Looked cool when it flashed! Snap Crackle Pop, then some smoke and all of the other computers in the room went down for a sec and rebooted. This was going into a new setup and I don't know but if it took something else out with it when it died. I would guess this is my 200-250th unit to put together during the course of 10 years in the personal computer field and nicely it had to happen once. Far better Components / QA needed, and if I could give it zero egg't I would

Following reading the assessment by DanteOZ on 2ቲ񳏊, I decided to go with this reader. I have Win7x64 and it was a plug-n-play breeze. I did have to go rummage by means of my pc case's box in the garage to find the bay panel cover and holder that would let this reader fit into the bay (I have an Antec Nine Hundred case). I agree with other people that the brightness of the led is acceptable and not annoying. I am nonetheless biased considering that my case already has blue lighting scheme.I also chose this item because the design scheme on the front is clean and basic (e.g., no annoying logos or symbols everywhere). LED stays lit continually and unnecessarily. It would be greater if it stayed lit only when in use. If you have a mid- to significant- size tower, make sure that you have the needed equipment to install this reader (e.g., the 5.25" bay holder, the external panel cover, etc). It is relatively little, which is good, but if you don't have those parts, you may possibly have trouble installing the reader into a five.25" external drive bay.
