I bought this drive to replace a 5+ year old Seagate OS drive (which died). As other reviewers have mentioned, this drive is quite quick, cool and quiet. I noticed when the drive is idle, it goes into sleep mode or power save mode or something. Once I start using it again, it takes a moment to spin up. Some people may find this annoying, but I do not. |

Mechanical Noises.
Pros: CheapSATA3 (though I doubt it hits SATA3 speeds) Comment:
Hard drive installed and was recognized right away. I noticed that this drive makes a click sound when it powers down. Apparently it is the read head parking itself. I own 3 other WD drives and none of them make this noise so I hope that this is just a "new" feature and not a bad sign. |

Not an SSD for a budget build; plus at 500GB a lot cheaper. I'd rather have one large capacity fast drive rather than a uber-fast SSD and a separate Green storage drive.Stays cool, 5.9 WEI score which is decent for a traditional platter based drive. |

I've worked with Western Digital stuff for as long as I can bear in mind working on PC's...so that would be like about 1981 and I have generally respected WD stuff. This drive is no diverse. Who would have thought a 500GB, 7200 rpm, 6. G data transfer challenging drive could be had for ์. I in no way think twice about the good quality of WD. Nope. What a excellent deal. Thanks!!
