Scythe SY124020L Case Fan
Comment:
Whisper quiet. I appreciate the truth that it has a two pin and 3 pin connector (adapter) result in the 2 pin connector fits right into a video card. I rigged mine up by attaching the fan to the heatsink working with some epoxy and threw the original noisy fan out. Performs flawlessly. none. Comes with four mounting screws and an adapter to turn two pin connector to 3 pin connector.

Comment:
Moves a ton of air considering its size. I have 2 other 40mm fans that sound like buzzsaws, this tiny factor is practically inaudible. Can be applied to older GPUs as fan considering that it has connector. Accompanying screws are not the ideal for this fan. Excessive packaging. Utilised this fan on thermaltake spirit II NB cooler rather of stock fan. Fan is thicker than typical 40mm fans.

quiet sufficient. "good adequate" airflow. I wish it was quieter and pushed far more air... but it's truly a limitation of the fan size itself. I applied this as a replacement to a louder cpu fan for a by way of computer-1 2500E mobo/cpu/gpu platform. It keeps it cool sufficient and quieter. A definate improvement from the stock fan.

It is low value and does not make alot of noise.Comes with a 2 and 3 pin adapter Would be good if it included a few screws of various lengths/sizes but oh well I required a 40mm three pin fan for a heatsink on my 680i NorthBridge. This appears to be carrying out the job fine

This looks like a good fan, and it comes with the 3pin to two pin adapter so you can use either. There is no mention that this is a 20mm think fan. I was seeking for 10mm thickness. I am replacing a fan in a router so I am restricted to space. If you are not limited by space then this may function for you.

Scythe SY124020L Case Fan
Comment:
does push a lot of air like the others stated and quiet. i have no xtra buzzing/whirring noises, its incredibly quiet. included screws did not fit the mounting bracket for my mobo. it is a bit thick but i like that. my mobo, DX38BT, did not include things like a fan for it's North Bridge heatsink. it did, nonetheless, consist of a mount for a fan. the included screws did not fit that distinct mount so i had to use an additional set of screws and bolts from a Thermaltake case fan that i had purchased. lucky me they fit. the screws were a little lengthy and i had to push them into the heatsink, slight grindage, but no biggie.

Scythe SY124020L Case Fan

Really QuietLow power draw (< 1 watt)Decent air movement for its size (ӱ CFM)Works at five volts, too! (lower power draw, but much less air movement.)Very good price. None that I can feel of. Ran this fan in a Mini-ITX Atom 230 box for two years. Retired the box recently and took this small guy out wondering if it would perform in an electronics project exactly where I only had five volts accessible from the power supply. Confident enough, five volts was more than adequate to start off the fan blades spinning. Naturally, they spin slower than at 12 volts, but all I necessary was something to maintain just a small air movement in the project that I was operating on. Current draw was measured to be 30mA @ 5v Ɛ.15 watts) -- and the fan is ultra-silent, now!

Superior replacement fan. Quiet. 2-pin and 3-pin connectors. The included screws are a bit brief. The screw holes are counter sunk only on one side. If you need to use the screw on the opposite side of the counter sunk holes, you'll discover that the screws are too brief to use.

This fan packs very a punch, I bought it to cool down my motherboard north-bridge (DFI LP DK 790F-M2RS) which was operating really hot, of course I had to custom rig it but it works wonders. The fan is so quiet I had to make positive it was really operating. It also decreased my motherboard north-bridge temperature by 15°C !!! None Quiet, affordable and effective. This fan is best.

It moves air. It's loud. Has a extremely obnoxious whine to it. It will NOT be staying in my UPS and will soon be in the trash. I can deal with the sound of air getting moved but the fan itself has a distinct whine to it.

Can\'t hear the fan at all over the stock Core 2 Duo fan (the taller 1, not the low profile) running at 800RPM. For such a modest fan, it pushes far more air than I expected it to; undoubtedly exceeded my expectations in each airflow and noise. Can be powered by a two-pin connector, such as the ones identified on some video cards; although I wouldn't advise it if the card has automatic fan speed control. Also consists of four long screws to mount it to a heatsink and the adapter to use your typical 3-pin connection for energy. -- If you're looking to improve cooling on your northbridge or southbridge and don't want an annoying high-pitched buzzing fan spinning at some ridiculous RPM in your case, this is a excellent option. I'll absolutely buy this fan once more if I will need some thing small.

