Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB 2.5IN 7200RPM 16GB SATA3GB/S Notebook Hard Drive
Cons:- none I can find ...

Pros:- I thrust Western Digital brand- 5 year warranty is worth the 10$ over the Blue with it's 3 years

Bought 2 to upgrade 2 pcs, one of them being a notebook. Went without a problem. I just wish all case manufacturers would make their hdd racks so they could take 2.5" and not just 3.5".

Quite good. As Rapidly as my old HITACHI Travelstar 500GB 7200 RPM. Travelstar was really quieter than Scorpio Black, but Travelstar tends to make some clinking noise. Scorpio Black tends to make no clinking noise. Non I didn’t have any issues in cloning difficult drive, using EASEUS Disk Copy two.three.My first tough drive, TOSHIBA MK5055GSX 500GB 5400 RPM, is very good as Travelstar. I don’t notice considerably speed difference. (TOSHIBA makes some clinking noise too.)

Great efficiency once firmware troubles resolved. Quick. Fits perfectly into MacBook Pro space. Required a downgrade from EFI 1.7 to 1.6 in order to operate (see apple forums). Shouldn't count against this product, Apple has been conscious of the situation for 1+ year but has failed to repair the dilemma. This problem has been even seen with factory drives immediately after automatic updates on firmware. Really reasonably priced upgrade for your laptop

Particularly rapid, incredibly quiet, runs cool, excellent warranty, stellar reputation, enormous capacity, mature technologies, functions flawlessly with Mac OS X. None. I've had the 750GB Scorpio Black in my Mac mini for a couple of weeks now. The 1st factor that shocked me is how quiet it is. I expected a overall performance drive to be loud. I don't notice a substantial distinction in sound amongst the Scorpio Black and the 5400RPM stock drive. As far as temperatures are concerned, it hasn't brought on the fan to rev, even when beneath heavy load. The Scorpio Black is blazingly fast in heavy reads/writes and really responsive. It's definitely more quickly than the Seagate Hybrid drive that I had ahead of and is also a lot quieter and far far more trusted. The value distinction amongst the 500GB and 750GB model isn't massive, so I personally wouldn't get the older and slightly slower 500GB version. Soon after going by means of the stock 5400RPM drive, an OCZ SSD, and a Seagate Hybrid, I've settled on the Scorpio Black. It's the best mechanical challenging drive on the market and has an great balance in between capacity and functionality.

750GB storage on a single two.five" drive. Nice. The very first 750GB drive I got was defective - couldn't install OSX from the install DVD, couldn't clone using CCC. Western Digital was stumped, so I had to RMA it by means of newegg. The second drive permitted me to set up OSX, but the darn point freezes up whenever I scroll through Finder windows, iPhoto, and so on. This drive freezes and beachballs for 20 seconds at a time. Even disabling SMS hasn't helped. Essentially useless as a principal drive. I've noticed a lot of forum chatter about downgrading MacBook Pro EFI firmware rom 1.7 to 1.6. Appears like a poor excuse for a option. WD must push a firmware update for the drive itself so the personal computer hardware can remain in its native configuration.

About as quickly as your going to get with 7200 rpm two.5 challenging drive. At 750Gb the density is outstanding. I routinely get bursts over e-sata of 110 mbs and lows of 70 mbs. Runs cool with no ventilation. The Seagate is less expensive, quieter and not very noticeably slower. Regrettably I have had a lot more Seagate failures than WD.

For a HDD, really rapid. Does exactly what I ask. I cannot hear the drive, even though I can really feel it park (barely) when I am typing on my keyboard. Installed in my Macbook Pro no problems. I assume the advanced format may well be assisting my overall performance more than the distinction amongst generations. None however, we will see if it lasts longer than my Seagate 7200's. 2 RMA's in 6 months for 1 drive does not inspire confidence. Newegg really produced me mad over this 1. Initially I paid for the express shipping so I could get it to replace a dieing hard drive, hopefully before it went entirely kaput. They sent me the incorrect drive (Blue rather of black) then when I tried to get it RMA'd they had been of the opinion that I really should be thankful I didn't have to spend return shipping. Moreover it ended up taking more than 2 weeks from my original order date to get the drive I ordered, and the day I requested the RMA the cost dropped to ๲. So if I had waited 2 days I could have saved ฮ and got it 3 days faster. Not fantastic newegg, not very good at all.

Was looking for a new laptop and decided to try updating my four+ yr old Dell E1705. What an improvement with this drive from Newegg! It boots quicker, operates more rapidly, and is quieter than before. The install making use of WD's downloaded software went devoid of a hitch (after reading several stories about difficulty with Media Direct, Vista not recognizing new drive's capacity, cloning one partition at a time, and so forth....). I can't even hear it! How really pleased I am, especially immediately after seeing prices on new laptops with 1920 x 1200 screens like this one particular. And hello to my music, photo, and video collection all in one spot with huge space for additions. If you reside with a 5400 or lower drive speed drive, get this a single. Your nervous system will really like you! None. I might have to get my coffee just before booting rather of in the course of.Properly completed on delivery, Newegg.

Western Digital Scorpio Black 750GB 2.5IN 7200RPM 16GB SATA3GB/S Notebook Hard Drive
Cons:If would probably be good for WD to update  the Scorpio Black line and put out a SIII 6gb/s equivalent.

Pros:Excellent sale price The only really decent 7200rpm 2.5" drive on the marketWarranty
Comment:
It's still a strange thing that there are virtually no 7200rpm 2.5" HDD's on the market, and the ones that are (the Sata III ones anyways) are hundreds and hundreds of dollars (clearly Enterprise drives). The equivalent to the WD 2.5" Scorpio (the Seagate Momentus 2.5") has a much shorter Warranty and is like only $5 cheaper, it's not worth it. Besides, Seagates have always been suspiciously loud and the read heads have been clinking for years. I have 4 other WD Green HDDs and they're still running perfect after 3 years. I trust WD over Seagate any day, Seagate's supposedly budget pricing is ridiculous when compared to how short their almost non-existent warranty is. Not sure why people still fall for it.

Substantial space, compatable with ps3 proper out the box, no reformatting necessary. I can only use 1 in the ps3 at a time Excellent for a ps3 memory upgrade. If your process is up to date all you have to do is replace the old one and wait about 20 min for the ps3 to install the system on the drive and off you go.

The drive is quiet, and it has lots of space. :) No major cons that I can believe of. I bought one particular of these to replace the challenging drive in my desktop Computer (with an adapter to make it fit in a 3.5" hard drive bay) since I wanted a quieter drive. This drive is quieter, mainly due to it becoming a laptop drive. For some cause, I really feel like this drive isn't as quickly as it need to be, but perhaps that's just my imagination..

I replaced the 5400rpm drive from my Acer laptop. I needed a faster drive that also has a high capacity for running Win7 and multiple VMs. I cannot buy an SSD with anywhere near a 750GB capacity for around $70.
