Pretty Rapid. Utilised in AMD 9850 based system. MSI 785gtm-e45 mobo recognized, Win 7 installed no hitches. Quiet. None Chose for reliability aspect. Do not want to have to service the machines I make for others unless important.

Exceptional tough drive. I use this as my OS drive and a WD 1.5TB as my information drive. No hiccups, runs cool, quite smooth. the bag the drive comes in tastes like plastic. No challenges whatsoever with this drive. I've only owned Western Digital drives for the past 15 years, and my loyalty to the business will never ever modify. Keep up the great operate!

Worked on a sytem for a pal - HD was toast - looked up the "service tag" information on Dells web site - discovered what they applied in the program (i also had the old HD for that info)..got this because the Cache: 32MB - critiques have been excellent.. and Dell makes use of WD, so no worries with odd concerns and the hardware would be the similar.. this hooked up Great.. no concerns.. loved it -- less then Tiger direct.. saved some $ on getting the "bare" drive.Hooked this up hate the dell case -- but that has practically nothing to do with the HD.. No cons on this however!

Barely warm to the touch after heavy activity. I works, it is quiet, never ever had a challenge with WD drives a small slow perhaps guess I can't rag on the speed after all if I wanted quickly I could have gone SSD. I wanted a Samsung but they had been out so I went with WD as my fall back

Sophisticated technology.Runs cool and quiet. None so far. I bought it as a "small" drive to place an OS on. Its random access speed is noticeably slower than that of my prior Deskstar drive. Which hardly matters, if you place the swap file on a more quickly drive.Props to NewEgg for speedy delivery.

Functions fantastic in my external enclosures. quickly, quiet, and hot swappable. none so far I have two of these in external enclosures. We use them to backup all our essential data/pics/vids. We keep 1 is the protected deposit box and one particular at home. About as soon as a month we do a backup and swap them. Functions wonderful.

This is a really fast tough drive. It is quiet and an all round good challenging drive. I had to return the first a single I bought since it failed right after 6 hours. The second a single I got as not failed soon after more than a month of use. The very first a single have to have basically been defective. I would have gave it 5 eggs but due to the fact I had to go through the hassle of returning the first 1 which was defective. I felt it did not warrant five eggs.

Wonderful price tag for some excellent hardware. These drives (I bought four) run incredibly cool, and are extremely quiet as well. Not genuinely a con, but the packaging. Keep in mind, that this is a BARE DRIVE and doesn't contain right packaging other than the antistatic bags, and no documentation either (not that it's necessary). The four I ordered were in a styrofoam caddy surrounded in bubble wrap and styrofoam popcorn. I picked up 4 of these drives to max-out an old Iomega® Desktop Tough Drive XL Series to 2TB. That drive defaults to a RAID0, so I'm hoping I won't have to use Western Digital's three year limited warranty.

Really Quiet, and Good Boot up time, No issues to speak of. Seems to manage a number of virtual machines at the identical time, as that is what i bought it for. None I can feel of at the moment.

32 mg cache. I was running 2 of these in raid1 mirror in an AMD based technique, win 7 pro. 1 drive failed and wrecked my raid set-up. I was fortunate to have backed up my disk image with Acronis just one week prior and was able to restore that image to the remaining working drive. I will rma the poor one back to WD and attempt once again. If I endure another failure, I will switch back to Seagate. I ran a raid1 mirror on my earlier method for two.5 years w/out a single hiccup. Would like that again.

This HDD was a replacement for my father's older 160GB WD HDD that he had for years. This drive is quicker, has more than 3X's the space, and is considerably quieter than his earlier 160GB drive. When I installed it for my father, I had to double verify just to make sure it was plugged into the PSU when I powered it up due to the fact I couldn't hear it. Also, the HDD activity is silent. You can't hear a thing. I'm now utilizing my father's noisy 160GB HDD in my technique after I got him this 500GB HDD... That's not seriously a con against this drive though. The drive rates at a five.9 below Windows 7 if some of you are just asking yourself. I will Hugely advocate an HDD like this for someone who is on a budget or just want far more storage space.

Runs Great, Decrease Energy Consumption None I have this HD in an HTPC setup. I have the OS and Media on this Drive (case only has space for 1 drive). I have had two 1080i streams recording to it at when, even though reading 1 1080i stream off of it. Wrked flawlessly.

Working with this in an external enclosure with my Tivo. Earlier Seagate driver failed soon after a two years. I thought a two year lifetime was fine. But the Seagate constantly produced some noise. My wife complained that when the system was off the Seagate drive was clicking all the time.The Western Digital Drive is dead silent and performs perfectly. I wouldn't know what its lifetime until it wears out. None

Incredibly quiet and it also has higher cache than regular and that is main cause why I ordered it. Men and women are saying that is seems slower, but I haven't seen a difference in speed compared to my old WD drive I had that died on me. None so far. Initially I was hesitant about the drive (I was going to order a Samsung a single rather), but I nevertheless continued with the order and I am glad that I did. I orded this drive for an older Dell Dimension E520 technique that my household mainly utilizes, and what from they say, the information transfer is a lot faster than what it was just before.

Had to go with a 3rd celebration software package to format to FAT32 to use on my PS3 backups, but that a XP Pro concern. Set up in a external HDD situation at 1st, but the case didn't function, so it is now inside my personal computer as a backup drive.

1 Operates fine 1 doesn't Bought 2 of these for specifically identical Win7 machines for background network use. This drive was no longer recognizable to MOBO following practically 3mos of use. Other 1 is operating good so far...
