has an internal pin-header so that I could finally make use of the 1394a port on the front of my case. Works with no a hitch!

The only firewire card I've observed that provides motherboard pins for case firewire port use. Only one external port I bought this card based on other Newegg evaluations and am content to report it functions properly. My motherboard didn't come with the pins necessary to get my case 1394 port operating. This card comes with the appropriate pins necessary to make the firewire port on your case perform. The only downside is that there is only one external port. That's all I needed anyway. On XP, no particular drivers had been needed.
