Holds drives nicely. Quiet fan. Considerably cheaper than hot-swap units. None for the price No, it isn't a #-ware hot-swap cage, but for what you spend for this, it is a solid tiny expansion cage. The fan isn't silent, but is reasonably quiet, the black matches my case just fine. All in all, just a good small drive bay that does precisely what it says it will - squeeze an further drive into space you're almost certainly not even using.

Comments: Great way to use added 5.25" drive bay space. Fan is quiet, too.I installed three WD RAID edition SATA drives in this unit into a situation with adequte ventilation. The center drive will run a bit warm under heavy use. Wise reported 57C in a 72F area.

Fits into two 5.25" slots as promised, good dust filter up front. How did they fit three hard drives into this? Must have been the seriously slim low capacity drives. Expensive! Fan was also loud, had to replace it with a quieter fan. If you don't thoughts replacing the fan and shelling out 24 bucks for this then get it. A related item that only occupies two 5.25" slots is hard to locate.

If you have tricky drives that are operating hot and two free 5.25" bays, these are the solution. I run a pair of WD Raptors in one particular of these that are 30C when idle and 32C when active. I purchased my 1st unit about 8 years ago below a diverse make/model and the style hasn't changed much more than the years. The 80mm fan is good and quiet compared to regular 40mm fans and the air flow across the drives is generous. Replacing a drive requires a very good bit of dissassembly. You have to disconnect all drives, eliminate the unit from the situation, remove the guide rails (if utilised), then you can finally get at the drive to alter it out. Still, that's a minor inconvenience given that this unit keeps your drives cool (which extends their lifespan). The only time you must will need to pull this unit is to upgrade to a bigger tricky drive (instead of having to swap out a drive that died from heat exhaustion). I'd recommend not placing much more then two challenging drives in these units. That will give you a lot of airflow across both tricky drives. Even if the 80mm fan fails, the drives will not instantaneously cook like they would if you had installed 3 drives.

Cram 3 fan cooled drives into two five-1ǘ bays? What a lot more can you ask? Oh yeah! - a fold out door for changing the filter...BRILLIANT! Hmmm...I guess it would have been good to get a second fan filter...I don't know where I will get yet another when this one is shreds from a couple years of use. Worth just about every penny. Does precisely what I was hoping for.

excellent for employing 3 hard drives in 2 optical bays. fan offers great cooling, loud fan can be exchanged for quieter one. fan filter is helpful for keeping out dust. door for fan filter is very good, far better than other similar items that need sliding a cover out. holes are drilled accurately and difficult drives fit correct. fan could be louder than expected, door appears a bit flimsy, operates excellent, great price, would like to see a 5 drive, 3 bay version or 1 incorporating two.5in drives

Solid built and fan works. Fan is noisy when you flip the front cover down and not worth ส when you could get a iCage for about $eleven dollers. UPS rocks for the region we live in.

Comments: Just installed the bracket into my backup storage machine. Was worried that I would have to adjust the case for the bracket to fit, but it worked out just fine. Looks like a truly excellent item; will get another on my next HD acquire because I've already filled this a single up.

* Keeps the drives cool* Flexible hard drive configuration * Plastic front cover is not extremely sturdy I purchased this to cool two WD 2TB drives in a RAID 1 config for my house server. I didn't have a fan on the drives ahead of but this thing cooled them from 113 F to 95 F. If you are working with this in a desktop application where it is going to be setting correct beside you, obtaining a quieter fan must also be on your buy list. This is a excellent item for a distinctive circumstance.

I use two of these iStorm7's when developing 2U rackmount computers to deploy in datacenters. I can mount three IDE SATA drives on every single side for two - five.25" spaces. So I use 6 SATA drives total in a RAID Ư configuration with ASUS workstation motherboards. I don't require a floppy or CD-ROM in a rackmount server that is remotely deployed.The fans are high high quality and themselves are quiet. None. I've applied these for more than two years. In a tower or desktop case, the plastic covers and filters are ideal. In a rackmount datacenter deployment, just take of the plastic covers so these drive cages are extremely universal. The metal is plenty sturdy when bolted to the case and drives to eliminate harmonic vibration of the drives.

