Cons: Setup seemed more difficult than necessary

Pros: Does exactly what it claims to.
Comment:
This booster is awesome. No question it is absolutely worth the money. The wireless setup, however, did not work for me. Luckily the unit has an outlet for a standard ethernet adapter. Wired setup was quick and easy and after setup the wireless works perfectly.

Cons: Setup a little finicky.

Pros: Signal strength, good build quality, multiple ways to configure.
Comment:
First off these things work great once setup, and they don't experience any issues reconnecting if your network goes down if/when you tinker with it. The one issue I ran into when configuring is getting them to sync with my router, I had the units placed within a few feet of the router but could not get them to connect. When they say to put the repeater as close to the router as possible, they really mean as close as possible. When positioned directly side by side it finally worked, odd that a mere foot away would cause it to not work. Other than that they work great once you have them set up.

This may be the most frustrating single gadget I have ever had, and that is saying something after 40 years on the bleeding edge of technology. I must have walked back and forth to my neighbor's house 100 times to try to get a 'lock' on her router. It works sometimes, but loses the signal if it rains, if the power goes off, or sometimes if someone walks near it. It also does not like some people, and will not work for them, so I have to do the setup for my other neighbor's unit too. When I find an extender which actually works the way it is supposed to, I will happily smash this thing with a large hammer.

I got this device to create a stronger signal throughout my Apt. Setup was daunting as I constantly received the dreaded survey site not found message. I researched the issue and found a work around, now I'm happy with the results

This extender was a little tricky using my laptop to run the setup software. It kept changing my network settings on the laptop for some reason making it a headache, but it was all sorted out within reasonable time. The router is in the house, the extender in an outbuilding, and my complaint is despite being 10 feet from the extender my laptop wants to keep using the connection it had in the house when I carry it to the out building while on. Other wireless devices only find the wireless router still but I'll blame that hardware over the extender personally. I was expecting a little more seamless application, but perhaps I don't know what I'm doing with this device completely to be honest so I need to research I'm using it properly before complaining. Despite my other hardware issues, its performance is stellar and a weak signal in the outbuilding is now an excellent one so the extender is performing great in my opinion.

This is bad product. I tried to get to set up with my Linksys 150NT router. well, i never sync up and tried using the disk but that did not help either. Tried to temporarily plug it to the router the Advisor never pickup the new devices. Tried manually entering the pass phrase key . NO luck. I will shipping it back for a refund. I wish Linksys would make a better range extender.

I expected to get better performance from the device. I bearley got one additional bar on the signal strength. May work well in a warehouse but didn't fair well for an office environment.

I was really disapointed with the product. I returned it. It was difficult to set up, more than any other device. I find it really expensive for the poor range increase it gives. Think twice before buying.. Get a New router instead with a built-in better range!

Works really well. A small cost compared to having to relocate a router and a cable modem in my home. I however needed the assistance of a Linksys tech to set up the unit: 90 minutes on the phone to locate and circumvent the bug.

Purchased this to extend the range of my wireless network from one end of building to the other. Worked great for about 3 months, then suddenly stopped working. Period. Linksys would not replace. $90.00 is a lot of money for 90 days of use. Would NEVER buy from linksys again.

Should have done a google search before I bought it. Many other users and I have the same problem: setup wizard dosen't work! I kept on getting the message -site survey failed. And Linksys doesn't have any software update for it.

I share wireless with a neighbor across the street. Her router is inside her house near a window. I put this extender in a window facing her house. Without it, I get a Very Poor connection. With it, I get a Good connection, and that's good enough for me.

I have two of these little range extenders and they both worked perfectly right out of the box. We use them to send our wireless signal to the building next to our main office with no problems.

Just installed one of these for a client. He had a router in a garage, and a desktop in his basement. Starting signal was around 18%. Distance about, 100ft. Concrete walls. Plugged the unit in, put the CD in. Setup within 2 minutes. Signal went to 70%. The end. Worth the cost? I dont think so. I wished the client would of let me tear the box open to see the guts of the unit. You could probably make one in your garage. Yes it was a quick fix for a bad zone. But according to all of these reviews, how long will it last?

We have a DLink wireless N router in the bonus room home office and were unable to get a signal on the wireless laptop in the family room. Thought the Linksys range extender might help but it only functioned for a short while before losing the network connection. I have had to re-run setup for the range booster, and more often than not, it fails to recognize the router. For the price I would have expected more.

I ordered this wireless expander from LinkSys because I had a LinkSys router and wanted ease of installation and compatability. After an hour of trying to get through the installation steps, without success, I called tech support. I could not understand the first tech rep and she finally transferred me to another rep that I could understand. After 3 hours of hit and miss stuff the range expander finally began working. The problem, all along, was my router is set up unsecured; however, to gain access to my wireless network I must enter the MAC address of the computer needing access into the MAC address filter. The tech reps, undoubtedly, don't work on this type set up often and after repeated attempts to make the tech rep understand my setup, she had me put the MAC address of the range expander in the MAC address filter and it hooked up immediately. No problem since then.

I purchased this product thinking it would be the end all to my wireless headaches and I found out very quickly it wasn't worth what I paid for it. I managed to get this thing working after two hours messing around with the settings only to have it lose connection to my 2WIRE router 30 minutes later. The product doesn't tell you in bold lettering that it's actual transmission rate is 50% lower than it's recieve rate so if you put this thing in your living room and close your door in your bedroom where you PC is the connection is pretty much gone. Don't waste your time or money on this thing. It's a complete piece of junk.

I received myLinksys extender yesterday (about $80 ppd) and found out that I had to install software, first. Then I found out that I had to try to configure it to my router, which is a 2WIRE router. Nothing in any ad or material says you have to have a Linsys router to make this work properly out of the box. I spent 3.5 hours, six phone calls (kept getting cut off or sent to and endless loop of pre-recording), deftly avoiding an additional $70 fee from a separate tele-tech service company, and a lot of panic when my laptop stopped receiving any signal from any router, and a lot of saying, ''Can you speak more slowly and clearly?'' and confirming info.--name, address, phone number--AND a $9.95 charge for the help, but I finally got it to work. Amount of extended signal beyond previous limit--aboutg 25 feet. This product is a rip-off.

Installed unit with no problems, and have been very happy with the preformance. I am using my Son's network, his house is 300 foot from my house, this unit is saving me around 50 bucks a month. This is a nice savings to a retired couple Thanks for a nice peice of engineering.

It's great. Easy to set up, etc. The only issue I have is that if you are using more than one and need to set up different static IP addresses, the online interface doesn't like connecting to anything other than the default address (192.168.1.240). The other issue, which is just niggly, is that these are more expensive than the Linksys router I bought to use with them. Kind of silly.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR8 item guys, try it out!! Well, i know this review is WAYYY late but i bought one of these products from Tin 2004 before Hurricane Katrina hit. Worked like a champ and then a storm was coming (Katrina) and we had to leave my home. Packed up some cloths and my computers and left, 6 weeks later we were allowed to come back home and i had 7 feet of water inside the house which was very bad. We ended up living in a FEMA trailer and bought Hughes net internet service with wireless router. Wasnt getting enough signal so i thought about my Range expander and went into my flood soaked home and pulled it from the outlet. (YES) it was still plugged into the outlet with 7 feet of water Cleaned the mud stains from it and figured i would plug it in to see if it works and POOF its working like a champ and i still have it today!! I am a die hard fan of Linksys from now on!!!
