Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive
Cons:only 1 year warranty used to be 3 - 5 but honestly within 3 - 5 years if the hdd fails you buy a bigger, better, and more reliable one. There is no need to have a warranty outlast old technology.

Pros:Very large size for whats currently available for price.Incredibly fast for a mechanical drive I was pleasantly surprised at that.Very nice price when On sale.
Comment:
I am running two of these in a RAID 0 setting and getting average read and write speeds of 170MB/s per drive adding up to what seems to me like an impressive 350MB/sAssuming these drives hold out and don't fail within a couple years I will buy more when they go on a good sale.

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive
Cons:Warranty could be longer.

Pros:Massive capacity as of 2012 (people will lol at this 10 years from now), quite fast for a HDD.
Comment:
I bought this HDD to add movies to it. A 2TB WD Black is rapidly filling up so I need the extra room to copy my movie collection over. I'm very pleased with this drive and hope to use it for many years it the future.

Pros:Not noisy.
Comment:
The following is my failed experience. I had a Cavalry drive duplicater / retriever. So i duplicated my 2TB drive to this drive, thinking i could extend the partition afterwards. Nope, you cannot. So i had to delete  the partition and all the copied data. In order to see the full 3TB on this drive, You will need to boot from a separate disk, go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tool -> Computer Management -> drive management. delete  the partition (all data will be gone!!!), right click, set as GPT disk.

But 2 of these puppies. My PC won't recognize them, but thankfully, my trusty 1 year old Vantec Nexstar 2-bay dock does(1 drive at a time).Bought these to replace my 2x750TB WD green for my QNAP TS-41PII, but for some reason, the 2nd drive won't rebuild automatically. Occasional "chirping" sound, but doesn't bother me.

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive
Cons:Before purchasing this drive I asked NCIX technical help, Seagate and HP, but no one was able to provide any real help. The whole risk was totally left to me. I find this lack of support totally appalling.

Pros:I bought this HDD for my HP ProLiant ML330 G6 running Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2 (this does not have UEFI bios yet). After a lot of fiddling, I was able to make all 3TB (actually, only 2.7TB) usable. The key is not to use it as a boot drive. Even then when Windows Server installs, it somehow installs some partitions on this, but this leaves 740GB unaccessbile. The remedy is to use Windows Diskmanager to delete  all such partitions and then to convert it to a GPT disk. Then all 3TB is made available for formatting. I tested two Barracuda 3TB 7200rpm both in RAID 0 and RAID 1, both of which make the full capacity available.
Comment:
Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200rpm can be used in a server setting, but both NCIX and Seagate explicitly stated that they offer no warranty on the special usage I was planning for it. After my own testing, I can report that this HDD works at least for HP ProLiant ML330 G6 in a hotpuggable drive cage controlled by a RAID controller (mine is P410), though not in a non-hotpluggable drive cage.

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive
Cons:None

Pros:Large, Affordable
Comment:
I've used Seagate 2TB 'Green' drives, but this drive cost the same per TB, so I felt I'd get it to use less physical space in my machine. It's a 7200RPM drive, so it's faster than my 2TB Green drives and overall it's a great drive. At the current price point, it's probably the best value per TB and a welcome addition to my HTPC.

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive
Cons:1 yr warranty only

Pros:good value. Easy to install & setup under windows 7. BIOS & SATA3 addon card detect the drive no problem.
Comment:
it a very good value consider this large capacity drive. The real usable capacity is around 2.72TB under win7. No problem under win7 or BIOS setting. The only downside is the 1 yr warranty only. used to be 3yrs or 5yrs. So if you need a drive for backup or to save some unimportant files then that's the choice......got it for 150$ on the weekly sales.

Cons:Mediocre performance.

Pros:Good general purpose large storage drive.

Working like a charm so far, reasonable performance and great storage size for the price. I'm using this as my primary drive with an older Seagate 2TB as my data backup.

Cons:Bad Reliability, (2400 hour power on rating - 100 days x 24hours) Not meant for a 24/7 storage drive (Seagate tech advised)

Pros:Fastest 3tb Drive On The Market (As of april 2012)

I wish there was a Samsung F4 2tb I could buy from NCIX. I dont like buying online and NCIX doesnt carry it at this time.

Comment:
I just purchased this as I was running out of space in my system. It is large and should last me at least a bit. Popped it in and in about a minute had it formatted and ready to go in Win7 (2.72 TB reported). I am glad that it is on sale and prices are starting to come down but I wish prices would return to historical lows a little quicker. The thing that I really dislike is the one year warranty! The need for storage has pushed me to buy now but for the current price I think the single year warranty is really disappointing. Good drive so far but I hope I never need the missing years of warranty.

Seagate Barracuda 3TB 7200RPM SATA3 64MB Cache 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive
Cons:expensive, only fast for smaller files 50-200mb, cant be used as boot drive. (donno why anyone would use this as boot anyway, random read/write slow just like other harddrives)

Pros:great speed, currently the fastest 3.5inch storage hard drive in existence.(edit: for seq read/write, 512k read/write its even faster than the XT version)
Comment:
with crystal disk mark i get the following:seq read/write 160mb/sec and 150mb/sec512k read/write 100mb/sec and 140mb/sec4k random as well as 4kqd are both slow expected from a harddrive though. (using a crappy external enclosure.. which barely supports enough power, and usb 3.0)backing up files from size 50-200 mb are by far the fastest.copying from one drive to another drive (both barracuda 3tb) gets around 100-140 mb/secif you have a good enclosure that supports sata two speed, provides enough power as well as decent cooling, go for this as a storage drive, as long as drive doesnt fail on you =) This review was modfied by poster @ 02-12-12 05:01 AM
