Comment:
Very easy setup and install of 64-bit Windows 7 Pro from a USB thumb drive. All standard drivers installed by Win 7 in the course of the install, then by way of Windows Update it identified a number of newer versions. Plays complete-screen video off of a slow online connection with (mostly) no difficulties. Can't appear to locate a driver for "Co-processor" device anywhere. Doesn't look to be affecting something, but I wonder what I'm missing devoid of it. This tiny fella is part of a new (first, actually) HDTV/Tivo/Blu-ray entertainment set up. Now we get fulll-screen Hulu in the living area. Functions fantastic with the somewhat lackluster Adesso wireless keyboard I picked to go with this.

Good little economical box for make it yourself DVRNo preloaded OS so I don't get stuck paying for some thing I don't want.HDMI, ESATA, and adequate USB's to do most anything with. Small HDD, demands making use of ESATA or replacing the internal drive.Could use a little far more memory. I've loaded a lot of extras onto my WMC and it appears to be a little slow now

Reasonably low cost and snappy and uncomplicated and you don't have to pay additional for Windows. Not virtually as quiet as some evaluations and advertisement claims - incredibly audible "whisper" hum. When I had it next to the monitor so all the buttons and so forth had been accessible, it was as well annoying (previously I'd applied an old Mac Mini, and the steady shhhhh on the Zotac was more annoying than the underpowered Mac Mini's rushing fans when opening applications). So I moved it to below the desk and it is still annoying but bearable. The noise concern is exacerbated in Ubuntu by the fact that "suspend" or "hibernate" doesn't perform - according to the support forums this is a Ubuntu bug that is becoming worked on. Also had trouble in Ubuntu acquiring the HDMI port to operate - bought 2 cables, emailed Zotac (received a terse but somewhat valuable reply), etc. Finally discovered the internet site of Albert Milone who wrote a program known as Envy NG and when I typed in the right script in Terminal I was finally able to get a digital display.

Atom 330 ƒ cores + 2 threads per cor)Nvidia ION graphics driverOptical SPDIF outputSD card readerQuiet*eSATA (so that one could attach a little disk array to it, creating it a lot more suitable for a media process)Most (if not all) elements are supported underneath Linux The wireless is terrible, but I am not sure if this is the chipset itself (atheros), or the present high quality of the ath9k driver in Linux, or basically the truth there is no outside antenna.Smaller & slow challenging drive with questionable longevity. Program seems to run hot with CPUs at 50-55C when idle. (bad thermal paste maybe?) I get smooth HD 񡺸p) video in MythTV with significantly less than 20% cpu usage, using VDPAU.Its not quiet by default. The fan runs loud at higher RPM to keep cool. You can tweak the fan settings in the BIOS so that the fan runs slower until the temperature gets larger. Atom 330s max out at 85C, and just turning the max temperature for the fan to 75C in the bios produced it a lot additional quiet.

Got it yesterday and had everything up and operating in just a few hoursThis child does every little thing I require it to. Its a terrific HTPC for the cost. Windows 7 installed quickly and runs wonderful. Immediately after putting in Adobe Flash ten.1 (beta), Youtube movies and HULU desktop play at fullscreen on my 50" Television with out a challenge. Movies played in VLC from a Flash drive ran without a stutter. Boxee runs good. Each the HDMI and SP/DIF digital optical audio worked fantastic right after installation.Thinking of I built the HTPC this replaced and spent much more than 񘈨 on it and also thinking about it died following two years, I am thrilled I have a replacement that I spent so little funds on. The installer on the integrated CD didn't work, so I had to manually install drivers. That wasn't a massive deal to me as I most likely would've accomplished it anyway to make confident I had the most current drivers. Nonetheless, I do have 1 device that is not recognized in Device Manager - The Co-Processor. I'll be investigating that right now. I feel at this value they ought to contain an operating process of some type. Even if its Ubuntu Linux with MythTV. Hulu Tv played within a browser had some stuttering. But my analysis indicates the problem is a recognized situation in the beta make of Flash ten.1, so I assume it will get worked out (plus it plays effectively in Hulu Desktop). There are still some items I want to get functioning on this machine, specifically Windows MCE running Tv from my HDHomeRun. I seem to be having a difficulty with the HDHR so I didn't even try to configure MCE yet. I am giving this five stars. Despite the fact that I have some quibbling and ideas for ZOTAC. This issue (so far) does every thing I will need it to. I am genuinely happy with tis acquire.I will update the review as I study more.

