wonderful mtbf, high cache, longer warranty, server good quality drive for 24ǝ operation, with other drives failing and losing information when they fail, decided to give a higher high quality drive a attempt, worth it for the added ! none @ this time this is my primary operating method drive, windows 7 ultimate x64, and it loads at greater rates than the other drives with lower cache....

I purchased two of these bad boys to replace my old WD 250gb which only got about 20 - 30mb a second :'( So i figured that these would be a fair improvement....OH MAN! these are so quickly!!! *IN A Software program RAID* I'm getting about 250gb a second I really want to put 'em in a hardware raid...I'm positive that they would be even quicker in a hardware raid! This / these HDD's are nicely worth the cost and they're RE4 so even better eh? plus if you appear at the RE3 on Newegg there 1 DOLLAR cheaper, half the cache, and there older RE tech lol why would you not go with this? Extended story brief I Like THESE HDD'S!!!! Not a single 1!!! GO WD! They make the very best stuff ever me and my brother have been purchasing WD stuff for a long time now. I have a WD from 1990 that is still spinning!

So far so great with these difficult drives. I ordered Two for a Raid set up. I was on the wall debating on The Revo drive or this on and set up into a Raid setup. Hopefully these will not drop out of raid array like the 640 gb blacks I tried a year and a half ago. Tough drives were packed greater then expected, Paper in out side box, and two boxes with bubble wrap took five days from TN to Northern IL to get here. Windows 7 rated these at 6.1 in raid with two of these. HD tune rates these at:min: 153.three mbsmax: 249.6 mbsavg: 217.6 mbsseek: 9.8 msburst: 155.five mbscpu: -1%Wish I would of ordered two a lot more to max out my motherboard. Setup my partition at 450 gb and 485 gb and 128 k sizeThis is on a Intel Rig Q9550 with a EP45-Ud3P

I like to investigate just before buy and a previous post about not making use of these in a non-RAID environment had me thinking till I found this small gem of information from WD support that contradict that misinformation:Distinction among Desktop edition and RAID (Enterprise) edition drivesAnswer ID 1397While TLER is designed for RAID environments, a drive with TLER enabled will work with no performance reduce when applied in non-RAID environments. None. This sounds like an exceptional drive to use for any application where reliability and speed are essential.

Working with two in a a raid array for boot up and games. Working excellent. not 10,000 rpm, lol, but def priced far better for performance Make sure you know to use the RE series if you strategy on running a RAID array

I never HAD any problems with WD.I did a true hardware RAID-10 with four of these HDDs for my server.You can get a better price by doing a price match.
