This is a huge upgrade from my Phenom 1 Quad Core. I've noticed a large leap in terms of FPS on games like Fallout three, Mass Effect 1ǘ and Starcraft 2. I very recommend this processor for anyone seeking to make a very good gaming rig up until the new Bulldozer hits market place. Even then the 975 Deneb might give it a run for its dollars in terms of processing power and gaming restraints. the stock heatsink appears a bit underpowered when dealing with the raw prospective this CPU has. I rather traded it up for the Corsair H70 which is rigged to a X-CLio Windtunnel to offset the H70s huge radiator. So far the H70 has brought out the beast in the CPU, thinking of overclocking. for those acquiring this please don't use the stock heatsink. its underpowered and you may finish up cooking your brand new gaming CPU. As an alternative get either H50/H70 Corsair or a Zalman heatsink

Good if, like me, you don't have a motherboard that supports an intel CPU and can't afford to purchase 1 at the same time you want to get a new CPU. Devastatingly outperformed by a CPU that's only twenty dollars much more (that also comes with an onboard GPU for I dunno, a committed phys-x processor maybe) I genuinely shouldn't have study evaluations comparing these two CPU's right after I had currently bought 1 of them. Sadly for me I can't afford to acquire a new motherboard *and* a new cpu. So i just have to suck it up I guess.

Upgraded from a x3 720BE that ran three.6 @ 1.55vDropped this baby in, greased her up and place the multiplier at 21 and voila, 4.2ghz steady all day long!!! The Scythe Mugen II keeps it under 54c with Arctic Silver compound. I just can get to 4.three, but who cares! Yeah correct Much better RAM or looser memory timings may allow me to get to four.3 through 20.5x210ʁ.55. I'll just save that 1 for a rainy day. =)

The quickest stock Deneb ever. Certainly, a nice upgrade opportunity for AM3.AM2+ M/B. Fine CPU to go for the vast majority of persons. In terms of speed it is fully equivalent to the very first generation quad core Intel Core i5 - 760 at stock frequency three.6 GHz. Deserves 5 eggs definitely in the nomination "How to squeeze out the aging CPU tech at maximum at the same TDP". Plus one particular can use the unlocked multiplier to get a tiny much more speed (around three.7 GHz -three.eight GHz even on stock voltage, I think). Overpriced a small. Need to price about 赔 to be more attractive. This is not fair in principle to examine this CPU with Sandy Bridge, due to the fact Deneb is old enough and no one can count on any miracles from it - it began selling in Jan 2009; I had the initially one, Phenom II 940 previously. This 1 is just the newest, and, very most likely, the last a single, due to the fact Bulldozer (FX) for AM3+ is supposed to come soon. 3.6 is an nice frequency to finish, starting from three. WITH Basically THE Same MFG TECH AND TDP. A small bit old tech, but nonetheless will be affordable for a common use for about two years in the future, if you are not pursuing the benching /overclocking records.

Very rapid! Greatest AMD Quad CPU for gaming that is at the moment accessible. Scored 7.4 on Windows Expertise Index and raised my Heaven Benchmark score by 12.five%. I threw each "demanding" game at it and it sailed by way of Crysis, Modern Warfare two, Battlefield Terrible Co. two, Black Ops, & Medal of Honor without having a flaw. Ran Prime95 64 bit overnight and temps under no circumstances exceeded 52C鲽F). AMD shines after more! None I've by no means used stock CPU coolers. I have a Zalman 9500A on this and it idles at 34C...52C below a load.My Rig:Coolermaster HAF 932Phenom II x4 Black Edition 975 3.six GHzZalman 9500A CoolerAsus M4N98TD EVOCorsair Dominator 8GB 1333Corsair HX850w PSUAsus ENGTX460DirectCU/TOPǘDI x2 in SLIKingston ssdNOW V+ 64 GBWestern Digital Caviar Black 750 GB x 3*by the way...all bought from Newegg!I'd definately rate Neweggs service at 6 eggs!