Really fast with Windows 7 32-bit.Plays all my movies which include 1080p content with out a hitch. No problems streaming total DVD files more than wired LAN.Plays Hulu and Netflix videos completely.I also use this as a dedicated game server for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 with no problems. Maps load quickly, no gameplay stutters or something and super low pings.I had an old 2GB SD card and threw that in the front slot and got an added 2GB of ReadyBoost memory which created this even far better.Looks slick sitting in my living area, even though the case attracts dust like you wouldn't believe.THE RAM IS UPGRADEABLE TO 4GB, but you will have to purchase a 4GB ƒ x 2GB) kit as there are no totally free DIMMs. Wireless won't hold a connection from 15 feet away and total signal.Don't count on to be watching total episodes on ABC's or Fox's web sites. They use a terribad video player plugin that stutters like crazy (did the exact same thing on my P4 machine this replaced). You need to nevertheless be in a position to watch them on Hulu although they're there although.Runs hot, but the temps are properly inside standard operating temperatures per Intel Atom and nVidia ION specs. The evaluations on the hard drive kinda scared me, but I've had no issues, no "clicking" or something like that.If you're seeking for a inexpensive HTPC or server that you can throw some thing like Windows 7 on then snag 1 of these.I had no complications utilizing a thumbdrive to set up the OS. Applied diskpart from the command prompt to prepare a principal partition on the drive then just copied all the files from the DVD to the drive and restarted making confident to set the thumbdrive as the very first one particular in the boot priority.Install was very fast and I had no troubles. Windows 7 drivers from Windows Update seem to be a small outdated with nVidia getting the newest ones, but I encountered no difficulties with either set of drivers. All devices installed, no "unknown" devices in teh device manager.I did have a display scaling situation with my HDTV, but that turned out to be a issue with the Tv. It was a feature named "Overscan" which I had to disable on the Tv. Soon after I did that the display was best.

Intel's ATOM processors are a sign of good points to come, and Zotac's MAG HD-ND01 tends to make the greatest of it! This unit gives four cores at about 1.6 GHz. That implies it's rapid adequate for desktop use, and strong enough for streaming low-res movies. It comes with a handy mounting bracket so you can mount it behind an LCD Tv and used it as a media player. Supports Win7 and comes with all the necessary drivers. The MAG has an SPDIF optical audio out for clear five.1 sound, and native HDMI port that functions with any HDMI system. It also has a built in wireless network interface that Win7 detects upon install. Nice small box for the income. Don't count on to play 1080P movies on this thing. It's just as well considerably for the GPU. That mentioned, reduced-res videos are just fine. The unit puts off some heat, which could be much better dispersed if Zotac employed an aluminum case instead of plastic. Overall, I'm giving it five eggs mainly because it's just too cool! A ideal Pc for little youngsters, or as a low-res media station.

Use that as a Mythtv Frontend (Mythdora install) system handles all the HD content I've thrown at it. Even 1080 recordings. Enclosed VESA mount is great. nice and quite for bedroom operations. Would have liked an 1Ǟ" audio port near the VGA output as it puts a strain on my combined VGA/Audio cable. But when I got HDMI operating that removed the require since the HDMI carried the audio to the Television as well. Use HDMI to get greatest resolution and image quality. HDMI worked right after I updated the fresh install (from CD) to get the most recent drivers.

Small footprint, quiet, gigabyte lan jack, hdmi, spdif, lots of ports (usb, esata, vga, hdmi, etc) and with windows updates can get your 1080i/p out of this! None for us so far. Installed Win7 64 bit. Immediately after some updates I searched in the windows updates optional category for existing video drivers. Following putting in these I am capable to get 1080i into our 42" LCD Tv. Almost everything looks great. Employing SPDif for audio out but did discover sound more than HDMI was operating prior to I defaulted to SPDif. Mounted on back of our Tv making use of supplied bracket. Had to use some other screws. The driver CD was of no use at all. Just use Windows Update and you need to be fine. We are working with this as a SageTV client and couldn't be happier. We are working with a wired network connection. For a dual core atom it does lag even though switching applications a bit but otherwise is great. I would extremely advise this box for everyone hunting for a great HTPC box.

