Works well...

This card does what it is designed to do. Very easy install, and I sacrificed no discernible speed. I have an IDE HD that I had no port for with my new mobo, so I had to get this to get my data. Worth it.

I had to do a little configuring in BIOS in order to use it, didn't like how I HAD to put my boot drive into it to get back into Windows, but it worked flawlessly after I moved a couple drives around. Very good product for the money, now I'm able to use my older PATA drives for my files again.

Bought this card. and the install was flawless. Sees all drives and runs like a top. I see others having problems and I think it has to do with the BIOS. Since the 1TB drives are becoming more affordable, I will be changing out the older ones to the new sata. New board has 9 sata slots. Cant wait to have 10TB!!

Needed more drive space for multiple OS on an Asus M2A-VM motherboard which only has one IDE controller bus, and had multiple IDE 20 Gig hard drives I wanted to use. Hooked everything up like the directions said and I saw all the drives. I have two drives set up as a striped set, and all is working fine.

I installed card in old supped up Penti 1 to act as a back up server. Install went easy the cards bios boot came up saw the 2 hdd i had installed to it but was unable to format an put the drives online. So i put on 2 optical drives which the card sees an so does windows even goes as far as ejecting the tray through right clicking an ejecting. But put in a cd or dvd an try an read it machine freezes an have to power out!!!! NOW THIS IS THE REAL KICK IN THE OLE BUM ... contact sabrent tech support they send me back an email asking me if i installed the the drivers for the optical drives!!!! Like DUHHHHH they are windows friendly an don't need any!! I responded that the drives were already installed an running before being put to their card ... have not heard back

Installation isn't as easy as it looks, but once you know what your doing, it Installs and works great. But I only had the card 2 months and XP became unstable with it, and then refuses to reboot with it mounted in the system... Reformated, and used Win95/98 and the card works, But again, XP still refuses to work with it.

I am a true techie and a very patient person. This is the worst piece of junk I have ever worked with. I have had this in three PCs. The XP machine could never install the driver it hung the system. The Windows Vista PC found the card and then loaded the drivers for it and never found any devices on it. The third unit is a Running Windows 2003 server. This is the first system the card showed up in BIOS. The server searched the CD and them went to Windows update and installed the driver. Again although I see devices in BIOS none are shown in Windows. Device manager on the last two attempts showed the controller installed and in a normal state.

so far it doesn't work. seems to install ok but doesn't talk to the hard drive. Win2kSP4 does not assign a drive letter. driver CD does not contain the 680 file the instructions say should be used with EIDE---only contains 680RAID--and I can't browse the CD--either automatic or nothing. Debating whether to junk it.

I don't know what kind of operating system the guys who said this card wouldn't work with their optical drives, but I am running XP Pro. I was skeptical for a $20 card especially after reading their reviews. Received the card today and it is working perfectly after installing the driver on the cd that was sent with it. Buy with confidence!

The card took some time to cofiguring with my motherboard. Now it works great. I have it currently running in raid 0 on two 120gig drives. I will set up a 0+1 soon. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Well, I tried two of these cards and both of them had problems. I was simply using the card as an IDE interface and using Windows Server 2003 to run a software RAID-5. The first card would mark any drive connected to the secondary of port 1 as a bad drive. The second card did the same with any drive on the primary of port 0. Replaced with a Promise brand card @ $20 more and all is well.

I've used 2 or 3 of these - when they are working, all is great -- you get a fast, cheap RAID. BUT - the documentation stinks – it’s practically non-existent & very confusing. The setup-software that you boot into at startup is even more confusing. Once 1 of these cards copied a 250 gig empty drive onto my full one instead of the other way around & I lost 3 years worth of video. I assume it was my fault, but since the settings are so confusing it’s not surprising it happened. Another major problem I’ve had (on 3 machines) is that after the RAID is working, if you add or disconnect any drive on the system or add a new one (on or off the card) the system boots from the RAID card first. If your boot drive is not on there, you get a disk not found error. After hours of plugging/unplugging drive in some mysterious order everything works again. This is a seriously annoying/time consuming issue to fix. At some point you have to wonder what your time is worth vs the cost of cheap card.

Great Product for $20 I had it in my PC and up and running within 15 minutes of receiving it. Worked great right out of the package. If you have an older PC that won't read above 137GB get this card!

Dont install it on an Acer machine. It's incompatible and won't work at all. Well, actually it's good for one thing, erasing all hard drives connected to it. That's about all it did for me, other than really making me frustrated and angry. After following the instructions on the cd-rom, the driver seemed to install just fine, but after hooking up the hard drives and booting up, the computer appeared to be locked up during boot. The phrase ''Press F3 to enter Raid Program'' came up, and while I waited for something to happen, it went ahead and erased the hard drives without any warning or message it was doing so. Use at your own risk!

Reviewed by tom I couldnt get it to work in a dell 8200.. spent 2 hours messing with it.. so cheap not worth the shipping to send it back...... >>Tsk tsk! Tom Tom.... nothing works on a dell lolll . And to anyone with a decent PC, think of those when you build yourself a backup pc. Imagine 7 hard drives and a CD drive in a single PC with only one of those cards, let me tell you it's worth the few bucks not to loose all your precious data to a !@#%$& virus.
