Cons: None

Pros: Great HD for the price for a budget build
Comment:
Great price for capcity. Placed this hard drive into a very budget build for my mother in law. Was probably an over kill for her needs but for the price, it was great

500GB Western Digital Caviar Green SATAII-300 IntelliPower 32Mb OEM
Cons: Slower than a WD blue or Black

Pros: Quiet, power efficient
Comment:
I purchased this drive and I am using it in a Vantec USB 2.0 external enclosure. It is perfect for that role. You get the same performance as other drives because of the limitation of the USB 2.0 spec, but with a lot less heat and noise.

Cons: none

Pros: Good price, lots of storage

Works good just like any other 500G hard drive, its green so it uses less power which is good. 500 gigs is more than enough for the average user.

500GB Western Digital Caviar Green SATAII-300 IntelliPower 32Mb OEM
Cons: - Little bit of 'drone noise' heard when room is silent, but that is to be expected from a HDD

Pros: - Cool- Quiet
Comment:
Using as a DVR HDD with a 6131 receiver. Plugged directly into the 6131 when received without issues. Runs cool and quiet with Nexstar CX case. 66hrs of HD and 400+hrs of SD recording. Scheduled recordings of HD shows play back perfectly without lags or slow downs of any sort. Pause, RWD, FWD, and random recording work flawlessly.

500GB Western Digital Caviar Green SATAII-300 IntelliPower 32Mb OEM
Cons: -Constantly parks and unparks its heads after 8 seconds of inactivity, which can become annoying and might shorten the life of your hard disk-Spins slower, so that also mean less performance from it compared to a Blue series

Pros: -The most silent hard disks from Western Digital-Spins slower, so vibrates less
Comment:
Yes they're quiet, but i wouldn't buy this for a primary hard disk that contains your system files (OS, drivers installed, etc...), not because it's a bit slower, but because the Green series have something called "IntelliPower", that parks and unparks your hard disk heads after 8 seconds of inactivity, and that, in your SpeedFan SMART monitoring, make the "Load Cycle Count" increase dramatically. In 3 weeks, my counts increased un to over 1400, that's crazy. Plus everytime it parks, you can hear the clicking it does...which makes you worry about how many months/years it will be able to hold before it dies...Don't even try that "wdidle3" trick on it, i tried it and the hard disk started to parks and unparks and made my OS lags like hell, so i went back to put turn this feature back on as it was, before it broke...Green hard disks for me? never again. For you? use this only for storage, that's the only thing i can recommend for this Green series...

I'm using this as a HDD for my Shaw PVR. Works great, it quiet (so not distracting) and it didn't cost me much. I am totally satisfied. If you are looking for a high performance drive for gaming though, I would recommend a Western Digital "Black".

Cons: None Yet..here's hoping none in distant future.

Pros: Price On Sale, Quiet, Temp.
Comment:
I found this drive really really quiet compared to 500GigAAKs drive I have in one of my gaming rigs. Not that my AAKs is noisy par for the odd tick tick but this AADs was whisper IMO. Again I've been more a Seagate man but I've bent with WD before so I'm ok with them and their reliability...atleast on builds I've done.

I use this as external and it works perfectly fine. The speed is as expected, and it is extremely quiet and uses little heat. I would recommend this to anyone in the market for a quiet, stable hard drive. I've used WD hard drives my entire life and they have never failed me once.

500GB Western Digital Caviar Green SATAII-300 IntelliPower 32Mb OEM
Cons:no idea

Pros:low power, was $50 during christmas/boxing week sale, low heat, no audible noise in an enclosure next to a noisy desktop, very cost effective. Packaging was simple OEM anti-static bag. Runs just fine in an Acomdata Samba Radiant Red usb 2.0 enclosure.
Comment:
using this for external storage. Havn't had a problem with it so nothing to complain about. Considered a low power value drive meant for backup storage not really for heavy OS use.

500GB Western Digital Caviar Green SATAII-300 IntelliPower 32Mb OEM
Cons:Failure

Pros:None. Expect the failure and conditioned to accept the meager time frame they function
Comment:
Bought 2 and installed both. One failed in 20 days. Expecting the other to fail as well. Forced to buy 2 of everything and back up multiple times to avoid the inevitable failure. Very poor quality. Phone support jumps right into replacement RMA at higher price than paid Replacement great if you like the world to have all your data after sending back the failed drives. Never like writing negative points but this is well deserved.