Extremely very quiet, moves enough air to keep hyperactive server northbridge quite cool without adding noise to system, comes with 2-three pin adapter...and the box is superb, straight outta hong kong none so far I purchased this mainly because i needed a 40mm fan for my tforce northbridge which was unbelievably hot (ie in fact brought on a little burn on my finger this summer, you can really feel the heat from inches away...there's no sensor on it to give a # though) and assumed i'd require a fan controller to keep it quiet, but it's definitely silent without one.

Cons: vibrates a lot

Pros: very quiet inside a case a metre away
Comment:
Got one of these to stick on my 8600GT's stock cooler since the stock fan died. Doesn't work wonders but keeps it cool enough for light gaming and everyday use. Not bad for $3.It vibrates a lot and can be quite loud up close though.

Bought this to replace the NB fan on my EVGA 750i SLI FTW and it works well. A little smaller than I thought but is working well at keeping it cool. Pros: Quiet and good cooling for a little fan

I bought 4 of these fans to swap the noisy fan in 2 Addonics (1X5.25 Bay to 4X2.5IN Drive Adapter - 4 Independent Hot Swap Drive Drawers W/ Switch) I purchased. Sounded like a jet taking off. I had to cut and solder the 2 pin connector but I'm glad I did. These little fans are fantastic. I tested with a dosimeter and they are 19 dBA. Definitely will buy these again

Cons: none

Pros: small, quiet, effective, and it comes with screws!!
Comment:
I have used these fans all over the place. It cools the northbridge, it cools cheap video card heat sinks, it cools the chip set, it even works great to cool a hard drive (just put some rubber feet on it and glue it to the top of the hard drive and you will be amazed how much cooler the HD is.I love these little fans, they are so useful I often buy 3 or 4 at a time when they go on sale.

This is a Nice little fan.I attached it to the northbridge of the EVGA X58 Classified (http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=38253) since it does not ship with a fan. Went on the northbridge fins of the heat pipe with supplied screws - could use an RPM sensor though

Comment:
Dropped my NB temps on my classified by a few degrees. Installation was a breeze with the holes already ther on the nb heatsink but unfortunately now i can't install anything in the pcie slot as this is blocking it. I don't think it's loud but can't tell since i have other fans that are louder inside my case.

Scythe SY124020L Case Fan
Cons:- ticking noise, not that loud but isn't a monotone sound- poor airflow- no rpm sensing

Pros:- cheap- thicker so should generate more air pressure
Comment:
Its a bargain quality 40mm fan. No rpm sensing is a disappointment and the copy I got is louder than expected. Has an uneven noise when running. Is cheap enough not to be bothered in sending it back but I would look for something else in the future (maybe I got a lemon?)

Scythe SY124020L Case Fan
Cons:Included screws are a bit short.

Pros:Quiet & small
Comment:
I originally got this to do a small mod on an old case, to move a little extra hot air out the back of the case, but ended up using a 60mm fan in that spot instead. While in the case, I noticed the mobo in there had a NB fan connector, so I ended up installing it on the NB instead. Although the NB has been fanless since day one, I figured since I had the fan, I may as well make use of it, and so far have been pleasantly surprised. I haven't checked temps at all, but any extra air movement is always a good thing, and although I expected a fan this small just might be one of those typical screamin' little fans, this one is actually very quiet. The one thing that's not great about this fan, is that the included screws seem a bit short, but fortunately, since there are 4 of them, they still hold the fan firmly in place. If you've got a NB heatsink that needs cooling, this seems like a pretty good option.

Scythe SY124020L Case Fan
Cons:-This fan is 20mm vs 10mm of other fans, may not fit into very tight spaces because of this, so make sure you check your clearance before buying it

Pros:-Small, can fit into most places...-Good CFM/Noise ratio-Comes with screws
Comment:
Bought this during a sale. Tried to mount it onto the Northbridge of the P6T Deluxe. Doesn't work since this fan is 20mm, it's tall for my Noctua Heatsink. Will have to try the regular version (10mm in height) which has lower CFM.

Scythe SY124020L Case Fan
Cons:- Doesn't cool all that much...

Pros:- Silent if you put it in a way that it won't cause vibrations- Cheap mostly after price-match
Comment:
I bought it to put just on top of my northbridge from my (DFI DK P35 T2RS) and I think temp have only lowered of 1C lol. It's not idling at 43 but it haves 1.47v instead of the stock 1.30v Also gotta note that I have 3 120mm + 2 92mm + 1 250mm on my side pannel so at some point adding more cooling doesn't help anymore.
