Good speed, Window7 64bit, requires 10 secs from post to login screen. Not reliable for an "enterprise" class drive. I've had it for a month. It started with intermittent high disk utilization when loading the desktop. Now following logging into Windows 7 it shows high disk utilization for any action/activity. I opened the case and I can hear the head clicking and trying to read the tracks.I'll be sending this drive back to NewEgg and get myself Intel's most current 150 SSD drive.

Immediately after owning the 150룄gb versions that nonetheless run ideal??? What offers. I am highly upset. I went with the C300; as my major drive and then use a 2tb internal to offload files. Remain away from this drive, or be ready to waste time creating an o/s or these who ghost who cares appropriate?

Quality drive. Sata III. None from WD. Do reading about SATA III drives ahead of you get. SATA II drives are SATA II physical drives with more quickly electronics, so the performance raise is *only* in bursts. SATA III is notable only for SSD drives. I returned mine becuase of this.

Considerably more quickly than my old 300GB WD VR. Runs quiet and so far quickly. Im sure not as fast as all SSD.When I had the 300GB I ran a backup system to the USB three. drive and it did (At its speed) about 12MB/Sec. Right after I got the 600GB drive and reinstalled almost everything and employing the same backup program and USB three. drive I now get 21MB/Sec. Thats going to the WD My Book 2tb USB three. from the 600GB WD VR. SSD's are more rapidly but this is fantastic till I locate I larger SSD and less costly. The price tag for speed and size is fair. I have two of these running RAID and they scream. The drive does make some noise. I just wanted rapid and SSDs are a little pricey from the speed/size viewpoint

Its quiet and came with a cool heatsink. Value is also high for a drive that runs a little superior than a inexpensive 80 or 90 dollar 1TB 7200 rpm drive. *If you are willing to dish out nearly 跌 on a Raptor drive I strongly recommend to devote a little more and go with SSD.*I wanted to give this drive three eggs but I think general I have to give it 2 eggs since price tag to performance is actually poor when you can devote 200 dollars much less for a 1TB 7200 rpm drive which is just a little slower.Speeds are okay, not as fast as I believed it would be.I was expecting the new Raptors to have noticable difference then the older ones. I owned a 3 year old 150gb Raptor just before with my old computer and I do not notice any difference in speed and efficiency than this one particular, except perhaps transfer speed may well be a tiny better on the new 1.If I could do it all over once more, I would devote the added 贶-175 and obtain the Intel X25-M 160GB SSD.

I purchased two. 1 developed many negative blocks soon after about a week. I didn't comprehend what the actual issue was mainly because I was developing an entirely new machine, so didn't instantly isolate the difficulty considering that the poor regions were in the operating technique's region.Returned a single drive and now testing its replacement, so far all is effectively. Access times on these drives are about half the norm, so almost everything loads incredibly rapidly (my objective). Putting them onto a 6Gb/s controller makes small difference more than a 3Gb/s controller. They run suprisingly cool for a 10K drive (I'm utilized to SCSI energy levels), and are quiet also. I will buy more. I hope that my drive failure was a total fluke, but don't really know, therefore my ?

Every little thing I mentioned just before. Only two days following I write my other evaluation, I moved everything more than from my Antec 900 into a brand spanking new CM HAF X. I go to plug in my Raptors, and the energy connection is broken! On Each DRIVES!!On one of them, the entire plastic protection component of the power pin (hahaha alliteration) is completely snapped off and I have just floating pins sitting exactly where the connection should be. I go to appear at my PSU connection and certain enough that plastic piece is jammed in the connection with no way to get rid of it.On the other drive, the little vertical tab has snapped off. Thankfully, I quite carefully plugged both drives in (the 1 with the modest vertical tab that snapped off wasn't so bad, but the floating power pins 1 was delicate) and got them to spin up. I'm advanced replacing these drives thru WD which means they'll send me both drives so I can copy my data more than then I send the bad ones back, so hopefully those will be in prior to the week is out.But I'm out pretty much 軸 on debit until I send them the other drives back, so I could be out that money for a handful of weeks. Not cool!ŋǛ + 5Ǜ review = two.fiveǛ total. They are exceptional drives, but you have to be careful with the connections on the back.I have Never had a dilemma like this with other WD drives. In reality, I have two other WD drives in my case with these, and they've been taken in and out of circumstances both internally and externally several instances and their connections are just fine. What offers? Shoddy QC...