Comments: I like every thing about these items, except that with 3 drives installed, there's no room among them for airflow. Kinda hard to air-cool something without an air-gap. May well try unique fans (these are quiet, but not the highest CFM accordingly) to see if that helps. Presently I went back to two drives per bracket, which is nonetheless far better than having useless five.25" bays.

Comments: There are 5 sets of holes to attach difficult drives: 3 difficult drives can be installed with some space between them or you can install two drives staggered with lots of space in between them. Mounting holes on the side are in the same positon as those of a CD/DVD drive; so it can be installed with drive rails if your case utilizes them.

Cools my harddrives very effectively, not as loud as I believed it would be, filtered None so far. I have two harddrives mounted in this factor and it cools incredibly well, but it looks like if I would mount three, which is its stated maximum, it would probably be way too crowded and would heat up regardless of the fan.

Inexpensive. I just purchased six of these for some RAID machines I am putting together, and they cam with the three pin power connector instead of the 4 pin molex that was in the picture and that the prior ones I've owned had. I'm incredibly disappointed.

I didn't have any challenge mounting these in my method (an iStar D-400 chassis). Just make sure that your drive bays don't have any metal "fingers" separating every single section. The fan doesn't appear too loud and it moves a lot of air. Bear in mind that there is a filter which will aid mute a bit of noise and you want a powerful fan to overcome the extra resistance of the air filter.My unit came with a three-pin fan and a 3-pin to four-pin adapter. I prefer the three-pin fan due to the fact it supplies tach monitoring. As one reviewer mentioned, the cost is a bit high for "just a fan and bracket", but I feel that the additional ventilation more than my hard drives is worth it. Today's high capacity hard drives all seem to run hot, so I like to be able to have a fan directly in front of them. It can be tough to uncover instances with this design and this bracket solves that issue.A 120mm fan may possibly have been nicer (more air and much less noise), but that would have necessary three drive bays of height.

Comments: I need to have to install 6 challenging drives in four slots. I didn't want the expense of hot swap drive bays. Most of the mounts are for SATA which makes sense but needed a low-cost IDE solution. I have a SX6000 Raid in a NAS I'm creating. Put it in a Enlight EN 7280 case, fit and finish looks excellent and performs nicely.

Very happy with this product. Building a system that was missing two of the 5.25 drive covers and was just needing to cover the hole and add cooling. Very impressed with the quality and the price was excellent.

I recently built a freenas server with 2 Tera byte HDD. The computer is on 24 7 this keeps the temp right around 22C to 30C. Since the drives have been in this the temp has never gone above 30C. must have if you have HDD heating problems. The customer service is amazing as well.

I have purchased a lot of items from TD, but never left any reviews, but I've always been satisfied with my purchases. I had to write a review for this one! I've only had it installed for 2 days, but HD temps have dropped drastically. Before, my HD's ran at 48'C and 45'C. Now they stay at 36 and 35 with filter. Both stay at 33 when filter is removed. Excellent product. I recommend this to anyone who wants their HD's to stay cool and last longer.

Out of all the products I have got from TD (going on $3000.. Ouch) This is one of the most useful things I have ever got. The only reason why I got it in the 1st place was just to test it out and now I know when I build my next PC this case fan will be ordered the same day I order anew case. I have the Apevia X-Jupiter Jr Case and I find that im hurting alil for room. With this case fan I was able to get rid of the bottem 3.5'' drive bays and now I have a MUCH better air flow going into my case. I got 2 HDs in this lil badboy, one of them being a raptor and there room between them for ANOTHER HD fan. If you care about space/airflow/looks/your raptor HD, get this case fan.

Works great on my older case. I moved both HDs to the 5.25 bays and left the middle slot on this mounting unit open for air flow. Now my HDs have a cooling fan and the cool air from the bottom front case fan has a clear path to my video card. With this unit I have 2 - 80mm fans blowing cool air in from the front and 2 blowing warm air out the back of the case along with the 130mm fan in the power supply. My case has 4 - 5.25 drive bays accessible from the front. The top holds my DVD combo, the second holds my 4-fan controller so I can keep the temp and the noise under control and this unit occupies the bottom 2. The move eliminated all my cooling problems running an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ and an 8800 GTS card.
