Cons: Length of PCB, Noise

Pros: Price/Performance, Cool, 1GB
Comment:
Upgraded from a GeForce 8800 GS 384MB. Mainly because of the 1GB VRAM for GTAIV high textures.Runs nearly every game at max at 1680x1050 with exceptions being Crysis and GTAIV. Battlefield Bad Company 2, Far Cry 2, Mass Effect 2, Dirt 2, Grid, Command & Conquer 3, Left for Dead 2, and X3 Reunion all run at max with 4xAA/8x or 16xAF. Great Performance. Some minuses are the size of the card and noise level generated by the Zalman VF-830 cooler. The size is full size for a 4850, which considering the custom PCB is disappointing. The cooler, although not a hair dryer, is noticeable over the 3 120mm fans that I have in my Sonata III case. Currently getting a fan controller for it.A nice surprise was the overclockability of the card, especially when voltage is increased via Gigabyte's utility. With the voltage bump OC was possible to 800 for core and 1230 for memory.

Cons: Price, weak memory overclock, one fan speed only

Pros: Decent overclocking, quiet fan at all loads, heatpipe works well
Comment:
Overclocked results to 780 gpu and 1035 mem on stock cooling. Basic open air frame case temps at 34 idle and 55 load on o/c as measured by ATI Tray Tools. Great buy but price almost into the 4870 1gb territory.I originally bought a powercolor 4830 which crapped out after 2 days. Comparing the two the gigabyte is superior but the 4830 was MUCH better value. These cards are memory limited so a nicely overclocked 4830 will run with most 4850s and at half the price.

Cons: - No low profile ramsinks or any sort of mosfet cooling.- Gamerhud limited to gpu oc's, max is 750Mhz- Need 1 more to crossfire :)

Pros: - Fast and stable- Comes with a zalman hs with detachable fan. (beats the operpriced dust clogger vf900)- Gamerhud (voltage adjustments vram only)- Non-reference design (700/993 default)
Comment:
First time owning a gigabyte product and totally impressed with this gfx card. It's nice to be able to play all of my games at 1920x1080 with aa/af to boot. The gfx card runs very cool in a soprano case, 39c/52c idle/load. Outside the case while i first tested the card was 33c/45c idle/load. No overheating problems on this card. The fan is always running full speed but very silent. My only gripe with this card is that, it didn't come with ram sink or mosfet cooling. Will be buying 1 more to crossfire :)