Handles wired streaming like a champ - HD integrated. When I had the system wired to my router I had no issues streaming motion pictures to this machine. As talked about typically right here, the wireless is ABYSMAL. During a chat with Zotac technical assistance I was told that it is "normal" to expect nothing much more that one bar of service from a wireless N router that is in clear view and no far more than 22 feet apart. DO NOT Buy THIS IF YOU Plan TO USE THIS WIRELESSLY. I really should get at least 50 feet of complete bars... It's good seeking and if your making use of a wired connection you won't be disappointed. If it's wireless though, I recommend you see this: http://www.zotacusa.com/forum/topic񳗶-mag-hd-nd01-wireless-n-is-awful/page__gopid__5939&

Tiny footprint, Windows 7 compatible out of the box, relatively quiet. Far better than the Acer Revo. Close to-best box for a HTPC. Solid construction. As stated the wireless adapter does not operate properly - poor reception. Boot-up screen does not indicated how to enter BIOS or boot menu. F11 brings up boot menu incase any individual is interested! Would be extremely valuable to have a built in infrared to help htpc remote controls.

I wanted a incredibly tiny Computer for the living area and this was perfect for the job. Have it hooked up to a Samsung 52" Television and it has no issues playing HD @ 1920x1080 resolution. Extremely sleek and low profile. I've had this for just about a year and its been running smoothly aside from the wireless problem I mention in the cons section. As several other individuals have talked about, the wireless operates extremely poorly. I was curious whether the culprit was the card, drivers or the antenna, so I popped out the card and stuck it in my laptop, and it worked perfectly there. So I have gathered the issue is most likely related to a faulty antenna. Docked an egg for that explanation. I purchased a ฤ usb wireless adapter to get about the wireless issue. No issues at all using the usb wireless adapter. Moreover, I upgraded the ram from 2GB to 4GB and installed an Intel SSD; that actually brought this rig to life. Fantastic Computer all about.

Utilizing as an HTPC with Windows 7. The install was flawless, with all hardware recognized. Runs WMC devoid of issue. The mount for the back of a monitor is only for tiny screens or desktop LCD's. I will have to make an adapter to mount it to the back of my 50" plasma. Not a major deal, knew it when I purchased it. Fast shipping from Newegg and a fantastic price.

tiny compact, neat small orange circle on side! ( I am easily amused) Up and running with ubuntu and xbmc with a IR Media Center remote inside 90 minutes (I am a linux novice.) Plays 1080p motion pictures with no a hitch. I have to update the BOIS as often it will hang on booting with a connected HDMI cable (known concern) just did not get around to it yet. I would get again with out a second believed. Operating Linux in a wired property so I cannot say anything about the wireless. HDMI audio out functions plugged into HDTV, so i cannot attest to audio top quality. (Sounds fantastic to me via stereo speakers.) Plays good with WHS, although that is additional software program than hardware.

Low power: 24w when idle(measured it myself)Tiny: VESA mounting is excellent, especially with the rapid release.Quickly: Dual core atom 330 runs Linux GUI nicelyRuns Linux well with no drivers needed.(see Other thoughts) Runs hot: fan is on a lot of the time and it does make some noiseBought 9 of these. Out of the 9 I have an open RMA with Zotac for one particular which has a failing disk.Power provide cord has two prongs for hot and neutral and a green wire that demands 1 to SCREW it to the ground of outlet cover. Idiotic. I feel I will comply with up with Zotac and ask why they do this.(would make sense if this was 1965...)As well a lot packaging employed. but at least it is all cardboard and not foam/plastic Running Ubuntu Lucidྪ.04) on these. They are workstations/thin clients that connect to an LDAP/NFS server. Not employed or tested: Digital audio, HDMI, esata, card reader.Opening it up voids the warranty.

