-Quick-Quiet-Sleek Design-Works as Advertised -Pricey, but a lot more reasonably priced $/GB ratio than most VelociRaptors to date. I've been extremely satisfied loading this drive up over the final 2 days. I had wanted a VelociRaptor for ages, but the 300 GB models were a small out of my value variety thinking about their storage capacity. This beats out my 1 TB WD Caviar Black hands-down, and that drive has been relegated for off-loading. As an individual who is not totally sold on SSDs just but- yes I'm sure they are incredible, but I assume my girlfriend would murder me if I spent 軸-迀 on a handful of them to match the size of this drive. Let's face it: the judge would agree.

Outstanding item. Really like how they come in an "ice pack" so that they by no means overheat. Really fast, and quiet as properly. Set up Windows 7 in beneath 13 minutes(maybe even 10 I couldnt believe how quickly it was). Drives could have been a bit more rapidly; as they do not genuinely will need or use the new sata three conections sufficiently. My personal Pc has 3x 150GB Raptors in raid . Speeds are as follows:Minimal: 153.7 MB/sMaximum: 277.three MB/sCommon: 206.7 MB/sAccess Time: 7.1 msBurst Rate: 209.eight MB/sI now have 4 of these WD6000HLHX drives in raid 5 on a new develop; Asus corssfire IV, Phenom 6 core OC'd to four.1ghz, 8GB of ram etc., and I get this as the outcomes:Minimal: 163. MB/sMaximum: 231.9 MB/sTypical: 204.9 MB/sAccess Time: 7.three msBurst Rate: 274.8 MB/sI consider this is fantastic concidering very tiny drop off in speeds specially going from raid to a raid five. These tough drives are awesome, and so far each and every generation just keeps acquiring larger, much better, and faster!

I purchased two of the 150GB VelociRaptor's for my now aging Dell E510 as aspect of my last upgrade just about two years ago. Not only are these nonetheless operating strong without any error's and no "Bad Sectors" given that I've had them, I decided to move every VelociRaptor drive into my new Dell XPS-9100. When I received my new XPS-9100 a week ago, I replaced the 1.5TB secondary drive that it came with, with a new 600GB VelociRaptor, as the new primary drive. I also removed the major non WD 500GB drive that came with it, and now use it as a backup on an additional technique. I then added the former VelociRaptor drives as my second and third drive, with the non WD 1.5TB drive as an external backup. None with any VelociRaptor! I know other folks have knowledgeable troubles with these in the past and a handful of that had been DOA when received, but, I have not had a difficulty with any of my WD drives, at least not in several years. I've only had possibly 2 to three difficult drives fail throughout my laptop ownership that now spans practically 20 years, and only 1 of those was a Western Digital that crapped out right after more than six years of service as the principal drive. BTW - Only my NON, WD drives are now used for backups on three of my household systems.

A single word describes this HD: WOW. Unbelievable speed, excellent storage. I only gave four eggs mainly because the cost is ridiculous. Nevertheless, you GET what you Pay for. I had a old Hitachi HD that crapped out on me and I had sufficient. I will only purchase Western Digital from now, specially this line of HD's. In a nutshell: If you can AFFORD the cost, Buy IT. Value is absurd.

In case anybody is questioning what the distinction among the two Velociraptors are (since I couldn't see them pointed out), the ONLY difference is the type factor:three.five-inch (WD6000HLHX)two.5-inch (WD6000BLHX)Reference:Can't post the official WD FAQ due to guidelines, but if you google: WD6000HLHX WD6000BLHXThe initially link will be: Specifications for the Serial ATA 6 Gb/s VelociRaptor® drives

Very rapidly drive, and quite fairly. It beats my now two generation old 150gb Raptors I had in Raid0 on Seek, and Random reads. They still handle to outperform it on a linear read by 10-15mb/s, however incredibly good tradeoff for 4x storage and quiet operation. None however! My last set of raptors both failed within a month of eachother about just more than 2 years. One more two years soon after that, 1 of them is randomly spinning down/powering off. This is a replacement for these. Hopefully these new generation of raptors are more reputable. 2year lifespan is not great.

