Like the look and slick feel. Pretty solid. The screws were a bit of a nitemare obtaining out. Almost stripped them. Wonderful for the cost.

Works as stated. No difficulty at all. Fits well. No weird noises. No screwdriver for the bloody tiny screws included. I have had other enclosures that came with a mini screwdriver because the screws are so small.This is not a big deal although. Inexpensive and works good, what far more do you want?

- Functions beautifully with all powered USB 2. ports and hubs that I tried it on. Even so, I didn't use the stock cable, but opted to use a longer mini USB cable that didn't have the Y connector.- Excellent enclosure for my WD Scorpio Blue 500GB difficult drive.- Overall solid construction with mainly metal parts, except for the front and back faceplates.- Appealing appear - May well be responsible for my Scorpio Blue spinning down each 30 seconds, even following I disabled its idle timer employing WDIDLE3 /d. This is a solid affordable tough drive enclosure, and I highly recommend it overall.

Cheap, tiny, lightweight. screws and tapped enclosure kinda iffy for but if you are careful and make confident you are lined up suitable it is no dilemma If the screws and the enclosure was set up a little distinct to be less likely for cross threading or galling the threads it would be much better but still workable.Not for someone who is going to be swapping in/out drives regularly

Applied to rework a pulled Mac Pro tough drive from my pc and get the dirve cleanded formated and back prepared to re-insatl in the Mac. . worked excellent. for me none.

Works with the 40GB two.5" 9.5mm 5400RPM SATA challenging drive I inserted into it. Read and write speeds are both reasonable. It's nearly silent, even even though in heavy use. Doesn't require external power. Has an LED activity light. Doesn't look ugly. Reasonable cost. At 1st my Device Manager recognized it but My Laptop or computer didn't. Immediately after reading by means of their on web site FAQ I went by means of the Disk Manager and formatted it. Kid of annoying but it was a one time factor. Because this drive came from my PS3 I believe that's why I had to go via the Disk Manager so you in all probability wont have to deal with that. (Because of this it didn't have an effect on my rating).Also, it comes with a USB cable that needs two ports on your pc to be used. Due to the fact that's kind of an inconvenience I utilized a regular 1 port USB Mini cable I had lying around, but it didn't operate. Attempted a distinct 1 and it worked just fine. Little, easy and successful design. Very effortless setup. none. Was cared of unknown brand name but was swiftly relieved when I had the enclosure in hand. Use a high quality Ş screwdriver and there shouldn't be issues with the screws. I use Wiha brand, worth the expense.The cord is to brief and the LED is bright but they perform ok for me.I am working with a 500g WD Scorpio Blue rated at .55 amps With just a single plug and it works with the short stock cable, but not a longer thinner cable. which will operate for what I am wanting to use it for.

umm it holds a challenging drive. THE SCREWS. they are sooooooo tiny you would not think it. went to CVS and that screwdriver was too major, went to the dollar shop and found one. got household and stripped the screw and scraped half the face of the hard drive off attempting to get the screw out with some pliers. seriously.

Purchased this and a 500gb HDD to put inside it:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148371 Working with for PS3 and PC external storage. You'll will need "Fat32format" or a comparable program if you're preparing on using FAT32 (PS3 compatible) on a drive over 32gb, considering that Windows won't format something more than that. If you don't own one, acquire a Ş Phillips screwdriver for the screws. They're not an issue if you have the suitable tool. Just unscrew the 2 screws that hold the faceplate with the USB connector (not the smooth side), plug your notebook drive into it, slide it back in and put the screws back. Tip: When reinstalling the screws, line them up, then turn counterclockwise in an unscrewing motion until you really feel the little "click" of the screw thread dropping into location, then turn clockwise. This will stop crossthreading.

This did precisely what I needed it to do. No technical understanding was necessary; just unscrew the end, plug in the drive, slide it back into the enclosure, and screw the finish back on. It takes both USB drives on my MacBook but only necessary one when I connected to a PC. It's specifically what I required! 1 screw on the finish I necessary to take off was a bugger and it took me rather a although and trying a couple of distinct tools to get it loosened. Make positive you have a tiny Phillips screwdriver. You will need a actually secure fit to get those screws out, and something that's a little too huge isn't going to give you the purchase you want.

Most incredible enclosure that I have ever purchased. Metal case fits drive pretty much perfectly with no wiggle room what so ever. None! Super easy style leaves no drivers necessary and absolutely nothing to go wrong! Screws as previously mentioned are a bit on the modest side, use the appropriate size screw driver for the job and they wont be an concern :)

It's little, feels fairly durable, and overall just a fantastic little enclosure. Some other reviews have had bad items to say about the screws, on the other hand I have a small screwdriver set and I had no trouble whatsoever with them usb cord is a small short (see other thoughts) usb cord could be longer even so for me, it does not take each of the usb having to be plugged in to get it sufficient energy. So I just use a longer cord I already owned

Kudos to Newegg for shipping promptly and acquiring it to me in brief time. I bought this on a whim to attempt and see if I could salvage a WD laptop drive that my HP refused to recognize soon after 2 years of use. Popped in the drive, it powered up and I now have one more external difficult drive. The tiny screws were a severe PITA to get off to put the drive in. Other than that, absolutely nothing. Excellent value for the income, I would definitely acquire additional in the future if I require a lot more external drives.

works good, good price, like the design of how it looks, nice and small, only problems for people could be the tight screws, may strip and be trapped forever, and also my computer didn't power it up via the usb, i geuss my pc doesn't supply enough power, but it worked on my laptop

I just bought this from NCIX but actually already own one. The one I own I paid $20 for a month ago, but just got another from NCIX for $10. I have no complaints, it does it's job as an external casing for an HDD. It also has a nice minimalist look to it.

Becomes warm when connected to your PC/Laptop for an extended amount of time, but it does not get hot (close to fast food burger warm.)You will need a set of small screwdrivers to remove the screws on the sides of the enclosure. Not a big deal for some users but it can for others.

after spending the entire day troubleshooting this product trying to figure out why my laptop wont recognize it, it turns out that 2 USB ports simply do not supply enough power for make a conventional 5400RPM drive or a low power usage SSD drive work.I was skeptical that USB only power would be enough but after reading all the rave reviews of this thing i figured i would be OK... I was wrong. I wouldn't recommend this drive enclosure to anyone but my worst enemy or maybe my ex-girlfriend. I'm sure other people will blame me or my laptop for being the real problem but its hardly my fault for not having psychic powers nor HP's fault for not equipping my USB port with 20Amps of power just in case acomdata came along and decided to make a product that works better as a paperweight than its intended purpose.bottom line, if you value your time spend the extra money on a enclosure with a separate power source that you know will work.P.s. the only reason i rated this 3 stars instead of 1 star (it should actually get negative stars IMO) is because it demands a order ID when i rate it 1 or 2 stars. the order ID is nowhere to be found of my receipt.

This is a beautiful enclosure. I am very impressed by the look and feel of the drive. The only downside to it is the fact that you have to use a special USB cable. If you try to use anything else it will just beep at you - not fun at all!

This enclosure worked out for me. Other than the two small screws which were a little difficult to unscrew at first, there is no problem so far. I am using a Fujitsu 160GB hd.

Heard a lot of mixed feelings about this enclosure but so far I'm very happy with it, for the price it is a very well built and simple enclosure. The end caps are plastic, but considering the cost it's no big deal and not to mention even though they are plastic they are sturdy. The drive fits snugly inside the case and there is no rattling, should last quite a while.
