I installed Windows XP x64 and Windows 7 x32 to anxiety test my new develop, while I was waiting for my Windows 7 x64 to arrive (over a week later). The drive worked flawlessly with all three OS and the hardware diagnostics. Need to last a long time. None so far. If it crashes ahead of the warrantee expires, I'll be back to thrash it on the boards.

I have been working with WD Black, RE3 and RE4 drives for a long time and I have never been disappointed. Yes you will spend a small much more for them but hey, this is what our information is riding on and they have longer warranties. None so far.

Rapidly & quiet drive. Simple installation into my Mac Pro desktop so there was no need to have to buy something much more than the "bare drive" alternative. Newegg's packaging was superb; drive was inside of a tiny box surrounded by bubble wrap then placed in a bigger box for shipping. it's only been a few days, but none so far. Properly pleased with this buy.

Snappy, quiet, power-effective, rated for lengthy life (time will tell but WD has served me well, personally.) Sturdy casing.I feel they are a good investment at the price tag point presented compared to VelociRaptors or Enterprise SSD.Guess I was lucky but the 4 I ordered from Newegg had been packed in correct semi-flex foam inserts, every in its personal WD-marked HDD-sized cardboard box. These had been then well-packed in a larger box. completely none so farmaybe they could migrate to 2.5" ultimately... four of these running on an Adaptec 2405 in RAID 1E makes for a very snappy array with super-quick writes. For as small work as our server sees, I saw no purpose to improve the lifetime energy conumption and possibly harm the reliability by using 10,000rpm VelociRaptors. I am rather pleased with the outcomes.

SUPER quiet, cool and Fast!!! Totally rock my RAID setup! Zero problems from the start off. Thoroughly pleased! None... Packaging from Newegg was Fantastic and seems to be far better than the earlier complaints I have read, drives arrived and worked excellent no issues. Speed and service from NE was fantastic as usual. Don't hesitate on these.... Large improvement from the preceding drives they replaced.

Speedy & easy NewEgg RMA for the DOA HD. DOA - installed in a test server, ran the lengthy Intelligent self-test "Extended offline" (with smartmontools - look on supply forge), it failed. I don't know if NewEgg's kinda-sloppy packaging brought on the DOA. They applied plenty of fairly fantastic packaging materials - but generic types, thrown collectively quick. Surely would have been superior if they utilized developed-for-three.5"-drives packaging, or took their time with the generic stuff.

It's an "RE4". Knowledgeable men and women require no additional explanation, and I am too busy to make a lengthy assessment but just get this:RE4 drive. Enterprise reliability. Optimized for RAID.HDD's MOST Important SPEC FOR US, Specialists, IS NOT SIZE!! IT'S RELIABULITY! WHO CARES ABOUT 100 TERABYTE STORAGE IF probability of dataloss rises exponentially with Density + Heat/Rotational Speed!RE4's have TWO (not one particular) motors'supports + TWO ƒ) Microcontrollers (miniprocessors) versus customer Harddisks that a single ly use a Single. Also Cache size is reasonable for really serious organizationᛨMB None. Possibly a bit heavy, but it's supposed to for reliability (see 'pros" above") Value is clearly hgiher than standard drives. You might waste funds if all you require is to record Videos/Music often, residence use, kids, etc. & don't mind information integrity/reliability. But for critical use, this is 1 strong drive and it's a tradition - WesternDigital was previously shipping RE2, RE3 (I got one particular) and now RE4 (I got also one particular, total two) and this RE-series is the very best.

Incredibly quickly in Raid . 265 mb/s Max in HD Tune, Typical over 200 mb/s. Very nice drives. None I have often liked Western Digital. I have 7 of their drives in at present running machines, and all are performing wonderfully. These drives are just about as rapidly as my 600 gig velociraptors that are in my laptop operating in raid .

Bought two of these for use in a RAID. Properly packaged by NE: each and every was bubble-wrapped and placed in its own sturdy box inside the shipping box. Phenominal speeds each approaches when moving data between memory (RAMdisk) and RAID. None. My firm utilizes these drives in our SANs, so I figured they'd be a fantastic option for use with my LSI 8344ELP RAID card. I was in the air in between these and the Caviar Black drives of the same capacity. The Blacks have half the cache but dual-processors; it would be exciting to see how they examine in a RAID.

Quite quiet, cool operating, rapidly none Getting an older Mac Pro with solid mounting slides, I wanted to replace some of my current drives with additional quiet models. Previous units develop a buzzing sound over time, plus I could hear the heads moving back and forth. These drives are silent.

-Low-cost-Rapid-Trustworthy -None for it's value What can be mentioned about a HDD? It's substantially quicker than the Caviar Blue of the very same size that it relaced. It's inexpensive at only ๠ and so far it has been one hundred% trusted. Transfer rates are up by 30%-40% on average over the 500GB Caviar Blue drive.

I'm amazed at how quiet these drives are. I have 4 of them in RAID 10 and compared to my other technique which also has four drives (another brand), they don't appear to make any noise at all. They installed simply and I was in a position to set up Windows 7 in a quite quick time. In my RAID configuration they are pretty darn fast also! None so far, but then I have utilised WD drives in the previous and never ever had troubles with any of them.

If they actually operate and I don't have to return the drives I'll be amazed. I ordered two of these drives and they were packaged in a eight.five x 12.five x 16 inch box which is ridiculous to start with. There have been a few strips of crumpled up paper in there for packing and the two harddrives freely tossing around. One of the anti static bags is punctured in three areas and the circuit board on the bottom of the drive appears to be corroded. I've heard plenty of horror stories about the packaging of harddrives from newegg and it appears I've turn out to be one particular of its victims. I've ordered a lot of harddrives from newegg in the previous and they were at least each individually wrapped in bubble wrap. I'm really disappointed in newegg.

This is an update to my initial post. These drives can be used as single drives with no issue at all. All TLER does is give the drive time to repair itself wihout removing it from the array. Doesn't matter how quite a few drives are in the array, even a single. Cost compared to other drives. Still the finest drives out there. Subsequent step would be SSD. Alot of folks have been turning to one more manufacturer's drives that had an awful vibration noise to them. These RE4's are silent.

Really rapid, incredibly quiet. None so far. (maybe value...but so far these are certainly worth it. As far as reliability goes, time will tell. So far these issues work wonderful. Bought two of them to replace two aging and overheating Western Digital Blue's. These run a full ten degrees C lower than the old drives ࿈ or significantly less). Create speeds are around 130MB/s (old drives had been ㅥMB/s so the speed improve is excellent!), and they are whisper quiet. Another reviewer right here stated to not use them as standalone drives. Effectively...they might be optimized for RAID but so far they're carrying out just fine as standalone. They're undoubtedly much better than the WD Green's and Blue's that I've owned in the previous.
