AFT XM5U All-in-one USB 2.0 Card Reader
Comment:
The USB port functions. Does not operate following a while. This is an update for my overview on threeቭ񳏈. My reader no longer reads the cards. I put the card in the icon turns to color the red light flashes to show activity by when i try to access the card it says card can\'t be located. This is my second card. Following three tries the green light goes out and the reader can no longer be accessed till a challenging reboot. Im using the ideal drivers for the icons for the XM5U from their internet site, also this does not function in Vista 64 ultimate due to the unsigned drivers, you can disable enforced driver singing in the CMD prompt but a single shouldn't have to do this for a uncomplicated card reader.Utilizing an Abit IP 35 + 4GB Kingston DDR2 HyperX 1066 RAM.Im going to try one more brand like Rosewill, never again will i obtain one more AFT device.

No adapters for the smaller cards, like microSD. Supports SDHC. Inserting microSD cards is scary! It's all as well effortless miss the slot and have it swallowed up by the greater xD slot. It's already occurred to me once. It's a very good no-frills card reader... none of the additional bells and whistles you see in a bay device. A card reader nowadays is a great use for a three.5" slot. I've ditched the floppy for the very first time, and I don't assume I'll look back.

it performs Acess light is on all the time. It ought to only go on when you insert a card, and flash in the course of access. Why can't somebody make a decent card reder? icon software program is dysfunctional, don't install it.

In my opinion it's the ideal card reader on the marketplace. I searched extensively for a card reader that reads the new high capacity cards. I haven't located one that reads as several devices as this one. And definitely couldn't locate an additional at such an cost-effective price. None. I own an older AFT USB two. Pro-9 a number of card reader with a 1394 firewire port. In no way had a challenge with it. Sadly, it doesn't reader the new higher capacity cards. The AFT XM-5U is just as reputable as my Pro-9 and it has an additional USB port.

Reads and writes to SDHC incredibly quick; supports every USB device I've tried; LED -does not- stay on when pc is off. USB port was a tiny finicky -- had to re-seat the internal USB connectors a couple of instances, but now it operates. SD cards don't slide in quite neatly, so you have to aim head-on. This is a excellent reader, not substantially of a hassle to install or use. It operates beneath Complete-Speed Legacy USB two. help (up to 12mbps). You'll get applied to the idiosyncrasies of the card slots!Custom icons for Windows XP are a good touch -- make certain to get them at the URL indicated in the manual.

Looks great, blue LED matches those on my current Pc case. It began to die after just a handful of months. Sometimes SD slot worked, sometimes not. Following a couple additional months it never worked. USB port still operates. Will be shopping for one more option replacement now.

AFT XM5U All-in-one USB 2.0 Card Reader
Comment:
Ideal for my Computer. This has a MicroSD card entrance without having an adapter. My old card reader (Sabrent) goes dead if two cards are plugged in at after, even though this one particular shows each or all cards. Functions with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Foxconn Renaissance MB. At initially, there was a slow startup on Windows and BIOS, which was annoying, but decided to maintain it in the situation plugged in, as i necessary a card reader like this. After a while startup came back to regular, which was an approximate 10-15 seconds of loading. The drivers took a while to install, but right after they install, startup will resume to normal as was just before.NOTE: DO NOT TRUST THE Particular person WHO SAYS THAT THIS IS 4mb/s AS THAT IS FALSE, THIS IS Significantly Faster. This is just like the Kiosk reader produced by AFT as properly, except it does not have the colors and requires up one particular USB slot. Most reviews for this product are undesirable such as "eats Micro SD" and "blinding light." These are false, my Micro SD is not stuck and at least twoǙ of it is out of the reader. The blue light is NOT BLINDING nor is it a laser. If you need a single that performs and don't genuinely care about the annoying initial installation then get this. Also, if you have a situation with screwless design, this this is lengthy and will not wobble about(my old one (Sabrent in NZXT Apollo did).Note:The blue light stays on due to the fact your motherboard continuously provides it energy. If you have an older board (AGP-era) then the light will not stay on when your Computer is off. But simply because several are employing this for new builds, the light WILL stay on until physically pulled from the USB connector on the MB.

Reads nearly all cards, SDHC support, capable to read Micro SD, MiniSD and Memory Stick Pro with no the annoying adapters. reads crazy fast and writes even quicker, compatible with Prepared Boost on Vista utilizing flash cards. Cards don't go in upsidedown. red activity light USB functions good, even though i dont use USB drives that considerably. It looks great in an Antec nine hundred the XD slot is hungry, do not make the mistake and feed it your micro SD card, it is really easy to place it in there by mistake. the green light stays on although right after a though you will hardly notice it, if you don't like it just cover it with a black piece of electrical tape, no official drivers for icons so in order to get the icons just install the ones for the XM-28U from their internet site, they will perform cause thats what im utilizing. this is my second one. the first 1 shorted out the reader aspect of the card when i followed the directions that stated in order to install the icons, unplug and replug the reader from the motherboard to restart the device. RMA and learned my lesson, on the second card i just did a challenging reboot. all operates effectively now.tested on both Vista Ultimate X86 and windows Xp Pro X86, Abit IP35 Pro, Q6600 OC 2.8Ghz, 2GB DDR2 Vital Lanfest PC2 6400 OC 1040Mhz five-5-five-15-30-2T two.2V,