Pretty rapid. Not horrid pricing. Cool at idle. Heats up speedily beneath load. Heatsink fan is cheap and squeaks. Suggest the 970 or 965 more than this. Likely would acquire once more, but with the cost distinction, the 965 and 970 must actually be considerations.

to the very first reviewer of the product i, can understand that perhaps the new processors from Intel are very good for the value. but you bought this one particular and you purchased it without having getting to buy a new mother board and my guess something ells. acquiring a new processor type Intel signifies new motherboard and in some peoples cases, if you want to get the greatest out of the chip therefore that's why you bought it, also RAM. But that's not my pint. I'm certain you weren't expecting a big difference in improvement over the preceding two phenoms. you didn't even evaluation the item you just bashed it. if you were weren't prepared to pay for a new motherboard and processor from Intel or wait a couple far more months for the bulldozer from AMD than the least you can do is essentially critique the product you decided to get and give an correct description of how it handled within your expectations, not what it is compared to one thing ells you don't even own. from what i see AMD is attempting to get rid of as numerous older processors as the new one is soon to come out. which in quite a few peoples situations its fantastic the final years processors which are a lot more than sufficient for the majority are going to be able to construct a extremely affordable and fast personal computer. for the rest of us it indicates temptation over the revisioned more rapidly old vs. the upcoming new. personally as soon as bulldozer arrives my guess is that phenoms 955 and 965 are going to drop down in value and also the 6 core phenoms 1090t and 1100t. perfect chance to construct a fantastic computer with this processors without having obtaining to spend a bunch of dollars. from what i can tell they can take care of almost everything nicely, games and all. a few much less fps in a game or seconds off encoding isnt going to kill me. unless you are trying to impress your pals than there's no point. my opinion although. absolutely everyone has theirs and i respect it just give some beneficial information as effectively considering that it is a assessment.

Quad core cpu at 3.6ghz, with lots of OC headroom. Fairly simple installation. None I purchased this to replace my 955, because I am using that processor in a new build for a buddy. Installing it in my HAF 932 was a breeze, and I was right away able to clock this baby up to 4.1ghz with MSI's OC Genie. Like a lot of people today, I wasn't sold yet on the Phenom II X6 cpu's, specially given that most gaming benches I've seen favor the X4's. This will very easily hold me gaming for very a whilst, and at its 189.99 price, I couldn't resist. If your operating a Phenom II X4 955 or below, I extremely recommend receiving this cpu. Good upgrade for my AM3 technique. My earlier processor is a Phenom II X4 970, so this is a pretty tiny upgrade but I had to have it :) My Fritz Chess Benchmark score has gone up from 17.56 to 18.05 though. Woo-hoo! Rapidly fast rapid Given the competition, I would like to see this a bit cheaper but oh well. Also, my previous Phenom II X4 970 idles at .86V, this a single idles at .99V, so a small more power hungry and a bit hotter. Removing my PII X4 970 cooler (Scythe Katana) from my motherboard (Asus Crosshair IV Formula) pulled the processor correct out of the ZIF socket with out having to lift up the arm issue, bending various pins in the method :(. Not certain who to blame for this... Asus for the ZIF socket, or Arctic Cooling for creating their thermal paste to sticky. Or could just be negative luck... oh nicely.

Simply overclocked to four.2 GHZ stable on air. I'm fairly positive you could probably get to four.5 or far better water cooled. I got a clean post at four.3, just couldn't maintain it stable. The 6 core might be a far better cpu overall but if your a gamer this is the way to go due to the fact there are no present positive aspects in gaming for 6 cores and it's easier to push this CPU to greater speeds. You might be able to produce similiar or quite close clock speeds on the x4 970. This is the very best factor for gaming AMD has to offer at least until the Bulldozer hits and all we can do is speculate on that until we see some evaluations.

All intense gamers need to have this processor, packs really the punch. The heatsink that comes with it is difficult as hell to clip on the motherboard. To get it on put the side with the lock on initially and then force down the other side, trust me it won't break but your not going to be able to lock it simply because it's tight sufficient already.

Excellent looking FAN/heatsink assembly - not but able to run the CPU - see Cons:/Other Thoughts: for the reason why. BIOS Problems with HP/Compaq's H-Apricot-RS780L-uATX Motherboard - Let me be quite clear - This is an HP issue, not an AMD challenge, and not a NewEgg challenge. Fix is supposed to be coming by Mid-May per HP Tech Support - So if you own a Presario CQ5720F Desktop method - this CPU does not yet function - but is promised to be supported with an upcoming BIOS update. HP spec sheets for the motherboard mentioned it was supported... but apparently it was not. Not a reason to steer clear of this CPU - just some thing to be aware of. This is a fairly new CPU - HP was apparently, or is now, conscious of the dilemma for the H-Apricot-RS780L-uATX motherboard utilized in the CQ5720F system. NewEgg did a terrific job on delivery - therefore they get 5-stars.

I've noticed my computer's been quite a bit quicker since my upgrade. I upgraded from an Athlon X2 6400+ 3.2GHz, and I think this is a great processor for the price. I decided not to go with the 6 core phenom for price reasons and the fact that gaming won't take full advantage of all cores at this time. My decision was a good one, as I see a pretty good performance increase in gaming now.