Very quick shipping from Newegg as usual. Decent speed when they perform. Ice cooler on drive does a very good job. Immediately after a handful of months of operating. Broke down and shows up in Bios as Drive BZBZBZBZBZ. Attempted Western Digtital Lifeguard and of course it says absolutely nothing is incorrect with the drive. Tried Drive on two other computers and it either doesn't show up in the Bios or shows up with quite weird lettering. Warranty service is the worst. I place in for an advanced replacement early Monday morning and they quickly place a hold on my Credit card. It is now Friday and I am being told my advanced replacement may not ship till Monday of subsequent week. Beware if you obtain these drives and they go down on you, your computer will be out for a while thanks to Western Digital. Even worse just about absolutely everyone that answers the telephone there doesn't even speak right English. You will have a hard time understanding them.

*Around 140MB/s Read Speed(HDTune)ƨ.3ms Access time (HDTune)ꔡ.9 MB/s Burst rate(HDTune)Ꙩ GB High Speed Tough Drive is usually good...everything loads fast, not just the O.S.Once I got my replacement drive and my motherboard's drivers got superior this thing has progressively grow to be my beloved thing in the complete planet....so i'm looking at a second.Windows Performace Index provides this drive a 5.9 because of it's "Throughput" nonetheless it is that they figure it up. (Taken from a Overall performance index disk assessment WinSAT document from 1 of my older performance tests)Sequential Read 6.9AvgThroughput four.4Responsiveness AverageIORate six.9Responsiveness GroupedIOs 7.twoResponsiveness LongIOs 7.6Responsiveness All round six.9 As is the case with any tough drive, the additional of a efficiency drive it is, the greater the most likely hood of a manufacturing defect is possible. As was the case with my 1st WD Velociraptor 600GB drive becoming that it died within the initial month of me owning it. I had every little thing from full minute and a half hang ups on opening Windows explorer folders to getting Windows freeze on startup...it sucked. Even so I didn't count it down on a star for two factors. Each of which I will clarify below.1 major con I guess would be that this drive doesn't definitely advantage from SATA 6Gb/s transfers getting that the SATA 3Gb/s transfer standard enables up to 384 MB/s transfer rate Highest (Velociraptor clocks in around 140 for it's read rate and a little slower for it's write speed) so this drive doesn't cap the SATA 3GB/s. As I mentioned twice above, my 1st Velociraptor died within a month of receiving it. Even so one particular thing that WD does very well is their pretty much no questions asked "Advanced Replacement" Warranty/RMA exactly where you give them their credit card details and they'll put a hold on credit equal to the quantity of the replacement drive (so they don't shed cash on the deal) and they'll send you a replacement. They then give you 30 days from the date they shipped the new drive to acquire your old drive. This provides you ample time to transfer something you want and get the new 1 up and operating without having any down time. Which becoming in school appropriate now truly helped out a lot. (ASUS do this with your motherboard replacements PLEASE!!!!) The other cause I didn't count down a star for this drive was that the replacement was everything I thought it would be. Quick, Stable and it rocks for Contact of Duty loading screens, I can commence playing prior to they start talking about the mission :)

Speed = HighNoise = LowCost vs. efficiency/storage size, this is an outstanding selection for those of us that don't have a handful of thousand $$ extra, just burning a hole in our pockets, but want a quickly and trusted standalone or RAID resolution. It's not a SSD.Nonetheless significantly additional high priced than substantially greater regular SATA drives. Actually wishing that this was a regular thickness two.five" drive inside the adapter. I'd really like the capacity to mount these into my laptop(s).

Checks off all the ideal boxes - excellent cache size, 10k speed, higher capacity than lots of 10k drives, fantastic price. Windows 7 "experience index" is only 5.9. My drive at perform rates six.7 (and isn't a 10k). I expected a greater efficiency index from Windows for this. Not certain why it isn't greater - I could have to search some overall performance software program to get a additional correct measure.

I've owned the 36gig, 72gig and 150gig raptors. This drive is about 70% faster than my three.5" 150gig raptor it replaced in the very same program (asus p5b). All have been rock solid. All my workplace apps load almost instantaneosly. No buyers remorse. I'll attempt to post my benchmarks later. None Can't go wrong.

