Recieved it with a bad power cable. contacted tigerdirect customer support and was told to contact sabrent. Sabrent took over two weeks to respond to the initial email and once they agreed to send me a new enclosure i ended up waiting for over six months with nothing. I gave up on waiting and have moved on.

Piece of garbage. Right out of the box the power cord had a loose connection. Worked fine for about 10 minutes and then I continually get ''Disk Write Errors''. The only solution is to turn the unit off and start the cycle over again. Save yourself a headache and DON'T BUY IT!

Nice enclosure, work great. The only problem I had was that the power cord was too cheap and failed. Since it's the same power cord as a computer, I just replaced it with an other and now it's working great. Running 24h a day, 7 days a week.

I own a couple SABRENT USB2.0 enclosure before. Both failed on power plug (I am not sure it is the power supply). I replace one under warranty, it still failed out of warranty. I told myself I am not going to buy their products ever.

Maybe not the best instructions I've ever seen, but if you're familiar with hard drives, USB devices, and your Operating System, you won't need to refer to the instructions at all. Easy assembly and setup. Good quality construction except the sides are a little loose (causes slight rattle when transporting), and it performs as you'd expect at USB 2.0 speed. Parts alignment is tight and your hard drive will be a snug fit. Be careful with the cable routing and avoid cross-threading the screws, and you'll have no problems at all. This is a great value for under $30.

Works GREAT!! Serial and IDE in one device is great. Can read up to 1TB which helps out. Note if you put a new hard drive into it you have to go into drive managment with Windows and enable it as well as let Windows format the drive. Also power cord is a little short. All in all great device.

The unit does not perform as advertized. The design is so poor it fails to provide adequate room for cable connections. The device powered up but failed to provide a visible drive regardless of the computer or OS used. Save your money and buy something else.

This is a fabulous drive. The SATA and PATA in one box is quite convenient. It is the best drive except for one critical point. THE POWER SUPPLY WILL FAIL ON OR BEFORE (hopefully) YOUR ONE YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. I own three and we have another three at work, all but one have failed within a month out of warranty. The drive is the best I have found but the power supply is crap. In it's defense, the one that has not failed is the black model. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

This thing arrived falling apart but at least it worked. It was moving around inside the box it got delivered in and one of the holes used for the screws to hold it together wouldn't hold. Ended up I had to tighten them all really well to get the thing to stay together. Within weeks I found myself at the hardware store buying new nuts and bolts to keep it together. Now the power cord is cracking exposing the inner wires.....UGH!!!

Easy to put together,SATA HDD and works. Good case design. Bought 3 for eval. for work. Plug in 2, worked good...for a month. Both enclosure looses connection for no reason - need to unplug and replug USB. And 1 of them, the powerbrick no longer works now. 3rd new one, plugged in - DOA - no power on powerbrick too. Trying to replace all 3 now - return/exchange.

Basic box, I like having an on/off switch on the unit. Doesn't have a fan, which would be a plus. My unit came with the external power converter DOA, but was easily replaced after a call to Tiger. Not a cadillac, but it seems fairly speedy on data transfer, which is the main reason I bought it. All in all, a decent unit.

Well it works... most of the time. Every 24 hours or so my computer loses contact with it and I have to reset it. But, like I said it'll do what you want it to most of the time. I was actually quite stunned how cheap and flimsey this enclosure is. It can litterally fall apart at a touch.

I bought 2 of these. They're great. One warning: there are no instructions. But it's pretty easy to figure out if you've done this kind of thing before.

I was all ready with my screwdriver, and realized upon opening the box that no tools were necessary. Nice surprise! SATA plugs are installed, but IDE set is packed in the box. My drive is IDE, so just removed the SATA and popped in the others. You're given a choice of power connections on the board, depending upon the location of the inputs on your drive. The IDE ribbon is the deciding factor, since the length of the ribbon provided dictates that the connectors be in line. Be careful to line up pin #1! Four thumbscrews attach the drive firmly to the bottom of the case from the outside. Similar screws fasten the case together. Don't completely tighten any screw until all four have been seated. Alignment will be easier, and no risk of stripping out screw threads this way, either. Supplied USB cable is quite short - you may want to replace it with a longer one. The power brick & cable are substantial, with a 3-prong outlet plug.

Awesome product. Looks kewl. Love the power switch. I like the switch on the back of the device. Very light. Easy to assemble. I bought a few and given a few away to needy people that lose their computers as a way for them to be self sufficient on retrieving their own data.

The problem with this enclosure is that the company has ''upgraded'' the design at least 3 times in the past 9 months. Each time, they seem to get a little better (non-removable side rails, better internal connections, better power brick, etc.) but you cannot always, for instance, use the power brick that comes with one with another. There is no real way (unless you have gotten all the different versions) to tell from the packaging or the part number which version you are getting. I have about 30 of these that we use for backups at my company, so it would be nice to have all of them the ''same'' for compatibility's sake. All in all, however, they do a good job at what they are supposed to do, and unless you get several over a period of time, you would not know the differences, anyway.

Based on reviews I really thought this was a waste of money. WRONG!!!!. It took me less than 10 minutes to assemble and there was no difficulty making the connections to the SATA drive. The extra cables are easily disconnected and don't interfere with the function of the enclosure. I would recommend this to anyone if they needed it, especially for the price. Good job Tiger and thanks.

Great product overall, it did take a little effort to fit my 3.5 inch hard drive into the enclosure. I had a lightening strike which fried my motherboard on my computer, so I was interested in transferring the data and getting an external storage device at the same time. I had to take off the hard drive's mounting hardware and then it fit pretty well. Also had to fold the additional unused ide cabling out of the way. The wiring for the LED light was also an interference, it should be moved farther to the side of the enclosure or utilize a ''ribbon'' conductor of some sort to minimize this. The kit came with some screws that I was able to use to secure the hard drive in place in the bottom, the slots in the bottom of the enclosure lined up perfectly with the tapped holes in the bottom of my hard drive, in about 10 minutes I was up and running, no issues. No rattling problems, no flimsy side problems.

I have 5 of these enclosures and they work well. All of mine have had the hdd mounting screws included. The design is simple and sturdy. No problems with Win2K or XP recognizing the drives. I have had none of the problems with installation some other reviews have mentioned. I've found short pieces of tubing which just slide over the thumb screws will allow these units to be stacked very securely with plenty of ventilation. 4 stars instead of 5 because I think the power switch should be on the front of the enclosure, not the back.

I really like the 3.5. Only thing is it should've been made a little longer cos my harddrive is tight against the LED light wire, and the other SATA wires/cables that are not in use get in the way, but no major problem. The side walls are not flimsy as another buyer wrote. They stay where they are; very tight to the front/back walls. Very good product & a great price. I bought a Sabrent 2.5 also, but haven't used it yet.
