Looks extremely nice thought it would work out ok It wouldnt perform with a 4gb transcend 120x. CF Card succesfuly formats in xp with a sandisk usb reader. Utilized in a single computer system pcchips board and it would read boot disk error soon after about five minutes of a blank screen slowed pc way down as if it had been causing erros on the ide bus woudnt post by itself. tried with yet another operating harddrive with xp on similar machine wouldnt post place in another motherboard with identical harddrive succesfuly booted into window and pc bluescreend and turned off. 90 percent certain i got the bad one out of the batch. seeking at the circuit i could see exactly where it was shorted and the black coating had exposed traces

cost is a winner - worked without incident unfavorable reviewers complaining about speed - its a cf card not an ssd - coupled with the cf card, I spent a total of 22$ for a low power, quiet, bootable device without having the mess of ribbon cables - I've in no way booted or ran off of removable media that was not slow by comparison to standard challenging drives - it's like complaining that your moped isnt as quick as a harley and faulting the moped manufacturer for it. I'm not certain about all the fuss with pio or udma modes and all that jazz. I used this to run a smoothwall box on a dated computer laying around. Neither the bios or smoothwall had any complications with this device. I would get this device again. I would recomend this device to friends. I used this with a Kingston cf card. I had no issues with either.

Plugged it in and it functions... Windows 98SE on a 1GB CF card in an old 800MHz Celeron unit for a simple jukebox setup... sweet! For the value, I can't see any. Had the ribbon-cable attached version currently and it worked flawlessly. Switched to this since I wanted to keep anything in my case neat and tidy. I prefer the direct-insertion mode model for appliances (NAS, Router, Firewall, and so on.)

Worked No DMA, so not bootable with some OS's I attempted to use FreeNAS with this and it will not operate with no killing the DMA prior to booting (Set hw.ata.ata_dmaɢ in /boot/loader.conf) and that also kills write and study overall performance to all drives. I consider you can reactivate it immediately after booting (set it ɣ) but I am not confident, I ended up working with a USB drive to boot FreeNAS.

No complications. Going to use it for my Linux (obviously) /boot partition on an NAS server. An older motherboard (Late 1999) I tried it on didn't seem to assume it was bootable in the BIOS (wouldn't let me pick it in the Boot Order menu), despite the fact that it was detected as a tough drive. Unable to verify rumors of a 1GB capacity limit, even though SYBA says absolutely nothing about any limitations on size.