Even at existing costs, this hits the sweet spot for functionality RAID drives. Quiet, cool, rapid. Not for absolutely everyone, but if you are making a quickly server RAID (hardware), 600GBቦKrpm makes a snappy array. They must be in high demand, it took almost two months of watching newegg to see it in stock; bonus, though, 16days from date of manufacture to active array in my server -- fresh as you can get. Verified (scrubbed) 3x with no bad sectors, heavy usage for 3 weeks so far with no troubles. 4 drives in RAID10 = 1.08TB usable space on my setup. Price tag is a bit much if you are just looking for a snappy desktop drive, you can get affordable overall performance at 1Ǚ the cost and you get far more space also. Plus there are SSDs as an option for desktop as nicely. Server SSDs: SLC (the only affordable option for server storage), is nevertheless by way of the roof on value and hence only very best for cache/MaxIQ use.Even with all that stated, I would nonetheless recommend this drive for specific desktop builds, where space is not really a concern but you can only have one drive -- as SSDs have shown everyone, the storage IO is the bottleneck in just about all contemporary computers. 825TQ-R700LPB 2U chassis, X8DAH+-F mobo, Adaptec 5805 RAID Controller, 2xWD3000HLFS鵬GB), 4xWD6000HLHX麘GB), 2xOldSeagateHDs鸴GB).

Quiet, cooler and nicer sounding drive access activity. This drive is Incredibly rapid, benchmarks only tell aspect of the story. This issue boots up quick and applications load up genuine swift. I have a quite significant Aperture library and it goes by it speedily as I browse and edit. I do not see the point of purchasing an SSD in all honesty. From right here on down I doubt (other than benchmarks) you will notice items any faster with an SSD I wish they had 1TB drives. Will buy a second a single so I can have 1.2TB of storage.

Capacity is bigger than my 300GB VR, so I don't have to watch that as substantially any longer. ten,000 RPM. Good for FCP Studio apps because I shop my footage on other drives. Value. I zeroed the drive clean and cloned my program over as I've always carried out without any complications. After a couple hours of install I got the click of death continually along with the beach ball now and then. I'm expecting death within a few days, but I'm not as well upset as I have my backups in spot and know how drives are these days even at this cost. Backup, backup, backup.

Straightforward installation. Low noise once you activate AAM. Very good speed for a challenging drive. Not an SSD so wants no babysitting. None. Don't count on anyplace close to SSD speeds with this. Not a negative, but you need to have to know what you're obtaining. I had an Intel X-25M 40GB in my desktop and got tired of obtaining to run a low-level format on it each and every month or so (I use XP and don't have TRIM help). Intel's SSD Optimizer software program didn't look to help at all.

I own two of these. Incredibly quickly in RAID configuration. Windows7 64 bit WEI score = 6.three. Fastest tough drives on the planet. They are more quickly than the 300GB Velociraptors and substantially more quickly than the 150GB Velociraptors. Pricey Only my two Corsair SSD P256's in RAID (WEIɩ.9) beat the WD Drives which is to be expected. But, the SSD's need to have a lot more babysitting(ocasional G-Parted secure erasing) to keep them at prime notch performance.

I should say, I am completely impressed with this drive. Then once more, it did replace my old 250gb SATA 1.5Gb/s magnetic dinosaur, so I guess I was setting myself up for that a single. Outcomes of the accurate test:This drive - I am able to press the energy button and walk across the hall to the bathroom and hear my laptop or computer boot into Windows before I can unzip my pants.Old drive - I could stroll across the hall to the bathroom, drop a brick, come back to my blasted machine and still have to wait to open the interwebs. That's a win in my book any day. It didn't score a 6. in WPI? Whatever, that's what *new* SSD's are for, suitable? Rofl. Even though it doesn't have the read speeds of an SSD, it certain beats the carp out of the write speeds. As soon as I see some like-new benchmarks from an SSD that was (ab)used for 6 months devoid of undertaking any sort of garbage collection or trim whatsoever, I will then be impressed. Till then, I'm going to continue spinning my tiny magnetic wheels. For reference:AMD Phenom II 9408gb DDR2 1066C: 600gb RaptorD: 1tb Samsung EcoGreenE: 2tb Caviar BlackWindows 7 Ultimate x64(I refuse to have my boot drive be bigger than any of my storage drives - it just appears incorrect)
