This little guy is beautiful. I have read nothing but good about it so i figured i would give it a try. I am impressed. It does a killer job and makes quick work of anything i throw at it so far and does it with grace. All this comes at a great price too. You really cant beat the bang for the buck!!

Cons: none?

Pros: Reasonable compatibility with am2 mobos, fast, economical
Comment:
Bought this to upgrade my son's computer from an x2 3800+ on an Asus M2N-E motherboard. In case anyone's wondering if it works, it does. Flashed the bios first (almost bricked the mobo using the asus update  windows utility - never use it for flashing bios). Fixed the near brick by powering down, unplugging power cable, removing cmos battery and using the cmos reset jumper, put battery back in, power chord in, power up. Then I used the built in bios flash utility in the tools menu of the bios (this is the best way) and flashed from a bios file I'd placed on a usb thumb drive. The old cpu scored 4.6 in windows experience index, the new one scores 5.6. faster games, decent temps even with stock heat sink/fan. Nice cheap upgrade for his aging system.

I like AMD as a whole and have always, thus again I've used this chip in a recent build (a few I believe) and for the price this is a nice little snappy chip. It does run good on games, dvd etc so as a whole with a budget this is perfect.

Cons: no hidden cores, not unlockable.

Pros: Speed, price, versatility, dual core, heat, etc
Comment:
PM'd to around $70, ncix was within a few cents of the cost. Included fan is nice, but I wouldn't be caught dead using it for fear of sound pollution. A decent 120 MM fan on a tower cooler will keep this beyond adequetly cooled while keeping it quiet as well. Replaced an old AM2 4600+ and brought my Win7 score for CPU from a 5.2 to a 6.6 out of a possible 7.9. If you want to game, move on up the ladder to a 4 or 6 core CPU. Alternatively, gamble and get a Black edition that might have a few hidden cores (motherboard permitting) that can be accessed. I don't need to overclock that much and this bad boy meets all my needs for a HTPC without breaking the budget. Nice match.

Cons: None for the price

Pros: Excellent overclocker
Comment:
Excellent overclocking chip. No problems running it at 4 GHz (266 x 15, 1.50 VID, Cooler Master Hyper 212+ cooler). Integrated memory controller (NB) running at 2.4 GHz (266 x 9, +.15 V) and HTT at 2.13 GHz (266 x 8). Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-M785GM-S2H. Of course, individual results may vary. For non-overclockers, the VID of this chip is quite high (1.425 V), and it can be easily undervolted to about 1.25 V.

Built a basic computer. This processor runs good and quiet. I have a AMD Athlon x2 5600, which was really really good and cost me 250$ back in the day, and this low cost processor out performs it. I would strongly recommend this for a basic build. This is even good for gaming.

Cons: You are probably better to replace the thermal compound to help it generates even less heat. For a personnal computer, I would consider replacing the heatsync for a silent fanless one.

Pros: Generates at most only 60W of heat for very little more money while still giving very good performances.
Comment:
I just wanted a good and cheap CPU that didn't generated much heat to help keep the case cooler and gives a better lifelenght and reliability of the fans, PSU and others components. Also, because of the excellent airflow in the case and the better thermal paste I used, I guess that even with a CPU fan failure, the processor would still runs cool enough for staying reliable. The MB would probably downclock it, but that is better than a crashed server. There is also a 45 Watts version (where the quality of the thermal paste probably doesn't matters anymore), but in my case it wasn't worth the added cost.

I purchased this to build a budget gaming system for the kid and am very happy with my decision. I have built hundreds of computers over the years, and for the last several years have usually ended up with AMD, simply because they have the best bang for the buck. No, I am not a fanboy, just a guy who wants to get the most for his money. I have a Phenom II X2 550 in my system, and after reading reviews, and trying it myself, would say this CPU seems just about as fast, for a few dollars less. This CPU, paired with an 8800GT video card and 2GB generic DDR2-800 RAM runs Crysis at 1024 X 768 with everything turned on flawlessly. It would likely run it ok at a higher resolution as well, but he is limited by an old 17 inch CRT monitor. The heatsink/fan is on the small side, but cools this chip just fine. I'm not an overclocker anyways, so don't plan on upgrading.

Pros: Powerfull, quiet, stays cool.
Comment:
Did lots of research before choosing this one. Have it in a Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H with 4 gigs of G.Skill RAM. It runs at ~27 degrees at idle, mid 30s at load. With quiet and cool enabled it throttles down to 800Mhz when the power is not needed and back up instantly as required. I’m not a gamer but everything I do on it runs smoothly, including 1080p playback.A fast and energy efficient upgrade.