Atech top quality at an inexpensive price. Two face plates. Considering it expense much less than a penny, Atech need to incorporate mounting screws. The XM-5U 26-in-one particular replaces the XM-4U which was 11-in-a single. No drivers necessary unless you want icons for the various drives, you'll need to check out Atech internet site to get them. Atech does not ship a CD with this reader. My complaint with this reader is that the green indicator light is constantly illuminated. With the older XM-U4 the green led would only light when there was a card inserted. Can't say if this is due to the reader or the personal computer (Dell Vostro 200). Other than that, it functions fine.

Excellent card reader that does a assortment of formats for a very affordable value. It also contains a front-facing USB port, which genuinely is good for me mainly because my case has them on the top. This factor SERIOUSLY slows down my POST, as it reads each and every as a USB storage device even when there is practically nothing in the slot. I like it - it does pretty a lot everything. Even if it does make my pc take one more 10 seconds to boot, it's not poor enough to be a deal breaker. The blue lighting also matches my rig lighting, so that makes me joyful.

Looks good and fits the three 1ǘ" drive bay slot. Beyond that, mine has been about worthless. This reader will read once just fine, but get rid of the memory card from the slot, and the reader is dead in the water till I reboot my machine. (Gigabyte EP35C mobo, so USB two is fully supported.) I'm tossing this a single and going to try a Rosewill.

Operates wonderful with Linux. I have no problems at all, every slot shows up as a separate reader. The transfer rate is really excellent compared to other usb card readers. It fits correct in with my black case and it's great to have an additional usb port on the front of the case just in case. None The blue light is a little huge, but it is letting me know that it has power, and I don't have my laptop or computer on the desk so its seriously not an problem at all as I don't get a direct beam in my eye.

1 of the couple of card readers that supports both xD and SDHC card formats. I'm pleased to report that both operate quite efficiently; no issues with speed, reading, or writing. Physical installation was a breeze, but driver installation was not. For some incredibly curious cause, it shut off my keyboard and mouse when I installed it, creating it difficult to finish driver installation. Upon restarting in secure mode and completing the reader's installation there, all functionality on all devices was restored. All is nicely that ends nicely.

This has a lot of slots, and when it operates, it operates nicely. I am also getting the identical problems various other men and women have noted that the drive icons disappear right after you unplug a card (an SD card in my case; I haven't tried the others). You have to reboot to get the icons back. I don't have a issue when unplugging a USB memory stick nevertheless. I have a new motherboard (Asus P5Q Pro) with the newest BIOS firmware, so it ought to operate. As noted previously, you also can't install the driver icons beneath Vista x64, even although they claim it is compatible, because the drivers are not signed. This is no major deal, but I wonder whether operating x64 contributes to the issue of the drive icons disappearing? Perhaps a newer reader (e.g., the Rosewill RCR-IC002) will be much better? I am reluctant to give it only one star, given that it could function fine in an additional motherboard with a various OS. Who knows?

Effortless install, operates as described, & blue light, NOT green like I was practically led to think. I practically didn't buy this mainly because of that. None. It works. Oh wait, the blue light DOES remain on when the machine is off, as other individuals have stated, but not a huge deal for me. My cpu runs fairly much 24ǝ. Don't more than-assessment items. At least don't focus on the bad critiques. I pretty much didn't acquire this due to the fact of that. You have to figure virtually absolutely everyone who doesn't know what their performing & has a issue is additional most likely to write a critique (bad one) then absolutely everyone else who had no difficulties.

Right after reading other evaluations, I was going to go with the rosewill. I'm fairly positive I clicked on it, but some how to my surprise this ended up at my door. We all know the return shipping isn't worth it on little items, so I installed it. It operates genuinely well. Each port, even the usb. Simple install, 10mins. Transfer speed is good. It's rapidly, could be a tiny quicker.micro SD didn't perform first time, but I just re-seated the card and all was fantastic. I work in a studio, in the short time that I have owned it, it has observed every single kind of media in it. It appears to perform just fine, on occasion some reinsertion of card was necessary.

Quick, fantastic top quality, adapter-less assistance for other frequent formats. As other people have pointed out, just be careful when inserting smaller cards. I really like this factor, it's a major upgrade over the Rosewill RCR-102 I had prior to, which wouldn't read SDHC and was painfully slow Ƒ-2MB/s study; exact same cards read at about 20MB/s on the XM5U). Oh, and the Rosewill is only ŭ cheaper. So yeah, I'd definitely suggest spending a little bit additional and getting a quality reader.
