Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3GB/S Hard Drive
Comment:
More quickly boot times and of course tons more space. It does not bother me, but does trigger a lot more vibration and "noise" then the factory 5200 rpm hdd. Straightforward install in mid-2010 Macbook Pro.

Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3GB/S Hard Drive
Comment:
Fastest 750GB laptop drive readily available. Fits perfect in my mid 2009 MacBook Pro that originally had a 250GB @ 5400RPM. Significantly additional cost-effective than any comparable SSD appropriate now. Plus quickly shipping and good packing from Newegg. None, only had it a week so time will tell. I have had excellent luck with Seagate in the past. My two 750GB FreeAgent externals still run good after a couple years. Also bought EXT ENCL ROSEWILL|RX81U-ES-25A external enclosure for พ.99 - what a bargain! I cloned the drive working with free of charge SuperDuper! software program which took a less than 2 hours. Getting an ex-PC individual, I watched a you tube video on how to swap memory and difficult drive (which I truly didn't want). Quickly swapped drives and upgraded RAM. Now I have a maxed out MBP with a 750GB HD @ 7200RPM with 8GB RAM and it couldn't have been simpler!!! Outside of finding a poor drive, I don't understand how people have troubles with these type of upgrades...

This is presently the ONLY 750GB 7200RPM offered to the public, and even though I am a Western Digital guy, I Need to have the capacity. I mean when you speak about laptops you don't have a lot of space to spare like in desktops and the capacity on this drive is good! Also utilizing it on PS3Also working with it in my laptops NONE

This is an update for my post of 1ቨ񳏋: I talked to the Seagate support. Even though they have the exact same policy as newegg with regards to writing on the label, they waived it this time and they agreed to replace the drive. It’s good to see a company taking care of their loyal buyers! n/a

Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3GB/S Hard Drive
Cons:Runs hot!

Pros:Fairly quiet - almost no seek thrashing noise. Solid performance. Reasonable price.
Comment:
I bought this because it's the biggest 9.5mm high 2.5" hard drive. It has worked well, and performed quite nicely. The one thing that surprised me was that this thing gets HOT! It is unpleasant to handle after it's been working hard, but perhaps that's par for many 7200 rpm drives.I am satisfied with the acoustics of this drive as well. It makes some subtle spindle noise, but it is not an unpleasant noise. The seek noise is super quiet, and almost can't be heard over the spindle noise.

Seagate Momentus ST9750420AS 750GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3GB/S Hard Drive
Cons: Nothing unexpected so far.

Pros: Fast and quiet. It's the biggest 7200 rpm 2.5" drive with the 'standard' 9.5 mm height.
Comment:
I picked this over the 12.5 mm 1TB 5400 rpm drives to be used in an external enclosure. The 'standard' height and the high speed were the main deciding factors. I'm very satisfied with the speed and size.Seagate's ST9750420AS is biggest 'standard' height (9.5 mm) 2.5" SATA drive that spins at 7200 rpm in the market at the time this review is written. It runs quietly and fast. It also runs hot and has higher power-consumption than most 5400 rpm drives, which is expected.