rapidly and lots of space, has a heatsink on itbought eight of these, no dudsɏ of the drives has a wierd problem even though, see cons. 1 of the 8 drive will not activate the HDD LED Activity Light- and it runs about 15mb/s more rapidly than the other individuals, the drive nevertheless works fine- just no matter what tray or bay i attempt - the raid panel refuses to light up an indicator that this drive is there (an old drive operates just fine). I'm working with each WD and the server's manufacturer to see if I can get this wierd difficulty resolved. Every thing points to the drive becoming defective, but it nevertheless appears to work fine. Maybe it's one thing to do with it getting a sata six and the controller i'm using is just a sata three.

This drive performs very nicely in a process capable of SATA III. I replaced a 150GB raptor drive in a SATA II system with this a single and the ASUS Sabertooth X58 mobo, and had a noticeable increase in access instances and load speeds. I needed the additional space as well...ran out of space on the old drive, so plenty of space now with 600GB. Very first drive was problematic and would freeze up on boot or OS install, even right after a BIOS update and driver slipstreaming. RMA'd it and the new tough drive had zero troubles. Really pleased with this product. I could have gotten a lot more speed by getting some SSDs, but I am not entirely trusting of them however, and they are way too expensive, so this drive was a great compromise amongst speed and economy.

Cost still high but i got mine for 200 a peice so i was fine with that price. i debated long when they where at 275 each glad i waited. these drives by them selves are quickly but not worth the cash unles you run them in a raid. any 2 raid drives by them selves will beat a single raptor drive. i am not operating my os on this correct now so i cant comment on efficiency improvments with windows. i will include my HDtune benchmarks whic where good. This is on a SATA 2 controller alsoWD Velociraptor 600gbBenchmark ReadMinϙMax⎷Typical⎞Accessa.35Burst⏼AAM Access Time File Benchmarkhalf Δmb␘rd렋rwdoubleτmb⎼rd렖rwtwo WD Velociraptor 600gb Raid Benchmark ReadMin⏐Max␼Typical␎Accessa.12Burst𖣵*AAM Access Time 7msFile Benchmarkhalf Δmb╎rd론rwdoubleτmb⑼rd뢈rwRandom512Z.0684kZ.54264ka.6881mbτ.087randomή.459

I enjoy these drives. They're speedy, they're quiet, and they natively fit in the Mac Pro's backplane. I'm making use of two of these drives in RAID following to OCZ Vertex 2's ...also in RAID in a 2010 Mac Pro. They execute incredibly nicely...even when compared to the nasty-quick Vertex two's...and the added capacity a lot more than makes up for any efficiency differential. None. They're the ideal consumer HDD's you can get so even although others state cost as a con ...you do pay a lot more for the greatest. If you're looking for a great compromise among high-speed and value (compared to SSDs)...your search is over.

High Capacity, 6Gbps SATA III High quality Control Poor. 1 of two drives unusable out of the box. Performance is disappointing. Check new drive with Western Digital Lifeguard tool as soon as you get it out of the box. I purchased two of these drives to use as a RAID array on a new Intel board with Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller. Right after spending almost a week unsuccessfully attempting to make an array, I downloaded the Western Digital Lifeguard test tools and discovered that one particular drive had so quite a few negative sectors that it couldn't be formatted. The defect is subtle. I was in a position to initialize the drive and produce a partition, but it failed at formatting. I benchmarked the other drive against a 3Gbs SATA II drive and it's throughput was actually 124kbps lower.