Smaller, attaches to the Vesa Mount screw holes in any newer flat panel tv. Dual core atom, Nvidia graphics, HDMI output. Optical audio output is leading notch! greater than HDMI in my opinion. Does seem to run a bit warm, but not also warm... over-clocking may possibly be an concern. Perhaps mounting it away from back of tv is a far better, but less attractive option. On board wireless leaves a bit to be desired. More than-all this box is a great performer for the buck! With some time and some tweaking... it will carry out well for my intentions. I did not purchase this from Newegg, while Newegg did have a superior cost (barely), I had all prepared committed on one more web page (my loss).

I've been seeking for a machine to use as a MythTV frontend in my bedroom for a lengthy time, and this is exactly what I wanted. VDPAU support for video decoding, low power usage, low noise, HDMI, and it even includes a mount to attach it directly to the back of a LCD monitor so it's very efficient on space. Virtually every thing works out of the box with Mythbuntu 9.10. I did have to mess around to get audio to perform over HDMI, but that's common practice with ALSA. Suspend-to-RAM is incredibly flaky due to what appears to be a USB situation. If I set the machine to wake on USB activity (Power button on my remote control) it won't keep in suspend mode unless I have additional than one USB device plugged in. Otherwise it just wakes up promptly soon after it suspends for some purpose. Maybe a future BIOS update will repair this. Just add an LCD monitor with built-in speakers and an HDMI port, plus a USB IR reciever and MCE remote and you have a incredibly good mythtv frontend. It would be good if it had a built-in IR reciever, but I guess it wouldn't be also beneficial if you're mounting it on the back of your monitor anyway.

Excellent small machine for a HTPC create. The size and appear are excellent too. Operates wonderful @ 1080p and with multi-channel digital sound through S/PDIF. None. Had to RMA initial one as HDMI port had difficulties (wouldn't HDCP handshake with Tv); second 1 worked flawlessly. Not the fault of the Zotac MAG but Hulu vids run terribly and will call for you to run Windows for the flash ten.two beta which has hardware acceleration. If hardware acceleration for flash ever tends to make it to Linux (and to the 64 bit flash player) then it's back to Linux for this machine.

I previously posted that there were issues with Linux help for the Atheros chip in this unit. Indeed, I did have to download the "compat-wireless" archive to develop an updated ath9k driver for my Fedora 12 distribution. That's going to be a minor irritation, since it will have to be rebuilt every time there's a kernel update. And the wireless is apparently a lot far more sensitive to interference than my other wireless G devices. But following carrying out a bit of channel surfing, I think it's all operating great. None.

There clearly is no CD drive and no operating method is loaded out of the box, so you need to either connect a USB 1 or know how to develop an operating system install on a USB disk (plenty of info for that on the internet) I've been waiting for this type of product for a whilst, this is exceptional value (got it the weekend it listed! on NewEgg) -You can play HD content material at ten% cpu, it will run Windows 7 with a overall performance index of just beneath six. on board 150G drive, dual core Atom

smaller and low energy usuage, which also fits nicely in the living space as a htpc. I have a new lenovo multimedia remote keyboard that was on sale at the lenovo site in the course of the christmas week. The multimedia keyboard is superb, it is a killer to the logitech dinovo mini. slow! I'm not employing it for gaming, just for movies and net browsing. I haven't attempted the movie part however, but the internet browsing element is not as quick as I assume it would. For instance, when scrolling the web page up and down, there is some lack to it. Which indicates the processing of page refresh is slower than a pentium 4 laptop or computer. I installed the window 7 64 bits ultimate on it, with all the drivers installed automatically by window 7. So I'm positive if it was the driver that causes this net page scrolling lack. Also, when opening the internet browser, it took a handful of seconds load the MSN defaulted homepage, this did not take place to my dual core computers. Even my notebook with the dualcore SU2500 1.2 ghz processor is quicker than this atom processor which is 1.6 ghz dualcore. all this test is below a newly installed opperating technique with nothing installed in it. Typically when you initially install a new opperating process on a personal computer, your computer system must feels rapidly and fresh, simply because it does not have all the craps that you installed later which would slow downing the opperating system. with this I do not really feel the fastnest in a fresh OS. I hope other men and women who did not have the exact same experience as I do can share the tricks and recommendations which can speed up this tiny monster.
