Cons: nothing...

Pros: Good price, nice drivers and very good overall
Comment:
Very nice card ! I upgraded from my 5.1 rocketfish and it is awesome for my 7.1. I wanted to buy a 7.1 soundcard for the razer Tiamat 7.1, but I didn't get the chance to test it, because Tiamat are still Back order.I didn't want to pay a lot for a soundcard and I was really surprise ! so many options and drivers and it work very good. There are so many other soundcards that cost more for less options and quality.I recommend this sound card ! if you need a 7.1 card just go ahead and buy one of these !

Cons: None really

Pros: Inexpensive, way better than on board
Comment:
I wanted the newer chipset so I bought this instead of the other cheaper model. It works fine, saves my CPU from having to process the audio

Cons: No noticeable improvement from listening to mp3s

Pros: upgradable op-amp chiplow profile
Comment:
Haven't have a chance to try this out in games yet but there aren't any improvement i have noticed from listening to music. I have ASUS P5Q pro mobo and it is supposedly High Def sound so maybe that's why. I believe onboard sound is just as good as sound card unless it so very high quality headphone and sound card.

Cons: No SPDIF input. No technology for headphones.

Pros: Great drivers, useful software, DTS Connect, Great sound quality.
Comment:
I upgraded to this after being fed up with Creative poor drivers and spotty Dolby Digital Live support on my Audigy Platinum. For $36 after rebate this is a great buy. Windows 7 x64 drivers downloaded from Asus' webstie were a quick and easy install. The software package included with the drivers is useful and intuitive. DTS Interactive works like a charm and sounds great. From a pragmatic standpoint, it works the same as Dolby Digital Live. You check a box in the Audio Center and it starts outputting a DTS signal to your receiver. I can't think of a reason of why you would need Dolby Digital Live and DTS Interactive, so not having Dolby Digital Live support on this card isn't really a downside. SPDIF input would have been nice, and there is no support for technologies such as Dolby Headphone or DTS Surround Sensation. If you plan to use mostly headphones, maybe look somewhere else. However for $36 after rebate, its hard to complain. Note: I have only tested the sound quality using the SPDIF out, I cannot speak for the sound quality of the analog output.

Cons: Utilities are pretty limited. Not as many features as higher end cards, naturally. Some problem with card and front panel headphone jack required a reinstall.

Pros: Cheap, especially as open-box.Easy to install and work with. Some good concepts in the design/software.
Comment:
For a cheap card, this works well. It obviously isn't as loaded as higher end models, but it's better than on-board sound and a quick install. If you're not too picky, this is definitely worth a look.

I got this to upgrade from a Creative Labs sound card. I am very pleased with the crisp sounds from music and the sounds I did not hear in my games with the other sound card. The only thing I that needs work is the volume output, it will not turn up as loud as my other card. I wish they would update the drivers for this card.

Cons: Volume has to be at 50 percent or distortion occurs

Pros: Good sound quality for music uses same sound processor as higher end xonar cards for half priceCan output two channel to my headphones or speakers while subcutaneously outputting optical to my receiver. This is great as on my other sound cards I would have to switch options in the control panel to switch sources
Comment:
Having owned an m-audio revolution and comparing to my new asus motherboard onboard audio this was a definite upgrade.TO the user who said upgrading his headphones made a difference, yes headphones make a difference they are part of the equation, if you have cheap headphones you wont get great sound. This card however does produce an upgrade in audio depending what your coming from. Also this card was confirmed to be a stripped down version of more expensive xonar cards which are known for their sound quality. From the asus xonar board"The DS uses the AVS200 audio processor - as found on many of the more expensive models. It just has less features - no Dolby for e.g"Its amazing sometimes how price and placebo effect can sway user opinions. For music this card is a no brainer, low cost, excellent sound quality, i output flac music at 44.1khz

OK nice sound card once I got it working. I installed it on an asus motherboard. I recommend when installing it with window 7. You avoid frustration, ignore the CD with drivers, go online and download the drivers from there. It is not compatable right out of the box. The Drivers from the disc cause many issues. A tip. If you are using window 7. And insist on using the disc. Once you install the drivers from there you will have to go in and turn off all start up. Reboot, go to the companys websight download and install both patches then restart the computer. From experience this was the only way to be able to use the computer. Without shutting off all start ups you will not have use of your computer past opening the desktop. But on the good side, it has excellent sound and the software is actually useful once you figuire it out. Be patient if you purchase this sound card and installing it with window 7. You will need to take a few extra steps to install them to get in

I bought this card to move away from a certain other company's bad business practices. While Asus is relatively new to the sound card market, they are doing a good job of offering some competition. Even though this is the entry level offering from Asus, it is packed with features. You won't notice anything missing from the drivers and it is fully compatible with Win7 x64. The system Asus uses to emulate EAX in Win7 works well, and it runs behind the scenes and automatically. The only configuration involved is pushing a button on the control panel. With a little fine tuning to the drivers and control panel, this would be a near perfect sound card.

Cons: finger printers found on the new product.

Pros: Not particular
Comment:
Not huge improvement on sound quality if you already have a better headphone. My Sennheiser CX300 headphone gives more result than upgrading this card. After I open the package I found finger printers on the product.

This is my first sound card I got and it is great. works like a charm on win7 x64. It might not be as good as the Asus Xonar DX card but its good for most. I read reviews on it and it matches or is better then Creative's XtremeGamer card in sound. I love it, it was a replacement for my bad onboard Creative sound card. I had popping issues and annoying screeching sounds from the onboard sound like most Creative XiFis do on Nvidia motherboards. The DS sounds 60 times better then my onboard audio, deeper bass, cleaner and louder. I wished it had more features like Dolby 7.1 Headphone Technology. the Asus driver software is lacking polishing of the main look. but good card for the buck.
